    8.8 rear diff cover

This item was an easy install and a perfect fit. It looks good, doesn't leak and so far my 8.8 has held up to 538 rear wheel HP. I recommend this to anyone using an 8.8 rear end.

"in the box" doesn't mention drain bolt or fill bolt like the Steeda does. Are those included? Also, my owners manual says factory fill is 2 qts, you say I will need 3 qts, why the increase?

can I purchase an additional drain plug and will it fit in the fill hole ?

    • Hi, We suggest only using a Scott Drake drain plug made for this differential cover.

Great, quality product for a great price but the Allen bolts that came with the cover were too long, thus causing a leak. I just got some lock washers that fit to extend the seal gap, or you could shave the bolts. If you experience leaking that's most likely your problem.

      Undecided

I purchased this a few weeks ago and recently had it professionally installed with my new gears. The only problem I have is a leak. I used the gasket that came with the rear end kit I purchased (also at AM) and maybe that is the issue. I'm buying a Ford gasket and will try again. I'm using RP fluids, so this is going to get expensive if I cannot seal it.

      Diff cover

Purchased this cover last month, very nice piece but i did not like the allen bolts cause of the slower time it took to button it up. The intructions did not have any specs on tightening them (lb-ft?)also missing was the main caps bolt specs on how tight 5lb-ft-10lb-ft? i also have an issue with it leaking? I installed it the first time, thought i might of done something wrong? Took it to diff shop, leaking again? Hopefully be fixed the 3rd time?

      Nice performance look

The cover fits good and was a easy install. The only issue is the bolts are to long. They need to be cut or it will leak. Luckly thanks to another reveiw I checked before install and the they where right.

      Good but a lil problem

The cover was great installed easy an no leaks. Did start noticing a problem after a few times a driving it. My cars lowered an the bearing support sticks out far enuff that when you hit a bump an the car bounces it comes up an hits the spare tire bump in the body. Right above it is also the return fuel line and it was trying to pinch it in to when it hit. Had to take it back off an reuse the factory one to keep from damaging the car anymore.

      8.8 inch Girdle Support System

Outstanding fit and finish product. Easy to install and I did not have any leak issues. The only dislike I found was adding the 75w – 140 LUB what a PITA.

      Beef cake!

this diff cover is a million times better then the stock cover. it might just be me but it feels like it does help hold my bearings in place and keep my 4.10's and track-lock on lock down. plus the drain and fill plugs make changing the gear fluid so much easier since you don't have to remove the whole cover anymore.

This diff cover is just as advertised. It fits perfectly and does not leak. I am very satisfied. I would give a 5 star rating but I was expecting it to be a little bit lighter. Great product, highly recommended!

Nice part but hardware is junk!

Cover is very nice and sturdy but bolts that it come with are cheap looking and drain and fill plugs have magnets in them which is nice but not when they leak. The plugs are drilled and then a magnet pressed into it but they drilled too deep causing the oil to leak thru the drain plug. This is very upsetting considering the royal purple 75w-90 is not cheap at all. So before you fill the rear end up full of liquid hold buy you some drain plugs that seal and don't leak

      Does what is supposed to

The cover fits great i also have noticed a small amount of oil around the bottom of the rear end only like a drop and there is never any on the ground so im not really concernd about it.only other thing is AM recommends 75W90 for 2004 or older cars, but the tag on my stock cover said to use 75W140 dont know if there is much difference between them.

      The Drake diff. cover project

This is a very nice piece to add to any Mustang. My factory cover leaked and looked cheap. I chose not to un-bolt the massive rear sway bar on my Roush Stage 2 so it took extra time to slide the Drake cover into position. The bolts all fit fine but getting at them for torquing was not easy. The complete job took me 3 hours start to finish but I am meticulous. Here is a real tip, you only need 2 quarts of gear oil and 4-8 ounces of LSD additive to fill the differential housing. DP
