Increase Horsepower and Torque. Increase the power and performance of your SOHC 4.6L Mustang GT with a set of Pypes Long Tube Headers. These Pypes Polished headers will greatly improve your Pony's exhaust flow over the restrictive stock factory cast iron manifolds and increase your Pony's rear wheel horsepower and torque, when installed with a matching Pypes shorty H-pipe.

Durable Construction. Manufactured from 1-5/8" mandrel bent 304 stainless steel tubing for strength and improved airflow, these Pypes Long Tube Exhaust headers feature a one piece 3/8" thick header flange for additional strength and an OEM fit. Pypes headers are then polished to a bright finish for impressive under hood styling.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a Bama custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Application. These Pypes Polished Long Tube Headers are designed to fit the 1996 to 2004 GT Mustangs with a manual transmission. Pypes long tube headers require a shorty mid pipe in order to install correctly. Pypes recommends using a Pypes shorty H-Pipe for the best performance gains (see drop down option above).

Technical notes. Not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles; intended for off road use only. An O2 Sensor Extension Kit and Pypes shorty mid-pipe are required for installation.

    overall fitment

I just installed mine and it took me two days to install the H pipe and headers. This is not my first time installing a set of long tube headers but I have to admit this have been the hardest of all. I didn't rate this product with five stars because I am having a lot of issues with the overall fitment. I'm really having a major issue with my steering shaft touching one of the tubes and it makes my power steering feel like is a manual steering car. The other side is not that good either, some of the tubes are touching the crossmember and floor of the car. Like I said, i am used to work on cars but this is the first time I had such a hard time with headers. Now I have to get underneath the car and try to bend the headers a little bit so I can stop all the rattle and vibration the headers are causing. I'm almost to the point of pulling everything apart and install my old exhaust manifolds. In other words, if you are ready to have a miserable experience due to fitment and vibration get a set of long tube headers. I hope I can bent the headers in shape but I think I shouldn't have to, cause is something that the manufacturer should of done before start selling it. Very disappointed of the overall fitment.

    Bang For YOUR buck

I bought these last year(when they first came out). I found the welds to be pretty dang good. The pipes are not bent like BBks to allow the steering shaft clearance. I am glad it doesnt because I have always felt that dent hurts your flow. The headers did have a little contact with the sterring shaft, but nothing that couldnt be handled. I did a little adjusting and there was no contact. After a years time, the only wear and tear I can tell on the headers is discoloring from heat( all SS will turn bluish/purple tint when heated that hot) THERE IS NO RUST. Im pretty darn happy with them.

    Great Product

Got these in and wow, much nicer than i expected for the price paid. They even came with a new set of gaskets, as i read i was expecting to be required to purchase those seperately. I have not installed them yet, but these are not my first install. Much higher quality than some of the competitors out there that charge MUCH more for a rubbish product

    Buyer Beware!

The headers looked great but when we went to install them is when it turned into a nightmare. The steering column goes threw the header and well that didn't work. The EGR tube had a wrong bend to it and both headers hit the bottom of the floor. Thankfully American Muscle returned them and I ordered the BBK headers and it went in like a charm. Pay the $90 more and get the BBK, you get what you pay for gents!

    Very poor fitment

The good: Great quality welds, bends, looks. The Bad: EGR tube fitting on the drivers side was not aligned properly, the steering shaft rubbed terribly and once the K Member was bolted back up the collectors were resting on the bottom of the car. Bottom Line: American Muscle was great to deal with with all these issues and they exchanged them for a set of BBK's (ZERO PROBLEMS) WOuld I buy another pypes product? NEVER would I buy from American Muscle again? Already have!! Great service.

    Absolute nightmare

i pulled the engine on my 01 gt and decided to put the headers on at this time due to easy access. some bolts to the heads were RIGHT behind a pipe and you cannot access them with a socket OR a wrench from any direction let alone turn the thing. so when i am going to put the engine back in i realize the steering shaft is in the way, no problem right it must go through the header.... ok i disconnected the steering shaft to put it through the header while it is on the engine and it WILL NOT fit through so i have to take the header off and put it through that way making it a nightmare even further to re-install the engine. needless to say fitment sucks as the steering shaft still rubs the header when engine is bolted down. please dont make the mistake i did, spend a few more bucks and get something that fits right.

They went in and fit well with no issues on my 03 GT. The Included Studs could have been a bit longer but they do work.

    Quit your belly aching.

So all the reviews are true. The e.g.r doesn't bolt right up, the steering column rubs, yes you have to drop the cross member, and the body is in the way of the drivers outlet. I put them in, in my drive way after pulling out the ridiculous BBK shorty equal length shorty headers out. If you have a little bit of ingenuity you can figure out how to fix these small bumps in the road. 1. Get the polyurethane engine mounts. (More rigid) 2. Grind the steering column bushing and drill the housing holes. 3. Use ratchet straps too pull the headers together away from the body. 4. Disconnect the e.g.r from the intake when trying to align the tube to the header then reattach to the intake.

I wish I could attach a picture of how I had to cut my K member to make these fit as well as cut my steering shaft 3/4" and raise the knuckle to clear my header...the money saved on headers I put back into for install issues
