    Solid aftermarket intake

    February 22, 2011

Good aftermarket intake, requires you to remove the strut brace but not a problem for me as my car is set up for drag racing not cornering. Seems to pull air in a much higher volume compared to the factory intake. Noticed mild gains especially in higher rpm's where the IMRC's open up. Installation was pretty simple if your handy with tools. Quality is fine, not OEM obviously but its a quality aftermarket performance mod. In my opinion its prob the best intake for a 96-98 cobra as long as you dont mind taking the strut brace off. Would prefer this intake over any of the ones that go into your fender well, price is right too on this product. Overall 5 stars

    JLT upper

    January 13, 2011

This setup looks amazing, works very well, but is also a huge pain to put on. You would think it would slip rite on but it doesn't. The hard part is that the top coupler pipe is a weird shape so you will have to fight for positioning after you fight to get the pipe in it and clamped in. You will have to stratagise and man handle it. After trial and error...I first put the pipe and upper coupler together and clamped it 75% then slid it on the tbody and clamped that 100%. Then finagled and slid in on the MAS and tightened everything completely. It is well worth the trouble though if you don't mind losing the strut tower brace. Perfect for mostly dd/drag cars imo. I gave it 4/5 bc of installation difficulty.

    JLT RAI

    December 27, 2010

I got to say you get what you pay for with this product! By far the hardest intake system I've ever installed on any car in my life! Didn't like the fact that I had to lose the sturt bar and that the heat shield didn't fit at all! With that said... It did help my 96 Cobra sound alittle better at idle and alot better at WOT! Don't think I would purchase this intake ever again, wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you're on a tight budget like me, and I should've saved up for the cold air kit instead! That's why it gets only 2 stars from me!

    Good

I like the intake. The heat shield didnt fit the night i put it on but as i worked with it over the next week i got it to fit. I highly doubt it gave me 16rwhp as the site claims, but it defintely added some throttle response. Overall it was a great product.

    really nice

    November 17, 2010

okay so i put this product on my 96 cobra the other day and i have noticed a difference. not a very big difference in instant power or torque but at the high speed and high rpm's. If you have to get around someone on the expressway its perfect. Plenty of power noticed up there in rpms but is slightly lacking in low end torque although i realize that the 4.6 motors reguardless of gt or cobra is lacking the low end torque that you would see on a 5.0 motor but none the less its noticable and lets be honest thats all that matters right. ok ther part was easy to install but please take ur time at doing this. Its very cramped and tight in there and that big gigantic filter doesnt make it any easier. I would suggest that while you got your MAF off take off the sensor and spray with the MAF cleaning spray it will help especially while you've got it apart. I also installed this part from the filter to the throttle body. BE CAREFULL that while your putting on ur hoses not to move them around a whole lot this is not aluminum so the fittings can break fairly easily when trying to force the hoses on the fittings. I would recommend this toanybody whom wants to add alittle quick power to their car as well as extra sound too. But note that if u have aftermarket exhaust and flowmasters especailly on the cobra that you wont hear it very loudly its noise has been dimmed from the sound of the exhaust so no real big sucking sound. It looks great and its big so when u raise the hood it sticks out like just this big power adding part that is just overwhelmin your engine compartment so thats very nice. so all in all very nice part be carefull noticeable power at high rpms and a great look for about an hour or so of your time well worth the money.

    Needs refinement

    July 31, 2010

MAF adapter stripped out on one hole on assembly. Not torquing down on it either, just going for a snug fit. I will tap a new set of holes. Problem with the stud from the hood scoop/vent on the hood starting to punch a hole in the 45* coupling within 4 days of install. Ground down the stud flush to the nut to stop from punching all the way through. No idea of how I'm supposed to use the rubber hose to mate to the passenger side valve cover, since the directions don't have photos of how this is supposed to fit. Fortunately I had spare parts from a Lincoln Mark VIII to make it work. In addition the 90* fitting that the hose attaches to on the intake, is in direct contact with the valve cover/plug wire covers which increase overall height. Heat shield will fit if you use a spacer or such to stand it away from the fenderwell. Look at the photo that shows it installed and you will see one there. Looks like they used the rubber isolator from the stock airbox. As the intake begins to transition from oval to round, the overall height increases which causes 2 things to occur. 1. Rubs on hood liner. (as noted in description) 2. Keeps the filter/air filter assy from lining up with the coupling and PVC pipe. (may be able to avoid if not using heat shield) Overall it is a decent product if you're looking for a low price, complete air intake. You may have better results.
