Description
More Horsepower and Torque. Improve the performance of your 3.7L Ti-VCT engine with a set of BBK Long Tube Headers. These BBK chrome plated long tube headers will greatly improve your mustangs exhaust flow over the restrictive factory manifolds and increase your Pony's horsepower and torque. Significant increases in rear wheel horsepower have been seen when installed with a matching BBK shorty X pipe.

Quality Construction. BBK Long Tube Exhaust headers are manufactured from 1-3/4" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted airflow. And feature one piece laser cut 3/8" header flanges for added strength, leak-free performance and OEM fit. These headers are then completed in a bright chrome finish for good looks and a long life.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a Bama custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Additional Required S197 Upgrades. Installation of these BBK Long Tube Headers on a 2011-2014 S197 V6 Mustang will require the use of a BBK Shorty Mid-Pipe, part# 1461 or 1462 for proper installation.

Additional Required S550 Upgrades. Installation of these BBK Long Tube Headers on a 2015-2017 S550 V6 Mustang will require the use of a BBK Shorty Mid-Pipe, part# 1465 or 14650, and a Front O2 Wire Harness Extension, part #1119, for proper installation.

Application. These BBK Chrome Long Tube Headers are specifically designed to fit the 2011-2017 Mustangs equipped with the 3.7L V6 engine.  These Headers are intended for left hand drive applications only.

Technical Notes. Not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles; intended for off road use only.

Hey, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is my brief overview of BBK's long-tube headers available in ceramic or chrome, fitting all 2011 and newer V6 Mustangs. Simply put, long tube headers have been designed to replace your restrictive factory manifolds, which can really choke out the flow of exhaust. A set of long tubes paired with an aftermarket Mid Pipe and exhaust, will make for a very free-flowing exhaust setup, which can give you a nice bump in power, as well as make for one mean-sounding exhaust note. As far as price, these long tubes from BBK are an extremely reasonable option when it comes aftermarket long tubes available for the late model 3.7 L V6. Taking a closer look, these headers feature 1-in-3/4 inch mandrel-bent tubing, quality welds throughout, and laser cut flanges for an OEM-like fit. Now as I mentioned earlier, you do have the option of picking these headers up in a chrome finish, or a ceramic finish. So what are the differences between the two finishes? Well, as you can see, the chrome option are a little brighter initially, but that's going to change as these headers heat-cycle, eventually turning that bright silver into a dark copper color. On the other hand, the ceramic options are going to remain that bright silver color throughout their lifespan. Secondly, that ceramic coating is going to be slightly better at reducing underhood temps, which is very important for performance. Now those added benefits do come with a price as ceramic coated headers are typically more expensive than a chrome or stainless option. Doing the install on any set of long tubes can be a little intense, so it's best to set aside a full day or weekend just to tackle the job. Now, you might not need it, but it's always good to be prepared. Now again, if you don't feel confident enough to tackle this install, then don't hesitate to give your local shop a call, they should be able to help you out. Keep in mind, whenever you run a set of long tubes like these BBKs, you will need to address your Mid Pipe. In this case you will need to run a flanged, and shorty Mid Pipe, just to get everything installed correctly, now BBK recommends their Shorty X-Pipe for the best fitment and performance gains. In the end, what you can expect from using these long tubes from BBK is a considerable bump in both power and sound, all at a very fair price. Fitt 2010 V6? I know this is for the 11-12 v6s. But there isn't a set of LT's from BBK that fit my 2010. Does anyone know if this is compatible?

  • Sadly no, these Long Tubes will only fit properly on the 2011-2012 V6 Mustangs.

  • yes, however you will have to re tune your car in order to see maximum gains. also, if you are getting the Off road x pipe, a tune is required to get rid of the check engine light.

    What The Other Reviews Don't Tell You

    I had a local shop install these with the BBK Catted Shorty X-Pipe. IT cost me about $570, which was less than expected. As all the other reviews say your car will sound like an demonic animal crawling from the pits of raw power. BUT pay close attention to the BUT here... There are a few things that I found out AFTER installing that weren't discussed on American Muscle about the long tube headers. FIRST) Your car will have idling issues after installing these, by that I mean when sitting idle it will randomly drop RPM and sound like it is going to stall. This is because the O2 sensors are moved down stream than before so the engine is reading the wrong air/fuel ratio and doesn't know how to handle it. SECOND) your car WILL smell like gas. This apparently is even worse if you get the non-catted pipe, so sorry to those guys... The reason being, your car comes with 4 catalytic converters on it stock. With long tube headers and (assuming you get catted midpipe) you now have two catalytic converters. How cats work is they burn any extra gas left in the exhaust coming from the engine because engines don't run 100 efficient. So between having fewer cats on your car now, and the car reading air/fuel ratio wrong, now your car will smell like gas. SOLUTION) After talking with an American Muscle Expert and reading forums on other websites, supposedly getting a tuner can potentially fix these two issues... Like I said, supposedly, as some forums say it didn't fix and some say it did. Regardless, it is an extra $400 you will want to spend immediately which I wasn't planning on doing yet. They say a tuner is optional, BUT YOU NEED A TUNER. All around the headers sound amazing and I can feel horsepower and torque gains easily... But I wouldn't have done it if I knew the trouble that would come from it.

    In love

    These headers are great i took my car to a shop to get em installed and now my car is breaking necks every where i go. my v6 is now able to keep up with 5.0s with all the added bolt ons i have added

    Great fit

    Installed them on a Saturday afternoon in my garage with basic hand tool. Did a BBQ as well, Great fit they look amazing and are load.

    Very Loud !

    Solid product with decent power gains but LOUD

    This product gives you good solid power gains on the mid to high end of the power band without a tune. A custom tune will give you a nice pull above 4k. I installed the ceramic long tubes with the catted X-pipe and I was expecting to pick up some decibels but these things are ridiculously loud with my Borla Stingers. I had some 18" vibrant resonators welded in and this toned down the rasp below 3k a little bit but it is still stupid loud above 3k with the s-types. Before installing this product thoroughly CHECK FOR SHIPPING DAMAGE before tearing your car apart! BBK skimped on the packaging which resulted in a good sized flat spot on the collector socket on the 1st set of headers and I had to do an exchange. I installed this product in an afternoon solo on jackstands in my garage. The installation was very straight forward and way easier than the BBK shorties. When you do the x-pipe install I'd definitely recommend hooking up the overaxle pipes first and then using a floor jack to raise it into place. I had to wrestle mine into place as the fitment of the x-pipe wasn't 100%. Also run the car on the ramps for a good 15 minutes and retorque the collector bolts after the exhaust warms up. I ran into a small exhaust leak after a day or two and had to retorque the bolts. Also toss the BBK gaskets use the factory metal gaskets I had issues with the BBK gaskets on my previous shorty header install and had to replace them with a factory set. If you are running aftermarket axlebacks on a daily driver I'd definitely recommend a larger ultra-quiet resonator. I ended up tossing the stock mufflers as I was getting way too much attention. The long tubes make the car very buzzy under anything but light throttle so toss any dream of V8 sound out the window. I'll be selling the S-types and picking up some Borla Touring mufflers very soon. If you are going for sound over performance get a set of shorty headers they lower the pitch and.give the car a throaty less raspy sound.

    WOW

    I have had these headers on since August and wow. I highly recommend a lift for installation or get a local shop to install these. My buddy helped me out with the install on his lift and it helped out a lot. I bought the Chrome longtubes with the Catted mid pipe, (for emissions) and I have the Roush axlebacks. I have recieved complements from Corvettes, Shelby's, and random people about how good my car sounds, and looks. These are a good purchase and I love the way the front lifts up when I launch off the line.

    Good Bang for the Buck

    The BBK LT headers were purchased with the Off-road X-pipe and it took my mechanic a full day to install them, mostly because my stock exhaust was fairly rusted. Unless you have a lift I would recommend having a performance shop install them. The power gain is immediately noticeable on my 2011 V6 - even with stock mufflers and street tune I will spin the tires if I punch it. They are loud with the O/R X-pipe but I like it. A bit raspy but a great product for the money. Like all chrome headers they turned golden brown but if you don't want to spend the extra bucks for the BBK ceramic headers, you can't go wrong with these. At idle the sound is deep. At WOT it screams like a NASCAR stock car. If you like it fast and loud then go for it!

    ......WOW

    amazing buy! first real mod on my new v6 (barley 4000 miles) install took about day and a half with simple tools, took me and two friends (we're 17-18) install was VERY VERY easy , beautiful raspy sound, noticeable performance gains especially on third and fourth gear, again.. AMAZING
