I have a 2009 V6. To install these, which dual exhaust conversion kit should I buy? For the most aggressive "throaty" sound.

So what is the functional difference between these and Pypes muffler delete? Do these actually contain any sound deadening matrials in them?

  • These axle-backs are going to be fairly similar, but they will have a different sound. I suggest checking out some sound clips to see which one you like best. Both mufflers are not packed, so they are going to be very loud.

Whats the difference between the slp loudmouth axel back exhaust and the SLP Loudmouth resonators also can the resonators be installed on a 2005-2009 mustang v6 ?

  • Hello! The SLP Loudmouth Axle-Back Exhaust is a full axle back that includes exhaust tips, and would bolt up in place of your factory exhaust. The SLP Loudmouth Resonators, however, are replacements for the factory resonators on a 79-04 Mustang. Attempting to install them on an 05-09 V6 Mustang will likely require cutting and/or welding of the factory exhaust.

Will The SLP axle back exhaust fit a v6 ford racing duel exhaust? Will it need to be retuned if it does? I have a ford racing cold air intake, a BBK 70mm throttle body, Pypes shorty headers, and the Ford Racing duel exhaust conversion kit. Also a Bama racing tune. Thanks

  • This axleback is designed only for GT and GT500 models. It will not fit a V6 model. Installed parts are not eligible for return.

Are these stright or resonated

  • This axle-back exhaust is straight and not resonators.

Can these be modified in any way to fit on a 2004 mustang gt v8?

  • Hi, This axle-back exhaust is designed to fit on the factory 05-10 GT and GT500 bends and mounting locations, I suggest using the SLP Loudmouth II Mufflers Item#23027 for the 79-04 Mustang. Here is the link

    Great sound!

install was a breeze and it dramatically increased the sound of my 4.6 motor on my 2010 GT. The tips look great especially without that bulky muffler poking out from under the car like other models of exhaust like the stock. helps to clean up the rear end. Sounds amazing, much louder than stock, little drone at 2000 rpm but that doesn't bother me. Sound is perfect!

I never really liked my neighbors.

My wife bought me these as my wedding gift, we got married this last Saturday. Well I installed these this morning and it took approximately two hours to install not using jack stands. All of the hangers except the driver side front mount are easy to remove. The driver side front mount has a bolt in between the body and stock muffler that's not easy to see or get to. Once that was out things went smooth. Left everything loose, tightened the hanger mounts, started with the front clamp and worked towards the rear, fitment was perfect. When I first started the car I rolled it out of the garage and down the driveway and I'm sure glad I did. It is loud!!!! I have a Pypes off road x-pipe, Hot Rod cams, intake, tune and these. It is very loud and made me nervous to drive it. Once I drove it I realized it was worth it. Very loud from idle to about 2500 rpm and just mean from there on up. It's hard to describe the sound other than nasty!! I'm sure I woke a dead squirrel in the road. I love this exhaust and I'm glad I have a wonderful wife who appreciates them too. I would definitely recommend them if you want your car to sound like no other.

    Best buy for your money

Installed this last night on my 2010 GT and for two people who haven't played with exhaust systems before, it went pretty smooth. Had a little trouble lining up the driver side but passenger went smooth. The sound is amazing.

    Thunder from your pipes!

Really opens up the note from stock or even an aftermarket setup. 3~4k rpm sounds like god letting one rip after chilli night!

    A Monster

SLP Loudmouths are the meanest exhaust for a 05-08 Mustang period. At idle they sound mean. At cruising speeds they sound mean. At wide open throttle they sound like an animal. I have heard Mustangs with Borla, Flowmaster, and even Magnaflow and they dont even come close to the SLP Loudmouths. If you have a stock GT and your planning to add some high performance goodies to your car, then the SLP Loudmouths are the perfect start. I paid about $340 for them, but I would have paid up to $600 for them I am so happy with this product. and SLP are the best!

    2010 GT w/ SLP

Very loud when you step on it but I also passed a couple of police roadblocks with SLPs and they didn't say a word. It truly depends on how you drive. But even when it is quiet it really sound powerful and growly. I'm entirely satisfied with the sound, the delivery and how easy it was to install. I recommend this to any stang addict who'd like a muscle car tone.

I hesitated buying these because I thought they would be to loud, but I'm glad I got them. Not only is the sound just awesome, but it's not obnixious loud like I originally thought. Don't get me wrong they are loud but it's not to much. Chances are if your looking for an exhaust you trying to increase the sound and this is the one you need. Very raspy deep tone and I can tell you first hand it will turn heads. This exhaust will transform the attitude of your ride. Installation was a breeze, however it does take a little bit of time to get them just right.

    SLP 2008 GT

After doing extensive research into what axle back exhaust to get I finally decided on the SLP Loudmouths. This Truly brings out the sound of your V8. Not to say the stock mufflers were bad, but after hearing these things, I don't think I will ever go back. Before it purred, now it spits and pops. Once things heat up it really isn't obnoxiously loud. You can hear it faintly as you cruise down the road, but put your foot into it and watch out! You will not forget they are there! Install was easy. I didn't even have to jack the car up. It might be slightly easier if you do but it's not required. You will notice it is easier to put the SLPs on than it is to take the stock ones off. Alignment can be a little tricky. Make sure you don't tighten everything but rather have it lose so you can position things correctly the first time through. Steve McQueen would be proud of these!

    Great, however...

This kit sounds great, don't get me wrong. In the lower gears/rpms it has an aggressive, deep growl that's not too loud, but definitely noticeable. However, if you are buying it strictly based off of the comparison video - DO SOME MORE RESEARCH FIRST!! From what I can find and based on my own experience, this kit sounds NOTHING like the exhaust in the video. Luckily, I liked the way it turned out. Install was very easy, no issues even for someone with zero mechanical experience.

    2010 Mustang GT

Just finished installing my Loudmouths. Installation took a little longer than anticipated because a couple of the exhaust hanger bolts were apparently crossthreaded from the factory. When I went to back the bolts out they were binding and I knew they were crossthreaded. Upon reinstallation of the bolts, they would spin out and could not be torqued down tightly. If this happens to you, a little Loctite Thread Locker will fix the problem. You may also need to grind a quarter to half inch off of the driver side exhaust tip hanger rod. The rod is a little long and will touch the rear bumber frame thus preventing the proper extension of the tip through the rear plastic fender exhaust cutout. Delivery was lightning quick - ordered them on a Sunday and received them Tuesday afternoon! The Loudmouths sound great !

    Don't think, buy!

The SLP Loudmouths are hands down the best axle-back you can buy for your mustang GT. After weeks of research on different exhaust, I finally landed on SLP for my 2010 GT and I could not be happier! The sounds is LOUD and throaty; what a mustang should sound like! If you're even considering this product, look no further! American Muscle does a great job with fast shipping and competitive pricing. Will come back for all of my Mustang needs.

At first i was hesitant about buying these, i thought they would be too loud inside the car and get annoying at times, but honestly, its not obnoxiously loud inside unless you have the windows down, and it has a great tone to it. I listened to so many youtube videos on this exhaust, but in real life it sounds 100 times better than any video can make it sound!

Just installed the loudmouth today. Had to wait eight days for shipping because I live in canada but it arrived hastle free. Install took around two hours for me, could be done in less for the experienced wrench man. It was easy and when I fired it up ohhhh man it sounds sweet. Just a note if your picky like me you should start with the drivers side first as it helps with alligning the fitting for the other side so they both stick out the exact length. Such a great product and really makes you feel like your driving a muscle car. Now I need more thanks AM

The SLP Loud Mouth exhaust has a great sound if you like the old school muscle car sound. The install was easy and the fit and finish was excellent but I highly suggest the following the instructions and not tightening everything up till last for adjustments.

    Classic Mustang throaty Sound

I just got my SLP loudmouths and I am very pleased. The fit and finish were top notch. Installation actually took me about 2 hours but that was because I was interrupted about 10 times during the install. The hardest part of the whole installation was getting the old mufflers off. Once installed, the magic begins. The sound is absolutely gorgeous. I was worried at first because of all the online videos make them sound terrible. I can say right now that these videos do NOT do any justice for these pipes. While I thought the price was a little steep, it is nowhere near as high as other brands. If you are budget minded and looking for that old school sound, then worry no more. Buy these axle back pipes. You will be glad that you did.
