Great upgrade!

I used to have the Ford strut tower brace but then I upgraded my upper intake manifold to Trickflow so I needed a different brace. Installation took a little maneuvering of the A/C hose and vacuum hoses

How is the Max Motorsports strut tower fit over a taller MSD distributor? I recently installed a new MSD Atomic EFI and new MSD distributor. The distributor is taller than stock. It is the distributor with the cap on top to retain the plug wires. My older Max Motorsports strut tower brace does not clear the distributor. The pictures of the item appear to show a taller arc in the bar that goes over the distributor. Will this brace clear a taller distributor?

  • If you will notice in some of the customer pictures, the brace goes between the distributor & intake. You will also notice in the pictures, one of the customers has a MSD distributor and there is clearance on it. I think you will find this brace to work well with your setup. And always remember, AM stands behind what they sell, if you need to return it.

All Foxbodies should have come with these.

    August 28, 2013

Seems funny that the first Mustangs came with stamped strut tower braces but only the Cobra came with one in Foxbodies. For a stock convertible this is one of the easiest/best handling improvements one can make. I put on the K member two bolt reinforcement first. Now the 3 out of 4 pt brace that fits really great considering my car is 26yrs old and who knows how many accidents later? I had to go to the store and buy another new/better 5/16" drill as after 3 holes the cheapo one died. I needed my wife to help me hold down the tower corners so I could center tap the lower holes for drilling. Once those were in it went smoothly. About 3 hours being careful in moving brake lines up out of the way especially on the left side to line up that firewall bolt. I think it looks like a factory provided unit in my stock car once I repositioned the vacuum bank and hoses. A great value. Handling is very crisp and the car is much more firm. Steering wheel has no more bounce. I'm sure it will make a huge difference when I take the car autocrossing in a couple weeks.

Best strut brace for a fox body

    August 19, 2013

This 4 point strut brace made a big difference on my 92 convertible and I like that it bolts to the pinch weld which is stronger than the firewall sheet metal. Design also helps it to clear the intake + intake spacer.

    Handles much better!

    October 24, 2012

I no longer get a lot of the squeaks when going over bumps. Car handles a lot better. But it took me more than an hour. It would be quick if all went well, but.... I had to temp. move brake lines, move A/C canister, vacuum lines, and didn't even put in one screw. That would have required me to remove the starter solenoid. Not counting the time it took to go get a 5/16 drill bit. Still love it though.

    DIdn't fit w/ R-134a A/C Conversion

    July 28, 2012

I've used a number of Maximum Motorsports suspension parts and think they make great products. However I wasn't able to install this strut tower brace because it interfered with the hose connections to the air conditioning compressor. The a/c is not stock, it's a Hose Wizard R134a conversion kit. If I was willing to go through the effort I could probablly rotate or change out the a/c fittings on the compressor to make it work. The quality and fit of the brace otherwise looks great. It does look like it would require modification or removal of the factory coil cover but I couldn't get it in place to verify. I recommended this product but not if your situation was the same as mine.

    Maximum Motorsports Strut Tower Brace

    July 27, 2012

I love this product. Looks great under the hood with greater stiffening due to its 4 point install. It took a little over an hour and requires two people as the positioning is critical when you have to line up the factory holes on the firewall. It may also interfere with air box tube if you have a throttle body spacer as its a tight fit w/o one.

MM strut tower brace for non stock intake

    February 24, 2012

I previously had a strut tower brace on it but since I replaced stock intake, I needed to replace the brace due to interference. This is an excellent addition to the handling performance. This brace mounts to the existing holes in the firewall with is more rigid than the previous one I had on my mustang. I know I purchased the best product for available. As far as price I did my homework. Purchasing from AmericanMuscle, I recieved it for the best price around and free shipping. Thank you.
