This clutch set up has a very nice pedal feel, a lot softer than stock. Also has very smooth engagement.

        Very happy

I recently had this installed in my 07 GT500 (896 HP at the crank). Haven't had a chance to really drive it yet due to snow, but I was shocked to feel how light it it. When I pushed it in to start the car, I almost went back in the shop and asked them if it was broken because it didn't require much pressure to apply. It will take some getting used to. I have a 4:10 rear end and when downshifting the momentum of the car actually made me apply the clutch. My install was $795.00 but I have custom built headers that caused them some trouble.

        Good but noisey.

Just installed the RXT in my 2009 Shelby GT. Clutch is not broken in yet (need 500 miles) so it's hard to give it a fair eval. So far it's smooth but it's really noisy. From what I read, other folks call it the "double disc rattle" and that the noise is normal. I contacted McCleod about the noise and they said it was typical but will improve as it breaks in. We'll see.

        Like a new car

So ford messed up on the factory clutch for the 2007-2009 Ford Mustang GT500. This RXT makes the car feel like a brand new car. I bought the car 2 years ago with only 12K miles on it and always suspected something was wrong with the clutch, once it started slipping real bad I researched and found lots of good recommendations about this clutch. I had a shop install it for around $450 and even before the 500 mile break in, this clutch makes the car feel like a brand new car. American muscle again has best prices and speedy delivery, this is a must have if you are suffering with the ford factory clutch.

        Great Clutch

This clutch is far superior to the factory clutch it replaced. Nice soft pedal and hooks up hard.

        Big improvement over OEM

This is my third replacement clutch - the first two were Ford replaced under warranty. The RXT is lighter and quicker to engage. No chatter. It is like a different car to drive - pure joy!

Will this clutch work for daily driving? I have a 2008 GT500 that needs the clutch replaced. I have heard that the OEM clutch from Ford is not very good and wears out very easily. Would this clutch be a better option since I use the car as a daily driver? I have also upgraded the car to 605hp, which is more than the 500hp stock, so I assume the higher hp wears the clutch faster. Thanks!

      • Yes ,it is true the stock Ford lasted me 3 months, the Spec made me feel like I was legpressing at the gym and nervous in traffic(engagement to disengagement transition non existant,w/tuning that made 800 hp available instantly) It was a scary period!!The McLeod RXT from A.M. that I just had installed is the way to go ! I love it!Thanks Amer. Muscle!

Do I need to purchase a Mcleod Throwout bearing/slave cylinder to Go along with this clutch?

      • Do you need it, probably not. On the other hand, look what your considering: A clutch/flywheel combo able to hold 1000 hp. If your pushing mods up in that direction, I would highly advise it with the stress your placing on the other components to go for it. After all, remember what the shift brackets look like that Ford puts on stock? If she is your prize give her the full detail. Ride hard, ride safe!
