Improves Horsepower. This SR Performance Cold Air Intake kit completely replaces the factory air box and restrictive paper filter element in your V6 Mustang with a high flow filter assembly for a noticeable increase in horsepower and throttle response while filtering out destructive power robbing dust particles. This CAI pulls cooler denser air from inside the inner fender well to make more power that you can feel.

Reusable Filter. Included in this kit is a High Flow reusable air filter. So no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Polished Finish. An SR Performance Cold Air Intake not only improves horsepower and acceleration, but it also improves your Mustang's under hood appearance with a striking polished aluminum finish. Now you can have the best of both worlds, performance and style.

Simple Install. SR Performance Cold Air Intake kits are relatively easy to install with basic hand tools. No extra modifications are required for the installation. See the video below for an overview of the installation process.

Application. This SR Performance Cold Air Intake is designed specifically to be used on a 2005-2009 V6 Mustang.

Technical Note. The Mass Airflow Housing and Sensor are not included. This kit is designed to reuse the factory unit.

How much horse power do you gain with this CAI? How much horse power and will this make my new flowmaster american thunder muffler sound better?

        • I can't say exactly but you'll probabely pick-up about 10+ HP. I also think it'll sound better because it can bring in better air. (If it can breathe better it'll sound better.)

Could I fit a K&N cone filter on it? I don't see a brand or anything to tell me much about this cold air intake. The price is insanely cheap compared to other cold air intakes so I am slightly skeptical. Could I place a K&N cone on it because I really like the K&N brand.

        • This is the American Muscle brand CAI. The filter is just as good as the K&N Cold Air Kits. If you want the K&N filter, just get the K&N kit, the price of the filter, you would have to purchase separately, would make the cost savings of this kit not worth it. In any event, I would recommend getting an SCT tuner from BAMA Performance to make the most out of this or any future mod. I hope this answers your question and thanks for choosing American Muscle!

I purchased this CAI installed. Motor immediately runs rough but smoothed out after about a minute. CEL came on. Codes say running lean bank 1 2 misfire. Purchased a Diablo I3 tuner to help with this problem. Tuner only has K N CAI listed for available tune. Tried that but now motor running really bad CEL still coming on with same codes. Checked all hose connections multiple times with no improvement. Did I purchase the wrong tuner? Did I purchase the wrong CAI? Installed factory filter box now runs fine. Anyone have a solution to my problem?

what is the process to clean and reoil the filter I cna't find instructions anywhere

        • We advise to gently shake off and brush away excess dirt than to spray a cleaning solution so that the filter is fully soaked and let soak for 10 minutes. Then wash the filter from the clean side to the dirty side until you see the water is clear and we advise using water from a tap or a hose.

After I installed this intake, my check engine light came on. I had my car for a year now and it has not had any problems, until I installed the air intake, what was the reason for the check engine light to come on?

Although it looks an seems easy to install, I have yet to find anywhere in the customer installation instructions or any of the customer pics, where the support bracket goes. ONLY REVIEW NEEDED

THIS NEEDS A TUNE. This was a birthday gift from my dad. Where do I start? Missing a screw for MAF sensor, no instructions, and to get MAF to fit had to cut tape (will not reach). Had to buy a screw at hardware store. Had to look up on line to figure out how to put it on. You have more hardware than needed for my car. Called customer service they know about needing a tune, but AM will not change description. Spent the day putting this on due to no instruction, having to go to hardware store, getting MAF to fit, test driving to find out ot needs a tune (rough idle, engine light) calling customer service to find out it needs a tune (they can't help) and then having to put factory box back on. Thanks AM all I wanted was a CAI that didn't break the bank. Now if I get one it will need a tuner.

            Disappointed

Bought only because it is advertised as not needing a Tune. Item is well made. Was easy to install. Battery was disconnected during install. After completion I followed Ford Motor Co directions for operating a vehicle after Battery disconnection to initiate ECM reset. Within 6 miles of operation of vehicle CEL came on. Codes were pulled following day. Bank 2 running lean. I repeated the same BATTERY disconnect an ECM relearn process six times over the next 4 weeks. Each time had same result. Bank 2 running lean. Now the 05 S197 is capable of making modifications in its Air Fuel formula to a point. Once that point is reached, 25 , then the CEL is activated. At this point damage can occur to the engine and it's components. I have removed the CAI and reset ECM. As of this writing, 2 months later, my Stang has not had a CEL activated. By default this probes that the CAI will not function without an Aftermarket tune cost 399.00. I have read dozens of similar complaints on these reviews. Is this how we do good business? Perhaps someday I can afford a Tune. But I will weigh my options with Lund and other companies offering them.

            Would not reccomend

Almost immediately the check engine came on. The car would idle and die out quite frequently and would take up to 4 or 5 times before it finally started. There was a lot of restriction when i stepped on the gas and often times it wouldn't even pick up, I would step on the gas and the car would not accelerate any faster. There were also no instructions included which was not a huge deal, but would have helped for sure. It says that it doesn't need a tune but as most people are finding out, it definitely does. I recommend spending the extra money and getting a nicer intake, although this is budget friendly, it does not perform well. I did have it installed by professional mechanics and double checked to make sure it was installed correctly.

Great deal for a great car/motor

This is a great product for the V6. BUT what would help is putting instructions with the parts. This is my second install and there are parts I do not know for sure where they go. I have worked a factory building big trucks, so I do know something about assembling vehicles/accessories. Would purchase another if need be.

            Budget intake

Not bad for a budget part. Easy install. My MAF wire is pretty tight. Looks sharp but the air filter is quite small and feels restrictive when you really step on it. I tried finding a new filter but the pipe is smaller than 3”. Would look a lot better under the hood if the filter were larger

            SR performance CAI

The overall quality of the product is great, the performance gain of the intake along with my bama rev-x tuner is noticeable. The install is a little tricky due to the fact that the video doesn't cover where to mount the bottom bracket at, but other than that it was pretty easy.

6 Months After Install Review/ DO NOT BUY

At first I thought it was great, no problems to show for around a month. After that check engine lights throwing lean codes, misfires, and to change the mass air flow sensor. Car would idle wildly at stops almost pushing the car forward with my foot on the break at times while sitting at red lights. As a result I drove it much less. 3-5 months would stall out while driving at low speeds and lose all power until next startup. Took off and ran full diagnostic on car at shop. Poorly designed cold air intake, with factory air box back in nice light at all and back driving great.
