Simple installation for anyone.
Hey guys, Alex from americanmuscle.com, and today I'm bringing you my quick review and breakdown of the SR Performance Aluminum Cold Air Intake in black, fitting the 2005 through 2009 Mustang GT. So In this video, I'm gonna talk about who this kit's going to appeal to. The construction and materials that went into this. What you should be expecting in terms of performance. What you should expect to be spending, and then we'll take a very quick look at what's entailed to get this installed. Where I'm gonna be giving this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and about an hours worth of labor, but I'll have a little bit more for you on that later. So the SR cold intake that I have here today should definitely appeal to any three-valve GT owner out there that no matter your intentions or what you're doing with your car, be it having just the more improved daily driver, weekend warrior, or a show car. This is definitely gonna appeal to you or any Mustang owner out there that's looking to improve your throttle response, horsepower, and torque, all while making it look that much cleaner under your hood. So not only is this gonna be a great mod for some of the aforementioned reasons here, but this is hands down one of the first modifications that most if not all car enthusiasts should throw into their car, as it's again gonna help throttle response, torque, as well as horsepower. But something that I really like about this kit is the fact that it's not gonna require a custom tune or a handheld tuner. And that's gonna be due to the fact that this sleeve right here, or essentially where your map goes is gonna be fooling your engine computer from throwing any type of codes. All right guys, so taking a look at the construction and materials here. It was evident right out of the box. This is definitely a very well-built kit despite this being a very bargain friendly option. Now, we're gonna see that this is gonna be manufactured out of aluminum which is then gonna be hit with a black wrinkle coat finish. Which is a little bit tough to see based on where you're watching this from, but it's honestly something that's very sharp. This is going to come included with absolutely everything to get this onto your car. Including the couplers, even your filter right here which I might add that this is going to be a washable and reusable option. So when it comes time, and it's a little bit on the dirty side, simply pull it out, give it a little bath, throw it back in, and you're good to go.Now one thing that I do want to mention is that with an aluminum intake in comparison to a roto-molded plastic style, it's not gonna yield as high horsepower numbers as what you might find with a plastic, and that's gonna be due to metal contracting and expanding when it heats and cools. Now at the end of the day with a three-valve GT, I would expect to be picking up high to single high numbers here. But if you're really looking to maximize your gains, I might suggest pairing this with a handheld tuner as it will yield that much more horsepower. All right guys, so in terms of the pricing here, you should expect to be spending only about 200 bucks for this kit. Which in my opinion is very aggressively priced, and is gonna be somewhat for the budget minded person out there that doesn't wanna spend an arm and a leg on a cold air intake. Now on the flip side here, if you're gonna be looking at some of the other options on the website, you're gonna see that their pricing can and will fluctuate a lot. It's gonna be based on the brand, the materials, as well as what kind of filter it's gonna come with. But at the end of the day, I really think this is gonna be a great investment for someone that's looking to pick up a little bit of horsepower, torque, throttle response, as well as make their factory intake look that much better. Okay guys, so switching gears to the installation portion of the video. Just like I had said up top. You're gonna be looking at a very straight forward one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and about an hours worth of labor to get this onto your car. Now the ease of installation is definitely a huge selling point for me, as it should be for any motorhead out there. As it doesn't matter if you're a novice wrencher, or if you're a very experienced backyard mechanic, you're not looking at anything nuts to get this on. I suggest having a full socket set, a little bit of patience, and maybe a six-pack of beer. Now I do want to mention that this is gonna be a quick glance at what's entailed to get this installed onto your GT. A couple steps might be missing, but you're gonna have a very solid set of install instructions to help you get this onto your car. But to start, you're gonna need to pull your negative battery terminal, pull a couple breather hoses and clamps from your throttle body, and then start working down to your air filter or air box portion on the car. So once you're down to your air box, you're simply gonna pull the 10-millimeter bolts, work back up to your master flow sensor. Carefully remove that, as if it's damaged, you're not gonna be a happy camper. And once everything's out, it's gonna be as simple as throwing everything back together in your car. And again, very simple one out of three in the difficulty meter. Probably around an hour to get this onto your car. All right guys, so just to wrap things up here, some final thoughts. I definitely like this option from SR based on the fact that this will be one of the most budget-friendly options that we carry on the website. Not only that, it's gonna look great under the hood, help you pick up a couple horsepower and improve your throttle response, and even make a little bit more noise under the hood. So that's my quick review and breakdown of the SR Performance Aluminum Cold Air Intake in black fitting your 2005 through 2009 Mustang GT. Available right here at americanmuscle.com

Cold Air Intake
Ok first off this thing is freaking huge. Like I had no idea how cool it looks under the hood- especially when I pop it for my car friends and their eyes pop out too. Great looking piece and sounds awesome. Love tapping the gas and hearing the air being sucked in. Install was very simple and fits right on. HOWEVER. The second hose clamp up towards the throttle body is very difficult to attach. I had to be extremely careful stretching it so as not to snap it. Performance wise it adds a few ponies to the belt. Mainly using it as a head turner and a starter mod to build off of. NOTE—- it did throw a check engine light for me for awhile. Shifting seemed a tad wonky but nothing to throw a fit over. Cleaning is also very simple as wellHelpful (0)

Great for sound and MPG
Installing the product was slightly questionable as the heat shield and a couple other parts had to be forced into position and aren't shaped to where they need to be in the end. However It went on eventually decently easy, and it looks and sounds great, from what I have drove it so far it has improved my MPG by 3-4 and there is a noticeably different feel. It also sounds great with no raspy air sound and has improved my exhaust tone and engine sound. (leave yourself more than a hour if you haven't done this before but won't take more than a hour and a half to two hours.Helpful (0)

The parts don’t fit well at all I had to buy a extended censor because the stock one isn’t long enough there is basically no instructions and the intake pip is supposed to connect to the box but it doesn’t reach by far.Helpful (1)

Nice polished aluminum intake
A good looking under hood mod and paired with a tune it works well. Super easy install but you will need to extend the pvc hose from the passenger valve cover. Which is easily done using a piece of 3/8 rubber fuel line and the original quick release fittingsHelpful (0)

SR Air intake
Had a hard time trying to get it too seal around the intake. The hookup to the engine to the coolair intake was to short .However got it stretched far enough to hook it up,I unhooked the negative battery post from the battery as recommended. Got it all hooked up. Cracked up car check engine light came on wouldn't go off.Helpful (0)

Looks good, works
Product looks good. Cone filter seemed a little cheap and flimsy. I was under the impression (from QandA's I'd read) that it would come with a hose to connect to the PCV, but it did not. I used some spare hose I had laying around and got it to work. Also, this style does not work perfectly with aftermarket intake mani and TB. The joint connecting the two chunks of tube rests on the power steering reservoir. Overall good for a cheaper CAI.Helpful (0)

Cold air intake
Great performance upgrade also noticed a difference in exhaust soundHelpful (0)
I bought a 2006 Mustang GT 4.6 with your Cold Air Intake already installed. I live in Calif. and when I went to smog it they said I need a sticker with a code to put into the States emissions. Can you help with this? Either I need the sticker our the code necessary for it to pass smog. Thanks
The SR Performance Aluminum Cold Air Intake is not CARB compliant, and will not have a CARB sticker or EO Number.
What is everyone using for their pcv hose , as it’s to short to connect to the intake. I have a bank 1 and bank 2 running lean code and I believe it’s coming from my dry rotted/ tapped up to make longer pcv hose.
The SR Performance Aluminum Cold Air Intake will include a section of hose for applications requiring a longer PCV hose. If your kit did not include this, please contact our Customer Service department so that we may assist you with this further.
Will this fit a 4.6 GT V8 C/S ?
The SR Performance Aluminum Cold Air Intake will fit the 07'-09' California Special Mustang GT.
Do I need to disconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable before installation having in mind there will be no extra computer tunes applicable?
You would not need to disconnect the battery when installing this intake. However anytime working under the hood, would not be a bad thing to disconnect he battery.
How much horsepower will this add?
Yes, the SR Performance Aluminum Cold Air Intake will work well on all 2005-09 GT models.
Yes, after cleaning the filter, it will need to be re-oiled.

Hello, LeighGT5U3920574 when something like this occurs what I would recommend would be to check all of your connections and get the check engine light read.
The SR Performance Aluminum Cold Air Intake is not compatible with shaker hoods without modification.
You can clean the filter with soap and water. Remember to rinse the filter extremely well with lower pressure water. Allow the filter to completely air dry. You do not want to install the filter while there is still water in it. As for oil for the filter, I suggest the K&N Recharge Kit. You can use most filter oiling kits with the SR Performance Filter.
With the SR Performance Aluminum Cold Air Intake - Polished (05-09 GT) you are looking to get about 10-15HP gain. However each car is different and the environment around you will also factor into how much HP your car gains.
Hello, you would have to search for a Cold Air Intake that would have a CARB EO Number, unfortunately the SR Performance Aluminum Cold Air Intake - Polished (05-09 GT) does not have a CARB EO Number, so this Cold Air Intake wouldn't be legal in California. You would have to find a Cold Air Intake like the C&L Street Cold Air Intake w/ 83mm MAF - No Tune Required (05-09 GT) http://www.americanmuscle.com/cnl-cai-0509gt.html for example. Notice how it has a CARB EO Number and it also states: "CARB Certified. Best of all, this Mustang C&L Cold Air Intake Kit is 50-state smog legal under Carb EO# D-640. Carb Certification is for models with a production date of 5/2005 or later."
I am sorry but the SR Performance CAI is not CARB Certified. If a product like a Cold Air Intake is CARB certified, we will list the CARB EO number under the Features and Description on the product page. Do want to make a note that, some CAIs we carry for the 2005-2009 Mustangs are only CARB for certain years. If you have a 2007 GT, the Airaid Cold Air Intake with the Sythamax Dry Filter is CARB Certified. Hope this helps!
