Hurst’s Competition Plus Shifter brings the vintage look of early muscle car styling to your 2011-2014 Mustang’s interior with its classic white 6-speed knob and chrome stick. However, unlike classic shifters, this Hurst Competition Plus Shifter will provide firm, crisp shifts as well as reduce throw by 18% over your Pony’s OEM shifter.

    Retains Reverse Lock-out. The Hurst Competition Plus Shifter was specifically designed to retain the Back Up Camera (if so equipped) and the Reverse Lock-out safety feature of the modern manually equipped Mustang. Retaining this safety feature prevents the driver from shifting into reverse accidentally.

    Superior Construction. CNC machined from billet aluminum, the housing provides a sturdy base to build off of. Vibration and noise is reduced by the Shifter’s spherical pivot bearing design that features a Delrin support ring. As an added bonus this shifter features Hurst’s chrome flat blade stick that has been forged from solid steel for high strength.

    Lifetime Limited Warranty. All Hurst shifters come with a lifetime limited warranty. There is also a one-year limited warranty on the shift knob.

    Application. This Hurst Competition Plus Shifter is designed to fit 2011-2014 Mustang models equipped with a MT-82 manual 6 speed transmission included in the GT, V6 and BOSS models.

    This is a really dumb question but what is the T bar for?

    • The mini T-handle on this Hurst Competition Plus Shifter engages the shifter's reverse lockout that prevents you from accidentally shifting into reverse when shifting into first gear.

    I have the premium shifter in my 2011 Mustang GT. Has the chrome handle and chrome shift ball. Is there any problems changing to the Hurst shifter from this stock shifter as I've never seen the premium shifter in any of your videos or anyone else's for that matter? Thanks

    • Yes, this Hurst Competition Plus Short Throw Shifter will certainly be working with you 2011GT, despite it having the premium package. The transmission and everything that shifter will connect to will still be the same in the end.

    what about the stock shifter boot , will both shafts fit through one hole

    • The Hurst Competition Plus Shifter is compatible with the OEM shift boot. Both shafts will fit through, though it will take a little more time and patience than a standard style shifter to ensure both are guided through properly.

    Does the shifter come with a bracket? Or is it worth getting an aftermarket bracket like the https://www.americanmuscle.com/barton-shifter-bracket-2011.html? Also how much does it weight?

    • Unfortunately, this shifter would not come with a bracket. The bracket would help produce smoother shifts when compared to the stock bracket. This part weighs 3.5 lbs. We would recommend the aftermarket bracket as it would be better quality than the stock, however, it wouldn'tbe necessary for the installation.

    Can this shifter be used on a automatic 2012 Mustang.

    • The Hurst Competition Plus shifter is designed to work with 11-14 Mustang GT, V6 and Boss 302 (12-13) models that are equipped with the manual transmission. This shifter will not work for those that have the automatic transmission.

      Hurst Competition Plus Short Throw Shifte

      First time driving a manual car and the stock shifter just felt sloppy. This shifter, by Hurst, definitely tightened things up all around and reduced the throw to a level that feels comfortable. Only issue was the nylon set screws, the 8/32 was missing and neither of the two smaller ones would thread into the desired area. Lastly, the shift knob threading area is smaller than stock, so take care in purchasing a different knob, the supplied Hurst knob does fit. An adapter might remedy it, but haven't gone out to look for one yet. You are also required to cut into your shifters boot and cover, but no issues there despite being difficult to seat them correctly.

      Old school look and in love!

      The shifter comes dissasembled. The assembly is pretty easy but the plastic set screws are garbage and strip easy, but just a little force and they go in fine. Also the metal set screw stripped easy but again not a big deal. Overall the install is easy and the build quality is fantastic. Heavy duty metal and a beautiful design. Shifts smooth and definitely shortens the shift about 30-35. Love it and definitely worth it.

      Throwback Shifter

      Nicely made and reduces throw quite a bit. Definitely a must have if you want to reduce your shift and have that old school look. It's not bad to install but definitely easier with a lift. The only issue with it is the "T-bar" is attached with a plastic set screw so it is easy to strip or come loose.

      Amazing shifter

      It was not hard to install at all. I'm total it took an hour. Assembly of the shifter was easy and the plastic set screws didn't strip at all. In fact thinking about it. They are meant to keep the slide level.

      Hurst Shifter

      I Love the shifter it work beautiful. The only thing I did not like is the set screws on step 31. the nylon set screws stripped as I was installing it on the allen side. So I could not install them I get steel ones with nylon tip and it works 100 better than the nylon ones.

      Replacement shiftier for a Barton

      I bought this shiftier to replace a Barton shiftier that rattled badly in 2-5 gear and was very hard to get into reverse. This one is no better very notchie in getting it into first and second and the reverse lockout does not disengage making it very easy to go back into reverse trying to find first and then second gear is very hard to engage. 3-6 gear work fine. Not the quality i expected from a Hurst product.
