    Improves Shifts. Get rid of that clumsy feeling that many stock Mustang shifters have with a Hurst Billet Plus Shifter. The Hurst shifter features a high ratio pivot mechanism for quicker, shorter throws and a polymide pivot cup to reduce jarring vibrations.

    Hurst Quality. The Hurst shifter base and stop collar is CNC machined from billet aluminum for it's strength and lightweight. The included black shifter handle is heat treated for superior strength.

    Application. This Hurst Billet Plus Shifter is designed for use with Mustangs equipped with the TR-3650 manual transmission, including the 2001 to 2004 GT, 2001 SVT Cobra, 2001 Bullitt, and 2003-2004 Mach 1 models. The shift handle reuses the stock shift knob or an aftermarket knob with a 12mm x 1.75 thread pattern.

    would this shifter fit on my 03 roush stage 2? or what short shifter do you guys Recommend for my roush?

    • I believe a S2 Roush is basically a body kit on a Mustang GT. They share the same transmission, and so this should fit properly.

    • Very straight forward. It should take you around thirty minutes or slightly more depending on how experienced you are. Only basic hand tools are required.

      Hurst Shifter

      This is a great shifter and very easy to install. I reused the little plastic cup off the bottom of my stock shifter because it fits a lot more securely than the new one they supply with this one. I also used the optional section at the end of the instructions and took the second (smaller) set of centering springs out because it was very hard to shift with them in there, now it just takes a flick of the wrist and is very precise. The only thing I don't like is that the handle rattles on the adjustable stops inside the shifter when you're driving and that gets a little annoying sometimes. I also recommend checking the torque and putting Loctite on the 2 bolts that hold the handle on before installing because mine actually vibrated loose a short time after I installed it. Overall, I would definitely recommend as one of the first mods you do to your Mustang.

      Hurst Billet Plus Shifter - TR-3650 (01 Cobra; Late 01-04 GT, Mach 1

      Shifter is exactly as advertised. Installed with basic hand tools in under 2 hours. The end result looks retro custom and the shifts are short and sweet. A vast improvment over the stock shifter.

      OH MY....

      My nephew has one in his '06. I was replacing the clutch and quadrant all from American Muscle. So I replaced the shifter too. I drove down the street to try it out and had to stop to be sure I was in gear. It was so smooth and QUICK I didn't believe it at first. Now after a few hundred miles I still smile shifting gears. This is another perfect addon From AMERICAN MUSCLE that all should have in thier car. EASY instructions. Well worth it. GREAT shifter. Thanks again.

      Great After Some Time

      After installing the shifter (which is very simple) make sure you adjust the stops on the top and bottom of the shifter. If you may not get into gears. I drove the shifter for a week and it was very notchy and 2nd was back and over. Back and over sucks for speed shifting and after missing 2nd I took the springs out. Removing the smaller springs makes it feel more like the stock shifter just shorter throws and it easily goes into 3rd. Over all it's a great shifter but you will have to take the time to work with it to get it were you like it.

      No more missing 3rd!

      This shifter is a 1000 times better than the sloppy factory unit. Very easy to install. Another reviewer suggested taking out the 2 smaller springs at the optional part at the end of installation instructions. I agree. It took a little too much effort to get used to. Take the 2 springs out in the instructions and its much better!

      Huge difference!!!

      Shifts are smooth and fast. Feels so much better than the clunky stock shifter. Now I can switch gears in an instant and pick up speed without hesitation.

      Awesome shifter

      This product is a large improvement over the stock shifter. Much more precise and shifts are much shorter than stock. Only problem was getting the stock dustboot to fit. Had fo cut the dustboot so it would fit

      Best shifter out there!

      This shifter couldn't be more any more sweeter!! Huge huge difference from the stock shifter I'm far from a good mechanic and only took me about an hour to install do not use the gasket it's too hard to get it to stay in place just use some rtv and it's a breeze! You won't be disappointed super nice shifter! American muscle shipped it out in 3 days just like promised! Just perfect! Thanks guys

      Hurst install 2002 GT Convertible

      I'm amazed how easy this install was. I took me about an hour to get it right. A week or so later had to tighten up the shifter itself and adjust the shifter too. WAY TOO EASY! It looks a lot like the OEM shifter. With the white knob, it finishes the job.

      Much quicker

      Had my mechanic install. Can't believe how short the shift is and much quicker. Would recommend to anyone that wants to improve the shifting performance. Very please. My wife loves this shifter.

      Hurst short throw

      Excellent product, I wouldn't go with anything but hurst. But, American Muscle shipped it to my house in the manufacturers packaging with no padding. It was bouncing around in the box. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

      Tough Throw But Short

      Took me awhile to install the shifter due to putting in new trans fluid and making a nut for the shifter knob (not needed for the install). The throw is tough but short and sweet! You can remove some springs for a easier throw but for what I want its perfect! Missing 3rd gear will not be an issue anymore. Shifter lines up with 2nd and 3rd. 1st, 5th, and Reverse are the hardest gears to put it in with all springs installed. Its not the shortest shifter but that is what I like about it. Its just right....in my opinion. I can now say for each gear, I know its engaged when I shift!

      TR-3650 Hurst Shifter 03 GT Mustang

      I decided to swap my pro50 shifter because of the hassle going in to 3rd gear. Really like the stiffer spring with the centering up for 3rd and 4th gear. It has helped me in my shifting performance at the track and messing around town. I am a mechanic by trade and the install was simple on the basic level. I had to use the old plastic cup because the one that came with the shifter did not fit well. Bang for the buck, could have been cheaper i thought. I would buy again, just because of overall performance. I find it best to use rtv to seal the base up.

      NO KIDDING "SHORT"

      COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW SHORT THE THROW WAS COMPARED TO STOCK. SHIFT KNOB HAD TO BE CUT TO FIT OTHER THAN THAT GREAT. IMO ALL SHIFTERS SHOULD COME WITH A KNOB AND NOT HAVE TO REUSE OLD ONE.
