What type of metal are these constructed from? I'm aware they're ceramic coated, but is the tubing soft metal, stainless steel, or other? What gauge is the metal please? Thanks.

    EricS

    • The BBK 1-5/8 in. Ceramic Tuned Length Shorty Headers are ceramic coated mild steel.

If you put these headers on, do you have to get a bama tune in order to use these headers. even though I have stock heads and a bama tune already? Do the gaskets that come with, are they good, or should I buy better ones?

    JSS

    • These BBK 1-5/8 in. Ceramic Tuned Length Shorty Headers do not require a tune, however, we would highly recommend a new tune to get the most bang for your buck! The kit comes with all of the hardware, including the gaskets. Many enthusiasts like to use heavy duty gaskets, however, many have used the gaskets in the kit without any issues.

      Nice headers

The headers have a shiny coat on them that i hope it will last. I got them installed with my stock cats. I had some long tubes with no cats wich sounded much louder and meaner. Now it has a much quiter sound but still rubbles and i can hear my whistle from my intake. I still feel the power from the shorty headers, which is great. Maybe later i will purchase some pype electric cutouts for my cats. I really like the speed the it gives the v6.

      Great headers

These headers let my pony breath a lot better, back then the car was asking its gear change to 4 when i was going 35 mph, now it can go much farther aroundo 60 without a problem, recommended...installation costs a pretty penny $300 at my local shop in texas

      Wow, what a different

I must say, I was blown away. I put a CAI on from BBK and was lightly impressed. I then put on the headers and I went from being able to power break a burn-out to being able to stomp on it and burn out through first, second, and chirp as I go into third. It's an automatic as well. The only problem I have is fit is a pain in the butt. The alternator bracket gets in the way and the coil pack bracket gets in the way, strong advice to remove them as well as the dipstick prior to installation. I had to grind off the bottom of the coil pack bracket and grind off the head outside head of both bolts to both brackets to get it to fit. Overall, just blown away by the performance gain. Looking forward to true dual exhaust and 70mm throttle body.

      Awesome shorties

These shorties work great. They bolted up with no issues and look and sound great. Install was not that bad to do it with some jack stands in the garage.

      Pump up the volume

They look and sound great! Don't expect that shine to last cause it burns off quick. A few bolts won't fit without some alterations including your dipstick. Overall great headers.

Amazing headers- install was a huge pain!

The headers gave the car such a nice sound especially because they were installed with pypes dual exhaust. I have no complains with the headers performance. The car runs and sounds incredible. The install was a huge pain. The headers weren't threaded all the way. So to get the bolts in we're such a pain!! The shop that installed lost 45mins just on trying to get bolts in. Then the headers were supposed directly bolt on to the cats(according the site) and once everything was installed and the car was turned on, there was a massive exhaust leak sound coming from the cats and the headers bolt on so they were taken apart and found out that the headers are too big to create a seal with the cats. So they had to be removed and welded together to get rid of the leak.

      Scared my gf

Still breaking in some new gears so haven't reallyheard a full roar yet, but I gave it a little ooomf with the windows down and it scared the snot out of my gf. Very happy with it, although it took a pretty penny to have these suckers put on.

      Excellent sound and performance

These headers gave an excellent tone to my V6. They really awakened some horsepower that was lost because of the garbage stock headers. Couldn't recommend BBK or these headers more!

      V6 headers

I really like the headers on my mustang. The installation was very rough. The passenger side headers didn't exactly fit.

      Way more than expected

These BBK shorty hearts are great! I was unsure about buying them at first, because of the mixed reviews, but I ended up biting the bullet and bought them. WOW! I could not be happier, there is a noticeable difference in hp and a improvement in sound. The sound isn't too loud but just perfect, comparable to a v8 sound.

Nice Headers but you will need to make Modifications

On my 2010 V6 Mustang I had to remove and cut a bracket on each side of the engine to get the headers on. On driver side you will have to trim the distributor bracket and on the passenger side you will have to trim the heater hose bracket. On both sides the part that hits is the large bolt. the bracket and the bolt hit the header and need to be modified before you can snug the headers and the bracket back up.

      BBK - A Winner

The Pypes shorty headers we installed five years ago developed leaks along a weld. After failed attempts replacing them with two sets JBA shorty headers... these BBK headers accepted the EGR tube like a glove. They look and so great on the true-dual exhaust with GT mufflers. Wife says she feels a little extra power. Thanks AM

      Bad to Install

The headers are awesome and sound great! But got messed up in shipping so had leaks, took 3 days to get overnight delivery. Then the stock flanges didn't fit so that was more money spent. Didn't expect this to be such a project.

      Great buy, look great!

If you are looking for a good set of headers for your 05-10 V6 Mustang then look no further! These are a decent price and look great. And with the ceramic coating you can't go wrong! The shop that put them on along with my dual exhaust said it was an easy install. Only issue was getting all the bolts to line up, but that is expected with headers. They were able to get them on correctly and easily and they look and sound great!

      changes the tone.

these headers have stayed looking good and run cooler then the old manifolds. Also they changed my exhaust note for a deeper sound, defiantly a good buy.

      exhaust leak

cheap gaskets provided, but the bigger picture, it does not fit well with my stock y-pipe. one month after installation, and both myself and professionals worked on fixing the exhaust link on the drivers side between the collector and the y-pipe, i'm reinstalling the stock manifolds.

Didn't Quite Fit, But Still Good Headers!

I had these headers installed by the local shop because I don't trust myself to install something like that on my own. After getting my car back, the guy that put these on stated that they were NOT an exact, direct replacement for the stock headers. He did need to make some small modifications and there was a bolt that could not be put back into one of the brackets because the new header and gasket were covering them. I also have a Pypes true dual exhaust kit on my car, and he needed to pull the driver side of the X-pipe up closer to the car, causing it to rattle against the bottom of the car at slower speeds (10-30mph). These do look really nice under the hood and I did not notice any sound difference. There was a definite increase in power too. I would recommend that you have a shop install the headers and also warn them about the issues that I had with it. If they are able to get them to fit and fix the exhaust issue, then these are well worth the money...just not the time to install them yourself.
