    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, here with my detailed review of the MBRP Race Catback Exhaust System with Y-Pipe, fitting your 2015 and up Fastback EcoBoost. Now, the Race Catback from MBRP is one of the most popular options for your EcoBoost here on the site and for a few different reasons. For starters, it's currently one of the most affordable options for your ride; it's going to offer full three-inch diameter piping from tip to tip; and finally it sounds really good despite not costing you an arm and a leg. Now, one thing I personally really enjoy about MBRP is the amount of options they give you in choosing the right system for your ride. For instance, we're looking at the full stainless steel version of the Race Catback here. It's going to cost you a little bit more but not by much. It's going to offer a full lifetime warranty from MBRP, largely in part to the full 409 grade stainless steel construction throughout that's going to do a good job of reducing any surface corrosion. In addition to that, MBRP does throw two aluminized steel versions of this exhaust at you. One's going to come with black mufflers, black tips, and black piping, and the other's going to be left in that raw aluminized steel silver color. Now, both of those options only carry a three-year warranty, but they're going to be the most affordable. Now, I did want to spend a little bit of time on tone, because obviously, this is an exhaust after all, and that's a big deciding factor. But a big question I get a lot is: How do I make my four-cylinder EcoBoost Mustang sound good? And honestly, guys, a lot of that is going to depend on what your definition of good is, but what I can tell you is that the MBRP Race is going to deliver a very enjoyable tone, deep, low tone here with practically zero rasp, minimal drone on the highway, definitely not a deal breaker, but you can hear it slightly, and overall, a very, very solid three out of five on my one to five or one to wake the neighbors scale. Again, you can hear this thing, but it's not going to be totally crazy loud. However, add in your favorite off-road or catless downpipe, and that number would go up considerably. As for the construction, guys, well, again, I did touch on this earlier, but you do have the full stainless option available to your here. That's the one I have on the table with me, 409 grade stainless. It's going to offer a little better durability over time. It's going to cost you a little bit more, but you do get that full lifetime warranty with the system. Those two aluminized steel versions, again, great systems. They're going to be a little bit more affordable, but they're only going to carry that three-year warranty, maybe not be as durable when it comes to reducing surface corrosion, but overall, still a great system. You are getting three-inch mandrel-bent tubing from tip to tip with this system, solid welds despite the price, and you are getting the race mufflers, along with the very large four-and-a-half-inch slash-cut tips, etched with the MBRP logo. You are going to be looking at a simple one out of three wrench difficulty here, guys, when it comes to the install. No cutting or permanent modification needed whatsoever. This is a direct bolt-on part that should make the install a little bit more easy on you. Now, as for tools, well, simple socket set here. You're going to need a large Allen key to tighten up these tips here, but overall, figure about an hour or two in the garage or driveway before you're making some noise. All right, guys, to wrap up the MBRP Race Catback, I do really enjoy this system for the simple fact that it sounds good; you have some options when it comes to the materials; and it's not going to cost you and arm and a leg to put it on your car. So be sure to check out more from MBRP for your EcoBoost Mustang here at AmericanMuscle.com.

            Used exhaust

I just bought this exhaust when it went on sale for $499.99 and the exhaust showed up clearly used. There was carbon buildup in it and rust around the welds. I think this is the last purchase I make at American muscle. I could have bought the same exhaust for the same price from the manufacturers website. I can’t say anything for the sound because I won’t be putting it on until I get a replacement.

            Sounds great!

Super easy to install, highly recommend some lube and exhaust hanger removal tool. I listed afternoon as install time but could easily be done in 2 hours or less depending on the speed you want to work at it. Sound is fantastic, cruising is quite and not really noticed, bear in mind I have not yet changed my down-pipe yet. Gets louder as you up the throttle. Only drawback I found is at factory height the bigger diameter pipes and the flat plate in the middle will scrape gravels on back roads...but at the same time so does several of your plastic under carriage pieces from the factory.

            Great exhaust

This exhaust is a big upgrade over the way too quiet stock system.Really good fitment, took me about 2 hours start to finish to install in my garage.I installed by myself. The stock exhaust is a bit heavy so I can see why it would be recommended to have 2 people, but is doable with 1 person.Well worth the price,as this exhaust really makes my 2019 Ecoboost have a good deep exhaust note.

            Great product

I was really excited to try this out since I have heard so many great things! First thing I want to note is cold starts are AMAZING! Over all looking for a tune to get it alittle deeper in the upper RPMs. Performance wise, it’s incredible really, especially paired with Roush cold air intake. I love to do burn outs and before installing MBRPs race exhaust I could only do a burn out till 2nd-3rd gear (I own an automatic and can’t stop it from shifting) now I can max my car out in 5th with the tires spinning at 120mph. Before it was like 70-80mph. I love the power and toque that is revived.

            Loud!

I will tell everyone why they don’t show a video of install or dyno with the MBRP down pipe mated to the MBRP racing exhaust. LOUD!!! Hooligan wake your neighbors up gunshot loud! Personally, I absolutely love them together. The symphony makes me feel like a teenager again. Like every time I start it I know I’m doing something wrong. However, there is a huge difference in noise when running in normal mode versus sport. Normal allows you to drive at about half the decibels. And a perfect fitting exhaust system that took minimal install effort with another set of hands.

Great sound in low and high rpm. Doesn’t leave you with a headache from drone. It does backfire depending on if you know how to or not. All in all it’s a great peace I saw immediate hp and torque gains

            Big Time Rumble!

Youtube videos do not capture the true rawness of this exhaust. If you want a loud exhaust that you can feel, this is it. If you have neighbors, you might want to park a little further away if you decide to cold-start in 35 degree weather at 6 am because this thing produces that 'deep-loud' tone that you can feel in your organs. It really growls as you rev. Subtle pops and cracks which is always a plus. Not sure if I've developed the drone-phobia to talk about this, but if it's suppose to be the vibration and exhaust sound being felt/heard in the cabin while cruising around past 2k RPM, I'd say minimal "drone"? Did I get it right or should I keep looking? Because so far I'm actually enjoying it.

            MBRP Exhaust 2017 Mustang EcoBoost

I watched 50 or 60 videos and read countless reviews until I finally purchased this MBRP race Catback exhaust. No complaints at all! Installation was easy AF, took 1 hour on a lift. I was weary of the sound being that this is a turbo 4cyl car. This exhaust sounds awesome! Really like that it's a deep sound with no crack or popping noise at any rpm. It's not obnoxious in anyway, yet its definitely loud. Interior noise is noticeable the way you want it to be, yet the cruising sound is low and doesn't effect normal talking or talking kn the car phone. I teamed that up with a cold air intake from KandN and it really work this car up. Would buy again, would refer to another ecoboost mustang owner.

You get what you pay for.

Gives it a nice deep tone that roars under bridges. Definitely a change in sound that will make your friends wonder whether you actually tuned your car. Adjusting the piping at the end was a little time consuming but it is possible using stilts and platforms.
