Description
Race Ready. Give your V6 the edge it needs to win by improving off-the-line response with a lightweight billet aluminum flywheel from SPEC. SPEC's billet aluminum flywheel is pounds lighter than the stock one that came on your V6 - reducing rotational mass and delivering your peak horsepower faster when you romp on it at the starting line. Shave precious tenths off your time with with this quick-shifting, responsive flywheel.

Premium Quality. When you're adding a new flywheel to your Mustang, you want a premium quality part that will deliver both performance and durability. SPEC Billet Aluminum Flywheels are machined to a .001 tolerance (other brands are only made to .01) and designed and weighted for the perfect balance and surface to compliment your new clutch.

Protects Your Investment. When replacing your clutch you have two options: resurfacing your flywheel, or getting a new flywheel. Most times, getting a new flywheel is better than resurfacing, as the flywheel will dictate how well your clutch will perform, as well as how long it will last.

Rebuildable. A cheaper flywheel won't stay that way - SPEC's aluminum flywheels have a replaceable steel friction plate which makes this flywheel rebuildable. And this flywheel surface is also made from a special type of steel specifically designed to help your new clutch "bed in" properly and to promote superior grip - so this might just be the last flywheel you ever have to buy.

SFI Certified. If you're using this flywheel in high performance or racing applications, SFI Certification is critical so you can run your Pony at the track or strip. And it's great for peace of mind even in a daily driver - at higher RPMs, stock cast flywheels have been known to explode.

    flywheel

after installing car shakes bad. after pulling the trans. out again and calling am, they informed me that if your installing this flywheel on a 99 or newer mustang then remove the counter weight on the back of the flywheel. really would have been nice if they put some kind of warning tag on the box or flywheel about that. besides that didnt really do anything. and by weight the flywheel is not much lighter at all.

Like people review here 99-04 don't need this balance weight. Here's how to tell BEFORE you put it all together and get fustrated doing it all over again. IF your old flywheel has a balance weight on it *KEEP THE NEW ONE ON* if there is not one take it off and you will be okay. Over all great product. Can really notice a difference with the revs and keeps it higher long when dropping gears which is a real treat. Well recommended when changing clutch!

94-04 Spec Aluminum Flywheel - Great part

I installed the flywheel on my 1996 Mustang 3.8L. The flywheel fits perfect just like a factory part. FYI if you have the external balance engine (usually 94-98) then you should be able to take the flywheel right out of the box and install it. (99-04 years should contact spec tech about weight,or if you are unsure) Per spec tech, the weight is installed on the correct spot on the flywheel for stock external balanced engines. The spec flywheel is about 20lbs lighter than the factory part, and you really notice difference after about 2500 rpms. the engine feels very free and accelerates much more quickly. I also noticed that the engine was more responsive across the board when accelerating. There is no engine vibration at all at any rpm smooth as glass just like the factory part.

    Spec Aluminum Flywheel

This flywheel looks wicked and makes the car rev faster to boot. If you swap this out with a new clutch and shifter like i did get ready to re-learn how to drive your pony, it feels like a new car, nothing like it did before. Stronger, faster reving and grips with the spec stage one clutch super hard. Thanks American Muscle.

    Exceeded expectations

i own a transmission shop in lakewood ,co and after installing this fly wheel added quite a bit of power. i installed it with the under drive pulley and specs clutch and am impressed to say the least.

great product... research your balance first ppl

i bought a aluminum flywheel awhile ago ... i made the same mistake like many others with the balance of the motor whether it was external or internal ... there needs to a be an instruction sheet for explaining it better ... but for a lot of ppl need to pay attention... the shake most feel is cause you need to either install or remove the counter weight... this is a great product and made my v6 scream ... be smart ppl have common sense

found out why it would die

well it turns out the reason it would die is beacause on my mustang which is the 99-04 selection the motor is internally balanced and the fly wheel came with a counter balance weight on it that is made for the 94-98 model. all you got to do is take off the balance weight and it fixes the problem. this is a really good mod btw american muscle you kick ass. with every thing set up right this flywheel feels like it gave my car 15 hp no lie. :)

    helps power

this flywheel really woke up my v6 but in the same sense i put it in with a stage 2 clutch and when i got my transmission mounted and every thing done i started it up the car shakes at idle and when driving it. i have no idea why but i almost feel like its the light weight flywheel that is throwing my engine off balance and if that is the case then there is no point of buying this part because youll have to spend about 800 dollars more to get the internal of the engine balanced to this fly wheel. and its a minor mod
