    • Simple Installation
    • Fits 05-09 4.0L V6 Mustangs

Improves Horsepower. This SR Performance Cold Air Intake kit completely replaces the factory air box and restrictive paper filter element in your 2005- 2009 V6 Mustang with a high flow filter assembly for a noticeable increase in horsepower and throttle response while filtering out destructive power robbing dust particles. This CAI pulls cooler denser air from inside the inner fender well to make more power that you can feel.

Reusable Filter. Included in this kit is a High Flow reusable air filter. So no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Polished Finish. An SR Performance Cold Air Intake not only improves horsepower and acceleration, but it also improves your Mustang's under hood appearance with a striking polished aluminum finish. Now you can have the best of both worlds, performance and style.

Simple Install. SR Performance Cold Air Intake kits are relatively easy to install with basic hand tools. No extra modifications are required for the installation. See the video below for an overview of the installation process.

Technical Note. The Mass Airflow Housing and Sensor are not included. This kit is designed to reuse the factory unit.

How much horse power do you gain with this CAI? How much horse power and will this make my new flowmaster american thunder muffler sound better?

    mustanglover1

    • I can't say exactly but you'll probabely pick-up about 10+ HP. I also think it'll sound better because it can bring in better air. (If it can breathe better it'll sound better.)

Could I fit a K&N cone filter on it? I don't see a brand or anything to tell me much about this cold air intake. The price is insanely cheap compared to other cold air intakes so I am slightly skeptical. Could I place a K&N cone on it because I really like the K&N brand.

    supersixer

    • This is the American Muscle brand CAI. The filter is just as good as the K&N Cold Air Kits. If you want the K&N filter, just get the K&N kit, the price of the filter, you would have to purchase separately, would make the cost savings of this kit not worth it. In any event, I would recommend getting an SCT tuner from BAMA Performance to make the most out of this or any future mod. I hope this answers your question and thanks for choosing American Muscle!

I bought this but have not installed it yet. Although it looks an seems easy to install, I have yet to find anywhere in the customer installation instructions or any of the customer pics, where the support bracket goes. Just to be clear I am not talking about the one that is attached to the chrome pipe, its the separate one.

    • The black heat shield on the SR Performance Cold Air Intake will install to the existing air box mounting locations. Some years will require the isolator/spacer installed due to slight variances in mounting locations.

I installed the intake last night and this morning my check engine light came on. There's nothing wrong with my car, so does anyone know how to get this light to turn off?

    ConnorL

    • We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues after installing this SR Performance Cold Air Intake. We would recommend checking the check engine code and seeing what the code is for and diagnosing from there.

will there be any issues passing the smog test in California for an 09 v6 mustang? also is there a big difference in performance between this cold air intake and the spectre performance cold air intake or is it mostly just brand name?

    Jose

    • The SR Performance Cold Air Intake does not carry a CARB EO # and would not pass smog in California. The Spectre Performance Cold Air Intake will offer similar performance, but will carry a CARB EO #, allowing it to pass California's smog testing.

I have this SR Performance Cold Air Intake (05-09 V6) $104.99 when I install it I can start and stop the car for few times than I will get a code when I got this two years ago it work find for nine months that Sept than i get check eng light place code reader in and its telling me air is getting in some where everything it on Right and good and tight when I put the factory air box back i get No check eng light a zero codes why wont this work on my mustang 2007 4,0 eng SR Performance Chrome is the one i got just wanted to know why it wont work then I put the factory air box back on I have no problem also I've clean the MAS each time I go to install this thing I've even had a gasted made for the MAS because from what the code was telling air was getting somewhere everything was check but still get the same code P 0174 when the Factory box is back on No check eng light and No codes

    07Mustang

    • The DTC P0174 indicates a lean condition in bank two. This means that the passenger side cylinders are running with too much air, and not enough fuel. Typically a leak in the intake tubing after the MAF sensor would cause a matching code for bank one as well as bank two, so this seems to be related to another issue. With changing back to the airbox (and lessening airflow) causing the code to disappear, it sounds like there may be an issue on the fuel side on bank 2, such as dirty injectors, or failing injectors. This could also be caused by a faulty MAF sensor, or a vacuum leak, however these are much less likely based on the information you provided.

      Do not buy

Tune required. Tripped multiple check engine lights. Filter broke 1 day after install. Missing bolt. No instructions. Cheap product all the way around. Don’t buy.

      cold air intake

Had some trouble with this as the filter itself was defective and had to reorder the whole thing in order to get a new filter. Company made it right in short time and I appreciate that. Now I have it all installed and now my check engine light is on and can;t figure out why. when I ordered the part it specified that there was no tuning involved, but at this point I am not so sure!

      Very Nice!

Easy to install and looks very nice in the hood. Adds a couple of horsepower which is nice and when you push on the gas it makes a noticeable and really cool sound of the air going through. No problems

      Great but have one issue

The performance gains are there and it's quite noticable from a stop, but after 100 miles of having this on my engine light came on. The code came back as "Running Lean in Bank 1." You will actually need a tune or an upgraded MAF sensor so that light doesn't come on

      Worth it

Good intake, only issue I really had was how it lacked any type of instruction because of this it took me a very long time than it should have and I needed to find more nuts, other than that it's a good intake and looks great

      Broken out of box.

The tube I received in the box was warped at the mouth end of the intake, as if somebody took a mallet and made it flat on one side. American Muscle offered to replace it if I can send it back to them, but I live far from the UPS building and I have conflicting hours at work so I can't get there to ship it back so I'm just stuck with a broken intake out of the box. It fits fine, took a bit of effort because I also put on a throttle body spacer, but the car definitely pulls a lot nicer. To be fair I installed a tune, and as previously mentioned, the throttle body spacer all at the same time.

      Wonderful bang for your buck

I have no previous car experience but i wanted to upgrade my 2007 V6 mustang. I ordered the part and it got to my house in 2 days! When I opened the box there was no instructions but i just asked the support team from AM and they sent me a video. The installation was easy using only basic hand tools! It looks really cool under the hood, And sounds good while driving. You can really feel the hp increase when you start it up. I took the car for a 30 minute drive after I installed it and I did not get a check engine light which is great! Because turners are expensive. It is a great product and I will recommend it to everyone who is just starting out upgrading their mustang!!

      Easy to install

This CAI works good, it just pulls the sensor a little tight on the wire harness. I managed to get it connected and havent had any problems but the sensor cable is very tight. Noticeable power and has a cool whistle sound, but I also installed a throttle body spacer at the same time. Had for about a week and half until I added a dual exhaust and a tuner. But people saying they don't notice acceleration or power are crazy. The engine also runs quieter and better fuel economy until you add a dual exhaust. I would definitely recommend.

More of a novelty, but not complaining

I think a pro-con list would be easier, so here you go! Pros: -Looks cool -Sounds cool -Very small performance gains Cons: -You get what you pay for, lots of troubleshooting and fudging around parts to make things fit. Probably will need some additional nuts and bolts to work things out. -While I did feel a small performance difference, you won't feel much, if anything, without a tune Overall, you get what you pay for, expect some additional work, but for the price, I'm content with my purchase.
