    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m going to be breaking down Pypes Violator Axle-back exhaust for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT. Even though the Violator uses what appears to be a traditional chambered muffler design, much like your factory exhaust or even the Magnaflow street, but instead of this muffler being filled with sound baffles, which can actually keep your sound levels down, the Violator from Pypes actually includes some sound deflectors into the muffler design, which give you a very aggressive exhaust note. Those rude sounding mufflers are constructed from thick 409 grade stainless steel, and exit out of these dual 4” polished tips, which feature a very cool rolled edge and slashed cut for a unique, quality look. Since the Violator bolts into the stock location without any modification, getting everything installed should only take you about an hour using a basic socket set. Now let’s hear how Pypes Violator series axle-back sounds compared to our factory exhaust.

Increase Performance. Bolting on a Pypes Violator Axle-Back to a stock 2005 to 2010 GT will yield an instant 5 to 10 horsepower gain! It features two Violator mufflers for Pypes ultimate in flow (and power gain) with an ultra aggressive sound!

Aggressive Sound. Pypes Axle-Back features the Violator "Rude Sound" muffler that uses an internal louvered tube with mini sound deflector chambers that result of a unique aggressive sound.

Quality Construction, OEM Fit. This Axle-Back system from Pypes is constructed from high quality 409 Stainless Steel and features 4" rolled edge, slash cut, polished 304 stainless tips that exit in the stock location for aggressive muscle car looks.

Application. The Pypes Violator Axle-Back is designed to fit the 2005-2010 GT, 2008-2009 Bullitt and 2007-2010 Shelby GT500 Mustangs.

Technical Note: Americanmuscle recommends adding the 2005+ Mustang 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Hanger Kit from the drop down option above, to provide more strength, stability and a cleaner installed appearance. If you have a 2007 Mustang you may need the kit for correct installation.

How bad does it drone? I have an 06 GT with really quiet flowmasters on it and I was wondering how these compare to mine in volume and restricions. Mine are almost the same as stock, just a little louder. And I was wondering how bad do they drone at an idle and at highway speeds?

    Bozzman

    • I have them on my 2005 GT, and when I got them I didnt realize I had a bad throttle body and they had terrible drone, but that was because I had a throttle body sensor failure. I got my throttle body fixed and I no longer have any drone! They may have some at first, but once they get worked in a little it will subside. Overall, I love their sound over any other pipes on the market!

will this a pypes dual exhaust on a 07 v6?

    JustinA

    • The Pypes Violator Axle-Back Exhaust will not fit an 07 V6. This is test fitted for 05-10 GT, GT500.

Do I need the extra bracket kit for this install?

    AndrewW

    • The Pypes Violator Axle-Back Exhaust would not require the additional exhaust hangers for installation on 2005-2010 GT and GT500's.

I really like the sound of these for my next mod but I'm not exited about the idea of loosing low end. How much low end torque is lost on a stock car with CAI/tune?

    Antirice

    • The amount of low end you will lose will not even be noticeable. There is not enough back pressure built up by the rear mufflers to make a big difference in power. I think this will be a great mod for your Mustang!

will this reduce backpressure/popping sound? I am using Pypes Pype Bombs and recently got an off road pipe installed and it is just WAY too loud and has that obnoxious popping sound, will this reduce that but still make it sound mean and loud

    chandlir76

    • Yup , shure will. The pype bomb design is one that mimics the classic design of a glass pack. And that design is one that gives that popin sound. The chambered style mufflers like this one give a much deeper tone.

Will installing this exhaust require a tune? Is a tune recommended?

    dstarjp

    • No tune would be required for an axle-back installation. Simply bolt on and enjoy!

Good, solid mufflers, fit was not very good.

When I bought my car it had muffler delete pipes on it. I didn't want to do that to my neighbors every morning, so I order these. They are pretty quiet until to rev up the engine, then they have a great sound...just what I wanted. However, they did not fit well on my 2005 Mustang. I had to alter the hangers to get them to fit right, which took 4x longer to install than it should have.

      Great sounding exhaust

I ordered these and they arrived just as promised. A friend of mine and I installed this past weekend. It took us a little longer to install than the website indicated but we are definitely weekend/amateur mechanics. The website recommended that I get new hanger brackets but it recommended only two when it should have recommended four. Not sure they were necessary as the old hangers seemed to be fine and I reused two of them. I still need to adjust one of the exhaust tips as it isn't pointed completely straight out the back. However, these mufflers sound great on my '07 California Special. I'm completely happy with the sound. Overall, great service and product. I would recommend.

      Too much drone!!!!

I have these on my car now. They sound GREAT, except when you're inside the car and goung 55-60mph!!! My wife and kids all hate to ride in the car for thus reason alone. Save your money and put it into something tuned for the car like the Ford Performance FR500S (M-5230-s)!!!

Looks awesome, sounds even better! Easy install. I'm very impressed by the fit and finish. The chrome tips fill the stock exhaust cutout panel much better than stock. Very happy about how it turned out.

      OK product, great price

I have a 2010 GT with factory exhaust and these mufflers are much louder with a low rumble at idle. When you get on the gas, it isn't extremely loud by any means which is exactly what I was looking for. HOWEVER, I must warn there is a heavy drone sound from 1,500 - 1,900 rpms that is head numbing at first. After a few weeks, I got used to it. For the price, I cannot complain because it's almost half the price of some of the other set ups. Also, for time it takes to install...why are my only options "less than an hour" or "an afternoon"????????????? I feel like there is a missing option in between.

      Good Exhaust for the Price

Easy to install, pass side hanger was a little off center. They sound good but have a drone around 1800RPM which I only notice on the freeway. For under 300 bucks I cant complain. Bought my car used with straight pipes and needed to quite it down, this did the job.

Pypes Violator Axle back great for the price

The finish was pretty good fit as with any axle back took a lot of adjusting to get them perfect. Volume is pretty decent not super loud but louder than stock. I would say for the price these are real nice sure you could get better but you will pay more. I'm happy with the outcome. If you are a perfectionist look for it to take the afternoon to install ,but that is only for perfect alignment.

      Drones at Low RPMs

I went from a cheap straight-pipe to this (cheap mufflers). I still miss the Flowmaster American Thunder's that were on my 2006 when I bought it. In short: You get what you pay for boys and girls. There is nothing troubling, but also nothing special about these mufflers from my perspective. They fit fine, but are very quiet in most situations compared to my SSS straight-pipes (duh), and annoyingly drone pretty bad in all gears below 2500 rpm. For the price, why not? The Violator's are a good deal. But I don't get all the love expressed in other reviews either.
