Have not installed yet. So, I can only review purchase and shipping... Easy to order, shipping was pretty fast (came in a seperate box a day later than the rest of the order). I was told by many Mustang owners to get the Barton. Wanted the Hurst shifter and white ball, reverse lock out is cool, and I am sure the short shifter will be an improvement over stock!Helpful (0)

What a beast !
I love this shifter. Put it in my 2013 mustang gt. The throw is incredible and handles better then the stock. The iconic white Hurst shift ball just looks amazing in the cabin. Deffinatly a eye catcher.Helpful (1)

Hurst old school
The only problem with the installation was the nylon set screws for the collar. Solved the problem by using the T handle metal one which is the same size to open up the collars threads then put the nylon set screws in as far as it would go and using the steel set screw to drive it the rest of the way. After I figured that out the rest was easy. Works great,first and second are tight but the rest are smooth and short. The look is worth every penny!Helpful (0)

There’s no escaping the nylon set screws
I read the reviews about the set screws stripping easy but I figured if I took my time and was careful about it I could make them work. I was wrong. Took up a big chuck of time trying to find something to replace them as they are without a doubt unusable. The kit I got was also missing a few small things like the screw that holds the reverse lockout spring, so I would make sure you’ve got some backup hardware laying around before you buy. All gripes aside once this thing is in it works like a charm! I never realized how sloppy the stock shifter was, and this short throw makes driving that much better.Helpful (2)

Poor design but great performance
This shifter looks and feels amazing it is a great shifter and it’s very comfortable on the hand but beware it does have it quirks. Would be nice for the details to share all the outside noise you’ll be hearing and the freezing cold air that’ll be hitting the knuckles during the winter months. There’s a small space between the chroma shift are and the plastic boot fitter that allows for noise and air flow from outside the car even with the factory rubber boot put back in place. If you like how quiet your mustang is with the radio off beware you will hear the transmission like never before. But great performance overallHelpful (3)

Hurst Competition Plus Short Throw Shifte
First time driving a manual car and the stock shifter just felt sloppy. This shifter, by Hurst, definitely tightened things up all around and reduced the throw to a level that feels comfortable. Only issue was the nylon set screws, the 8/32 was missing and neither of the two smaller ones would thread into the desired area. Lastly, the shift knob threading area is smaller than stock, so take care in purchasing a different knob, the supplied Hurst knob does fit. An adapter might remedy it, but haven't gone out to look for one yet. You are also required to cut into your shifters boot and cover, but no issues there despite being difficult to seat them correctly.Helpful (5)

Old school look and in love!
The shifter comes dissasembled. The assembly is pretty easy but the plastic set screws are garbage and strip easy, but just a little force and they go in fine. Also the metal set screw stripped easy but again not a big deal. Overall the install is easy and the build quality is fantastic. Heavy duty metal and a beautiful design. Shifts smooth and definitely shortens the shift about 30-35. Love it and definitely worth it.Helpful (2)

This is a really dumb question but what is the T bar for?
The mini T-handle on this Hurst Competition Plus Shifter engages the shifter's reverse lockout that prevents you from accidentally shifting into reverse when shifting into first gear.
what about the stock shifter boot , will both shafts fit through one hole
The Hurst Competition Plus Shifter is compatible with the OEM shift boot. Both shafts will fit through, though it will take a little more time and patience than a standard style shifter to ensure both are guided through properly.
I have the premium shifter in my 2011 Mustang GT. Has the chrome handle and chrome shift ball. Is there any problems changing to the Hurst shifter from this stock shifter as I've never seen the premium shifter in any of your videos or anyone else's for that matter? Thanks
Yes, this Hurst Competition Plus Short Throw Shifter will certainly be working with you 2011GT, despite it having the premium package. The transmission and everything that shifter will connect to will still be the same in the end.

Unfortunately, this shifter would not come with a bracket. The bracket would help produce smoother shifts when compared to the stock bracket. This part weighs 3.5 lbs. We would recommend the aftermarket bracket as it would be better quality than the stock, however, it wouldn'tbe necessary for the installation.
The Hurst Competition Plus shifter is designed to work with 11-14 Mustang GT, V6 and Boss 302 (12-13) models that are equipped with the manual transmission. This shifter will not work for those that have the automatic transmission.
Unfortunately we do not offer the reverse lockout separately. We would recommend reaching out Hurst directly for individual components.
