    Description

    Understanding Your Charger’s EGR Valve. Your Charger’s EGR Valve is an integral component of the emissions system, reducing the level of harmful nitrogen oxides that enter the atmosphere during combustion. Nitrogen oxides are produced during a normal combustion cycle when internal combustion temperature reaches 1370º C, converting inert nitrogen gas into a harmful chemical compound. The EGR Valve pumps exhaust gasses back into the intake during certain driving conditions to reduce internal combustion temperatures, thus limiting the conversion of nitrogen into nitrogen oxides and allowing for cleaner exhaust emissions.

    Replacing A Damaged EGR Valve. Like other electronic components in the engine bay, EGR valves are subject to constant abuse from hot exhaust gasses and carbon contamination, often leading to a stuck or malfunctioning EGR Valve. When this valve fails, it will often trigger a check engine light, decrease fuel efficiency, reduce power, increase nitrogen oxide emissions, and cause pre-detonation, or “spark knock.” To address these symptoms, repair a damaged EGR valve with this premium aftermarket replacement.
