Improves Horsepower. This SR Performance Cold Air Intake kit completely replaces the factory air box and restrictive paper filter element in your 2005- 2009 V6 Mustang with a high flow filter assembly for a noticeable increase in horsepower and throttle response while filtering out destructive power robbing dust particles. This CAI pulls cooler denser air from inside the inner fender well to make more power that you can feel.

Reusable Filter. Included in this kit is a High Flow reusable air filter. So no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Polished Finish. An SR Performance Cold Air Intake not only improves horsepower and acceleration, but it also improves your Mustang's under hood appearance with a striking polished aluminum finish. Now you can have the best of both worlds, performance and style.

Simple Install. SR Performance Cold Air Intake kits are relatively easy to install with basic hand tools. No extra modifications are required for the installation. See the video below for an overview of the installation process.

Technical Note. The Mass Airflow Housing and Sensor are not included. This kit is designed to reuse the factory unit.

How much horse power do you gain with this CAI? How much horse power and will this make my new flowmaster american thunder muffler sound better?

    • I can't say exactly but you'll probabely pick-up about 10+ HP. I also think it'll sound better because it can bring in better air. (If it can breathe better it'll sound better.)

Could I fit a K&N cone filter on it? I don't see a brand or anything to tell me much about this cold air intake. The price is insanely cheap compared to other cold air intakes so I am slightly skeptical. Could I place a K&N cone on it because I really like the K&N brand.

    • This is the American Muscle brand CAI. The filter is just as good as the K&N Cold Air Kits. If you want the K&N filter, just get the K&N kit, the price of the filter, you would have to purchase separately, would make the cost savings of this kit not worth it. In any event, I would recommend getting an SCT tuner from BAMA Performance to make the most out of this or any future mod. I hope this answers your question and thanks for choosing American Muscle!

After I installed this intake, my check engine light came on. I had my car for a year now and it has not had any problems, until I installed the air intake, what was the reason for the check engine light to come on?

I bought this but have not installed it yet. Although it looks an seems easy to install, I have yet to find anywhere in the customer installation instructions or any of the customer pics, where the support bracket goes. Just to be clear I am not talking about the one that is attached to the chrome pipe, its the separate one.

    • The black heat shield on the SR Performance Cold Air Intake will install to the existing air box mounting locations. Some years will require the isolator/spacer installed due to slight variances in mounting locations.

I installed the intake last night and this morning my check engine light came on. There's nothing wrong with my car, so does anyone know how to get this light to turn off?

    • We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues after installing this SR Performance Cold Air Intake. We would recommend checking the check engine code and seeing what the code is for and diagnosing from there.

air intake for 2007 V6 I have a 2007 V6 mustang. I replaced the factor air filter with a K&N rectangular filter. I was looking on the website and saw the American Muscle cold air intake for $75. The coments statede a 10-15hp gain. I am a bit sceptical of that without tuning as it seems that most cold air intake systems i've seen use smaller diamiter intake pipes tan the factory. Is it the smooth aluminum pipe that helps increase flow? Also, the factory intake pulls air from the fenderwell and the path is completely isolated by the factory air box. What advantage does the heat shield provide over the box? Any information is appreaciated. Thank you. 3 answers

6 Months After Install Review/ DO NOT BUY

At first I thought it was great, no problems to show for around a month. After that check engine lights throwing lean codes, misfires, and to change the mass air flow sensor. Car would idle wildly at stops almost pushing the car forward with my foot on the break at times while sitting at red lights. As a result I drove it much less. 3-5 months would stall out while driving at low speeds and lose all power until next startup. Took off and ran full diagnostic on car at shop. Poorly designed cold air intake, with factory air box back in nice light at all and back driving great.

Installation: less than an hour. Pro's: looks good, more horsepower. Con's: my package was missing a bolt, but no big deal.

      Feel better response

Do notice a better response on the throttle but after installation the engine has come on. Tried to reset it but think it’s because the map sensor that goes into the tube might have thrown a code.

      Rotten Rubber

The installation was very easy, but the rubber on the filter was bad and basically corroded and crumbled to the point that the filter was falling off the pipe. Delivery was good and timely, but without a filter what good is it?

      Not much

Quality about what I expected. so buy a more expensive one and have your car tuned because my check engine light isn’t going off until it’s tuned. So now I have this cheap air intake because I didn’t want to tune with the expensive one. NO INSTRUCTIONS. Snug fit almost too small

SR Performance cold air intake success.

Its a great product that is definitely worth your money. For the price, nothing can beat it. Good performance. I went from 18 miles to the gallon and now i get 22 which made a huge difference in my daily drive and little gain in power not much without a tune but still well worth it.

      Not the greatest

I have bought a lot of CAI's but this one might be the worst, the mounting panel is very tin like and rattles - I had to make my own bracket for it. The filter when I was tightening it ripped because the rubber isn't too good. The tube worked well so I can't really complain about that.

good but made of cheap plastic!

The piping and pieces to fit it worked great but the Actual cold air part didn't even make it a full day. The plastic around the area where it goes onto the piping fell apart. I had to buy a better one from the store... As far as the heat shield went i ended up having to zip tie part of it so it would fit. Over all it looks good but the material is very cheaply made.

Filter is garbage but everything else is great

Install went pretty much perfectly. The ABS bracket mentioned in the video didnt really exist in my car, so there was no bolt but the hole was still there. I just used an extra nut and bolt to secure it. I did have to bend the heatshield a bit, but the box was beat up in shipping a bit. No big deal. What was a big deal was the fact that the filter actually disintegrated not 15 minutes after I installed it. The filter kept sliding off with a loose clamp, so I clamped the hose clamp down enough to actually hold the filter in place. I went for a drive around the block and by the time I got back the check engine light had come on and idle was rough. The filter had literally ripped apart and fallen off. I'm keeping my review at 3 stars because AM handled this extremely well. I went to Advance Auto and bought a $50 KandN filter (only one that fit) that didn't fall apart and ran WAY better anyway. AM happily reimbursed me for the full amount of the filter, so I ended up essentially getting a KandN intake for the price of an SR Performance. Cheers to AM for handling this well. Car runs great now. noticeable power and HUGE mpg gain (a good 5mpg bonus) so I'm happy!

      Disappointed

The item was shipped with no instructions. The air filter was unusable and there was no hardware for the installation. Once I got it on the car the check engine light came on after just a few miles. Now I have to deal with this issue.

      Cold air intake

Install and fit OK, the MAF cable is a real tight stretch from the OEM. Keeps throwing the P0171 low O2 bank one code now. Don't notice much in power gain, but did the plugs wires and dist upgrade at same time, probably wouldn't get again but looks nice

      Clean!!

Gives the engine bay that pop ive been looking for, also you can really feel the throttle response improvement. But if you dont have a tune and or exhaust you may lose power or start to run lean (error code), which is a problem i ran into (deatschwerks 35lb injectors and a tune fixed this). But otherwise, great buy for the price! Also install was easy but no instructions were included :(

      Not good

The filter that came with the intake was cracked. Called customer service and said they couldn’t help because there were marks from a clamp on it. The description says no tune needed but that is false. Your car will run lean without one. Not as fit as it says.

      Debatable

It’s an okay intake, at first I thought it was no tune required right? But just as I get my package I read the reviews and end up having the same problem but I ended up just putting my stock intake back on, it’s threw a code “blank1 and blank 2” I believe? It’s the mass air flow sensor and it’s saying I’m running to lean and it’s stalled on me multiple times after install and it seems to rev more in neutral. Honestly just be ready for a tune and to buy a bigger filter it’s so much better .

      Perfect for the price

Missing instructions and a few fasteners keep this from being 5 star, but perfect for the low price. Install was a snap once I figured it out.
