Thank you for purchasing Granatelli Motor Sports 8.8 Girdle Support System. Our support system feature heavy duty cast aluminum construction, drain and fill plugs, and premium hardware. Like all Granatelli Motor Sports products, great pride and precision craftsmanship went into making this kit.

There is an old expression that says, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. Simply put, spending a little time now, preventing a problem, will save you a lot of grief later on in life.

Such is the case with the Mustang 8.8 rear end. In as delivered form the stock rear end will support about 400 horsepower. However, it is not always so forgiving. As horsepower climbs, certain modifications must be done to prevent the factory rear end from failing miserably. To most of us, this means aftermarket axles and differentials, which, while certainly a good idea, can be pretty expensive. However, there is one modification you can make to your stock or modified 8.8 rear end that will substantially increase its strength and take less than an hour to install.

Installation:

  1. The first step is to remove the 10 bolts that secure the cover to the housing. Then, gently insert a flat-head screwdriver between the cover and the housing and pry the cover off, allowing the gear oil to drain.

  2. Remove the stock cap bolts and install the new cap bolts, girdle and spacers.

  3. With the cap girdles, spacers, and new fasteners in place, torque cap bolts to 75lb-ft (factory specification).

  4. Bolt cover back in place. Be sure to put a light bead of silicone around the cover.

  5. Once installation is complete, fill the rear end with 75W90-gear oil and check for leaks.
