Wondering what kind of transmission you have? Click Here to find out!

Better Shifts. Tighten up the feel of your S197's sloppy stock gearbox and get better, faster, more precise shifter feel with the Steeda Sport Shifter. Make missed shifts a thing of the past and enjoy driving your Mustang more as you're flying through the gears with this must-have mod.

Adjustable Stops. Unlike other similar products, Steeda's sport shifter includes adjustable shifter stops to prevent transmission damage in the event of over-extension of the shift handle.

Legendary Steeda Quality. Steeda's sport shifter features a nickel-plated lever for superior durability and long life.

Application. The Steeda Sport Shifter is designed for 2005 to 2010 Mustang GT or V6 with the T-5 or TR-3650 manual transmissions. Shift Knob

not included.

Tech note. Disassembly of stock shifter required for installation.

Technical Note: Compatible with stock GT shift knob; stock knob is not threaded but has a nylon insert which grabs the threads when twisted on. Bullitt models will require a new 12mm x 1.75 threaded shift knob, as the stock Bullitt Knob has an incompatible 12mm x 1.25 thread pattern.

AWESOME

Now I know I was right, the stock V6 shifter was crap. I do not think the closer is hard to get used to at all. It's awesome and shifts much smoother, tighter and easier then the stock. Great price

    Steeda Sport Shifter

A great value for much shorter, cleaner, crisper, throws. I cant' wait to try it out at the track and shave a couple of tenths of a second off my ET! Don't waste your money buying a shifter for $260.00 dollars and up. You can buy this kit and have it installed for less than what you would pay for a more expensive shifter.

A mod you will appreciate every time you drive!

    February 17, 2012

This is the best bang for the buck! The throw is much shorter, more precise, and crisp. Feels very good, especially the stops on the shifter. I'm glad I chose this instead of the Tri-ax. With the right tools - at home in a regular garage without a lift, this should take you about 3 hours and 30 minutes to 4 hours. You do have to jack your whole car (can be done by just jacking the rear wheels but all four is safer), remove your driveshaft, somewhat disassemble your stock shifter, and then fit your new shifter before finally putting it all back together. Tools needed: jack, jack stands, 12 mm 12 point socket (or 12 combo wrench can work), 13 mm socket, 10 mm combo wrench, ratchet and extensions, die grinder or dremel grinding/cutting tool, flat head screwdriver, thread locker, grease (I used lithium) for shifter ball joint, and anti-sieze if you have an aluminum shift knob.

    Fast & Easy

    October 16, 2009

Bought this as an upgrade along with a set of 4.10 gears. Kinda hard to get use to cause the shift is so close together but you definently wont miss second and with a good race clutch like centerforce hitting third is like the best thing that made racing even better cause you wont miss!!

    2010 V-6

    August 11, 2014

I don't understand why Ford puts such lousy factory shifters on most of our Mustangs. I have the odd 2010 with the T-5 4.0 so there are not a lot of options for aftermarket shifters. The difference is night and day. I greatly recommend this shifter, Especially if you have the rare 2010 T-5. Now the car shifts normal and yes much faster and, smoother. The shop charged me 2.5 hours labor. They said they had to "grind it" so it would fit? Do it yourself if you can.

    Terrible

    March 18, 2014

I bought this expecting a shorter, more fluid shifter, and boy was I wrong This thing feels like it's going to break my wrists every time I shift, it's so notchy I can't use it for anything besides steady daily driving. 3rd gear is awful. I've always had an issue with it when I slam it but this increased the problem tenfold. Installing it was also an issue. The piece that holds the stop bolts in literally wouldn't fit. It was so bad it actually prohibited me from going into anything except 3rd and 4th. In short, if you want a short throw, spend the extra money or don't spend it at all.

Good shifter For the money Car feels like a true sports car

    January 15, 2014

Ive been running this shifter for about a week now and Im impressed with it. It doesn't look like much and it recycles parts of your stock shifter but It DOSE make a HUGE difference. The shifts are clean crisp and just plain fun now. The car feels like a new car. Now when you get on it and need to shift fast its just a flick of the wrist and NO more missing Second. The stock shifter knob will fit, but The shift lever is traded for a 99-2004 shift knob. The install is a bit well time consuming. I didn't want to drop the drive shaft so I found a way around that. All and all it took about 4hrs and was don't in my garage with some jack stands. This is one of the best mods Ive done to my mustang, Id recommend it to any one.

    WOW

    December 02, 2011

Took a while to install and figure it out with my friend but we got it! Compared to stock, this shifter makes short, precise shifts. Not only does it effectively decrease time between shifts but VASTLY improves driving experience! Should be one of your first mods, total improvement over stock

Precision Rifle feel to my 3650 Transimssion

    October 26, 2011

Fantastic feel for my 3650 Transmission. Rowing the gears now feels like chambering a precession rifle bolt. Love the new, crisp feel between gears. Highly recommend this product. Good value too, since I wanted to keep the interior look stock and keep my GT a sleeper as much as possible.

Great shifter, but beware the drawbacks.

    March 10, 2013

I've used this for about 2 years now, so here are my reactions. Pros: Very comfortable shifter. It noticeably reduces the throw and tightens up the shift feel without making it high effort. Very great for daily driving. Quiet. I had an older generation MGW shifter on my car before this one. That shifter was strong and allowed for very aggressive shifting, but it let a lot of noise into the cabin. This one is silent. Cons: The M12x1.75 thread pattern. I want to metaphorically punch Steeda in the gut for continuing to use the same thread pattern that 2004 and earlier Mustangs used. It means that when you shop for shift knobs that match the '05 and newer cars, they won't fit. Only the standard factory shift knob works. My factory aluminum shift knob (part of my '08 Interior upgrade package) became useless. You can buy '04 and earlier shift knobs, but they don't have the same shift boot collar. You can also shop through Steeda, but they are down to about 2 choices. Installation is painful. If you have/had a '04 or earlier Mustang, you know how easy a shifter swap is. The S197 car is a pain. I ended up dropping the driveshaft to make it happen. Some people go so far as to lower the transmission an inch or so to get at the forward arm bolt. Overall: I continue to love the function of this short shifter. Shifting is more precise, yet still easy. The price is low, but the quality is outstanding.
