Are the power gains noticeable with these mufflers over stock? I was curious how many people noticed a power increase with these mufflers over stock. None of the reviews mentioned anything about a power gain, they just talk about the sound, which is nice to know, but I'm also a fan of more power.

  • Changing axle-back mufflers does 0 for power. Changing mufflers only changes sound. Only when catalytic converters are removed will a POWER INCREASE be realized. FORD left nothing on the table concerning flow with Factory mufflers.

Not obnoxiously loud, but great growl!

This exhaust is definitely for you if you want a V8 growl without making your car sound like a ricer. Not too loud when idling, but roars when you give it gas! Even though I had this installed on my 2010 V6, the tips look great with the GT500/Boss 302 rear diffuser that I also had installed at the same time. This exhaust definitely makes your car stand out.

    Perfect Sound Again

I had these mufflers on my 2007 GT, and they were the best of all that I tried. When I traded my 07 in for a 2010 GT, the quiet stock mufflers had to go. So, I knew what I needed to do and ordered these mufflers. Just as they were on the 07, these mufflers are significantly louder than stock with a very nice growl, but they aren't overly loud or annoying. They can be kept quiet if need be. The best part is that there is no drone with these. Install was done in 15 minutes total with the car on the ground.

    FR500S 2010 GT

These axlebacks seem pricey but worth it. An excellent set produced by Ford Racing. When you punch the pedal they roar. Almost no drone . In fact you might not even notice it at all.Well made product . A plus for any 2010 GT or GT 500. Nice note at idle as well and cruising.

Even my neighbour's like it !

The oem muffler's on my 2010 GT were good, but are inaudible with the windows up. [hence the sound tube on all 2010-2012]. I wanted something with a little deeper, throatier sound to it, and just a BIT louder. These FR-500's are just the ticket, albeit a bit pricey. However, both the muffler and the tip is stainless steel, and the quality is superb. They will get louder > 2500 rpm. They will NOT drive you nuts on 3 hr long drives. Cruising at 70 mph @ 2100 rpm [OD], they are perfect, even with window's down...or a convertible. [Mine is a coupe]. Stand behind the car, and the sound is incredible at idle..even my neighbour's liked it. Now when you stomp on it, it will get louder, fast. I have since added a Roush M-90 blower, and it's no louder with the blower. [ bypass valve open or shut]. On any of these blower installs [roush/ford-whipple, K-bell, E-Force,saleen, etc], the sound tube always gets removed. You will not miss the sound tube. It did have drone though..right at 1500 rpm. The range of the drone was +/- 25 rpm. The drone started to drop off aprx 3 x days after the install. The range of the drone narrowed down to +/- 10 rpm after 1 week. After 3 weeks, it's completely gone. At 50 mph on the highway, I'm at 1500 rpm [OD], and tried varying the rpm up/down, and verified the drone is 100% gone. I have been to a lot of car shows lately, and folks just love it. Heck, the girls at the local coffee shop drive through love it too. It's a quality item, very well made. It comes with 3.5" stainless tips, cut straight up and down, not at an angle. The rest of my exhaust system is stock, including the H pipe. The sound is old school, but better. Coasting down a hill in 2nd gear, it gurgles all the way down, I love that sound. You will not be disappointed. This is the muffler that Ford should have installed from day 1. My requirement's included slipping in after midnight... and also leaving at 7 AM.....without being read the riot act from the wife or neighbours. These are a winner.

    Easy install and great sound

This is definitely a great product. I felt better throttle response on mine right away. Installation is easier if you unbolt the hangers and loosen the clamp then remove the mufflers and install these. I'm definitely happy with my purchase and eagerly waiting for my CAI and tuner today so my stang can sound like a beast. I totally recommend this product!

    Ford Racing FR500S Axle-Back Exhaust (10 GT, GT500)

Not that loud even installed on a Convertible. That being said watch out for installing on a convertible since there is an extra large brace that necessitates the use of a flexible, ratcheting, 13mm wrench to undo one of the 3 bolts on the forward driver-side exhaust hanger bracket. Everything fit like a glove, the 3.5in tips do a great job of filling up the exhaust cut-outs in the bumper. Overall not a night and day difference in sound. Nice choice for someone looking for a mild sound difference. Annoyed the AM website said order now for delivery by 7/18...didn't actually receive until 7/21. Took AM almost two days to provide a tracking number.

    GT 500 Mufflers

I have owned and modified performance cars for over 35 years, and without a doubt, this is the best sounding exhaust I have ever installed. Unlike other mufflers that tend to have a signature sound to them no matter what type of car they are on, these let the true engine sound come through. They are just loud enough, and no drone at all, with a very pronounced increase in power. I highly recommend these mufflers!

    Best value for the money!

Most other axle back exhausts barely changed the sound of the car. With the FR 500S... It sounds likea complete system, without the price, or install time. I am not a mechanic by any means... I just backed my mustang up onto some ramps, took off the old exhaust & slapped on the new ones... It only took right around an hour to do & changed the sound of the car to give it a more classic, throaty muscle car sound that it deserves! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone that wants to make their mustang sound more aggressive!
