Even my neighbour's like it !
The oem muffler's on my 2010 GT were good, but are inaudible with the windows up. [hence the sound tube on all 2010-2012]. I wanted something with a little deeper, throatier sound to it, and just a BIT louder. These FR-500's are just the ticket, albeit a bit pricey. However, both the muffler and the tip is stainless steel, and the quality is superb. They will get louder > 2500 rpm. They will NOT drive you nuts on 3 hr long drives. Cruising at 70 mph @ 2100 rpm [OD], they are perfect, even with window's down...or a convertible. [Mine is a coupe].
Stand behind the car, and the sound is incredible at idle..even my neighbour's liked it. Now when you stomp on it, it will get louder, fast. I have since added a Roush M-90 blower, and it's no louder with the blower. [ bypass valve open or shut]. On any of these blower installs [roush/ford-whipple, K-bell, E-Force,saleen, etc], the sound tube always gets removed. You will not miss the sound tube.
It did have drone though..right at 1500 rpm. The range of the drone was +/- 25 rpm. The drone started to drop off aprx 3 x days after the install. The range of the drone narrowed down to +/- 10 rpm after 1 week. After 3 weeks, it's completely gone. At 50 mph on the highway, I'm at 1500 rpm [OD], and tried varying the rpm up/down, and verified the drone is 100% gone.
I have been to a lot of car shows lately, and folks just love it. Heck, the girls at the local coffee shop drive through love it too. It's a quality item, very well made. It comes with 3.5" stainless tips, cut straight up and down, not at an angle. The rest of my exhaust system is stock, including the H pipe. The sound is old school, but better. Coasting down a hill in 2nd gear, it gurgles all the way down, I love that sound.
You will not be disappointed. This is the muffler that Ford should have installed from day 1. My requirement's included slipping in after midnight... and also leaving at 7 AM.....without being read the riot act from the wife or neighbours. These are a winner.
