Description

Ultimate Upgrade. The SPEC Stage 2+ delivers a unique combination of incredible holding power with great street manners. If you have a forced induction setup in your 2005-2010 Mustang GT and hate the "on-off" feel of true single purpose race clutches, the SPEC Stage 2+ is the ultimate upgrade to your 'Stang, with the capacity to handle 669 ft-lb of torque.

Street And Strip. The SPEC Stage 2+ combines the holding capacity of the Stage 3 clutch with the streetability of the Stage 2, making this clutch perfect for weekend warriors who still want to spend time showing off their high horsepower pony on the street.

Premium Quality. To deliver great holding power without sacrificing driveability, the Stage 2+ features carbon semi-metallic material on one side of the disc with a Kevlar material on the other side. It also features a full face design for smooth engagement for great streetability. The Stage 2+ kit also includes a high clamp pressure plate and alignment tool for an easy installation.

Specifications:

  • Fits 2005-2010 GT Mustangs
  • Torque Rating: 669 ft./lbs.
This Spec Clutch requires the use of a Spec flywheel for proper engagement. AmericanMuscle highly recommends the Steel Flywheel for this Stage 2+ Clutch to avoid warping and optimum results. See the drop down menu option above.

Technical Note:

  • The 2005-2010 Mustang uses a concentric slave cylinder instead of a conventional throwout bearing.
  • Therefore this clutch kit will not include a throwout bearing.
  • It is recommended to install a new SPEC flywheel with this replacement clutch for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT. Look at our flywheel page page for these 2005-2010 steel and aluminum flywheels.

Spec Steel Billet Flywheel

This is a awesome piece from Spec and works well with my Spec 2+ clutch. I have a Magnacharger supercharger @ 10lbs of boost. I'm laying 430rwhp and 433rwtq down and this system is great.

A real review after the breakin period!

    October 15, 2011

I decided that people might want a real review on this product. I will start with the break in period. Spec recommends that you basically drive it around normal, the first 500 miles. It's also preferred that you do most of this in the city. I did about 430 miles in the city and 70 on the highway. The synchros in my stang were going bad so I got this part installed for free at one of the local ford dealerships. I had them resurface the stock flywheel even though there were only around 27k miles on it at the time. Better safe than sorry :) I noticed that the first 500 miles or so were somewhat rough taking off in first gear. It would vibrate pretty hard when I eased out of it in first or reverse. I'm thinking hmm that's weird. The car shouldn't shake like this. I called spec and they told me that it should go away in a few hundred miles. I said ok. I took it back down to the dealership just to verify everything was correct. Basically here's the deal. After you get your break in period down, you have to launch that bad boy a couple of times at 4k rpm. That completely cured the vibration in first and second gear. This thing grips like a monster. I can shift the stock shifter faster than most people can do a short throw shifter. No hesitation at all! It grips so much better than the stock clutch. When you google the vibration problems with the spec stage 2+ clutch, pay it no attention. That goes away after the 500 mile break in and a couple of hard launches. It drives about 98% stock now, except with an insane grip speed :) I also haven't made any modifications to the motor yet so don't let anyone tell you that this clutch is too strong for your car. Oh I forgot to mention that your car will not cut off if you don't apply enough gas on take off. I was told that, the clutch is so strong that, it will basically kill your motor before it stalls it. Please have experience before getting this clutch or you might need a new motor :) This is also may daily driver.

    Spec stage 2 plus

    March 31, 2011

Clutch came with good instructions. The clutch has stock like driveablity. It was grabbing great first time out. I highly recommend it to anyone with bigger power adders. I can't get over how smooth the clutch operates.

Spec Stagge 2+ 05-10 gt review

    March 25, 2012

This clutch wasnt to bad to insatll. I had a lift so it made it alot easier. The break in wasn't to bad either, it did shake a bit but that is normal and after the break in mileage i launched it hard a couple of times and this clutch is smmoth and grabs like a champ. I also bought the spec billet steel flywheel as well. Still need to take my car to the track but mroe to come on that. The driveability of it is very streetable as well.
