Does the SR kit drone on the highway with the stock H pipe for the GT? I like to change my stock mufflers but also want to have a conversation in my car with a passager at 70 MPH. Thanks!

dre256

  • This exhaust will not cause droning when at highway speeds.

will this exhaust fit a 95 mustang gt?

PatrickV

  • No, due to the 95 gt mustangs utilizing the different 5.0 302 pushrod engine, they had different exhaust manifolds and this would not be a good fit onto that car.

i have a 2004 v6 with stock exhaust. im looking to covert to a true dual and replace the stock y midpipe with an h pipe along with long tube headers. if i do this, will a gt catback exhaust now fit my v6?

AnthonyM

  • Yes, when going with a true dual exhaust it is possible to use the GT catback with the long tube headers on the V6, however we would not be able to guarantee fitment for that.

    poor quality construction.

the kit is OK. I personally didn't use the mufflers and instead I used flow masters I had laying around. the biggest problem are the tips. horrible to install the support rods on them and they don't even fit the 2.5 pipes they came with. tips are oversized and even when tightened all the way they still are loose and not tight on the tail pipe. I ended up getting different tips and welded them on.

    Kickarse sound

I don't know why other people are complaining. It was super easy to install. I'm not a master mechanic and it too me 3 total hours. I took a grinder and cut out the old exhaust and installed the new one. It sounds amazing. It rumbles at low rpm, gave a very good mid range sound and the upper rpm range makes it sound like a race car. No back firing or crackling popping just makes it sound like a healthy v8 rumble. I got a lot of compliments from guys at my mustang club.

Terrible sounding exhaust tone. the mufflers are super cheap. think again before buying this because its made very cheaply and hard to fit the car. comes with no instructions, and very unorganized setup

Absolutely the best exhaust for the money! I'm running headmen long tubes, pace setter x with no cats, and this SR kit with chambered muffs really brings it all togeather! It's not obnoxiously loud, it is noticeable! Sounds great with a trick flow stage one cams! Mufflers look as if they are made out of stainless steel, and the rest of the kit is aluminized steel. Took about 45min to install and tuck everything up where I wanted it, now I just need to weld everything togeather and take off the clamps.

    SR Cat-back

I was very satisfied with the quick delivery. I was installing it myself but the hangers did not like up properly. I then realized to get it on I needed to cut and weld so I took it to a muffler shop and they did it all for me for $150. I like the way it sounds. Not to loud and not too low. I can hear it when I punch it and when it's idling. I paired it up with the SR cold air intake and I can feel the difference.

    Get What You Pay For?

I'm not sure what everyone else that installed their own exhaust had as far as tools go, but I had no trouble at all using a set of ramps, 2 floor jacks, and some basic tools and blocks. I think the the key is to lower the rear axle while supporting the lifted car using blocks. This separation between the car and axle allows for the complex bends in the tail pipes to snake through before bolting them in place using the clamps provided with the kit. That was the hardest part? With the way this kit comes together paired with the feeling of accomplishment, thats why I think it's a great price!

    Great price

Bought this exhaust for my 2002 mustang gt and was very happy with how fast it showed up. The exhaust looks to be very good quality for the price. It bolted up with no problems and sounds a little louder than stock at idle. When you step on the gas it sounds nice but not obnoxious. Can't wait to pair this exhaust with and x pipe.

    99 gt full exhaust

I replaced my rusted out Swiss cheese flowmaster catbacks with these stainless sr performance from American muscle. I couldn't be happier the sound is perfect to go along with my bbk long tubes and x pipe I don't think there is a better catback out there for the money.Perfect growl nice and deep when I step on the pedal just enough to know this isn't a stock system. Nice tips also looks great on my gt. Thanks A M

    Nice and quite

This cat back system was extremely difficult to install and I used my 4 post lift to work on the exhaust system so the car was well off the ground. I don't think it could be done with out a lift. The hangers that came welded on the tail pipes were very troublesome and had to be cut off. and re welded so as to work properly. I spent 6 hours trying to get this thing lined up and installed, I finally had take to it to a muffler shop to finish the install. I am a do it your selfer but i am no shade tree mechanic either, If you buy this system take it straight to the muffler shop and let them do the hard part and it will come out better in the end. I would not recommend this system to a friend. Trying to install this set up is not for the faint of heart. Once at the muffler shop things came together and i wound up spending twice as much money as I originally intended but its in now. Lesson learned.

The install was a pita w/o a lift and the sound wasn't great paired with an off-road h pipe, I ended up going with a pypes catback with straight through mufflers.

It went together well. It was slightly difficult to line everything up but all came together in the end. It isn't much louder than stock but sound great none the less.

    Not bad at all

I have an 02 GT that sat for a while. The cats and mufflers were absolutely rotted so I replaced the stock H pipe with a Pypes off road catless H pipe and replaced the mufflers with this SR system. Needless to say I am impressed. I have never heard another mustang like mine! Great bang for the buck. The installation is a little fiddley and you will need some patience but other than that it gets a one and a half thumbs up!

    Great value

Exhaust shipped quickly, was packed really well and arrived safe and sound. The fit was a bit tight on my '00 GT, but we eventually got it all in. Tips stick out a little further than I like with everything snugged up tight but the tips are nice and big and well finished. Sound is very mellow and I'm sure the others on my block appreciate it.

    Very good quality

Full length BBK headers w/ BBK high flow cat H-pipe. Very good quality, loved the look of the pipes and wasn't very difficult to install (remove rear hanger brackets from underbody.) I wasn't very impressed with sound.. It does have decent exhaust tones and doesn't at all drone on the freeway but not loud as I was hoping for.. On a good note I don't feel like I am waking the neighborhood before work every morning. I would say just slightly louder then stock. I am hoping that in time they will get louder but may just switch to something louder in the future.

    Good Stang Deal

Just bought the SR catbacks and Pypes offroad H pipe like a week ago and really like the exhaust note, just right for me! I'm trying to do stuff on a budget and if SR items are as good as the exhaust then I'll be buying more! Thanks AM, good deal!!

    Great Product for the price

Good fitment. Good quality product. No complaints or issues with this exhaust. Only thing for me personally is I'm not a huge fan of the sound. If you want a classic muscle car v8 sound then this exhaust is PERFECT for you. If you want a modern raw sound then I wouldn't suggest SR Performance exhaust, BUT the mufflers are easily interchangeable so no big deal there.
