Jake: Jake here for AmericanMuscle. And today I'm taking a look at the V5R Rear Wing in matte black, fitting 2011 and newer Chargers. If you're looking for something with a little more aggression than what your Charger came with from the factory, or if you're looking to add a spoiler to a car that didn't have one to start with, then this is certainly going to be an eye catcher. With solid construction and some track inspired style, this is sure to catch the eyes of passersby, and bring a cool visual update to the rear end of your Charger. As we all know, adding a spoiler is a great way to update the look of your car. And while styling is of course subjective, I don't think there's any denying the aggressive look that this one brings. It almost has a bit of that Nascar or even touring car sound with the way it kicks up right at the back here, and players outward toward the edges. It's reminiscent of the Hellcat as well, just turned up a little bit. Now, the matte black finish here is also a good match for any color car, especially if you're going for that blacked out type of style with your build.Construction here is polypropylene, meaning that it's going to be lightweight, strong, and durable. You can mount this out of the box just as it is, as you see it leaving that matte black finish as well. Now, the material here is going to be able to withstand the elements, meaning it's going to keep its color and look good for a long time to come. Now, of course, you also always have the option to color match this to your Charger too, should you be so inclined. But again, you can just mount it right as it comes out of the box. Pricing for this one is going to run you about $450, placing it in about the middle of the category. Certainly not the cheapest option, but you are getting some solid materials here. And like we mentioned a moment ago, it can be mounted right out of the box without a need for paint, unlike some of the other options out there.Installation is going to get a one out of three on the difficulty meter. And it should only take you about an hour to complete. Now, this is designed to be a bolt-on install. And it's going to utilize your factory spoilers mounting points, as you can see right here. You also get all new hardware and some double-sided tape in the kit too. Now, if your charger did not come with a spoiler from the factory, you are going to have to do some drilling to get this to fit, which of course, is going to make for a longer, more difficult installation. But to show you a bit more what that process looks like, let's head over to the install bay.Man: The tools you'll need for this project are, a ratchet, a 10-millimeter socket, a short extension, a T20 Torx bit, a Phillips head screwdriver, and a soft trim removal tool. Hi, everyone. Today we're installing a rear spoiler on our Charger. So let's get started with the uninstall first. So the first thing we're going to want to do is remove the two-end caps, using a soft trim removal tool. Now, they're just held in by four plastic clips, so we just need to slip our tool underneath it and just pry it up. All right, as you can see, there are basically three clips here and one pin. So you just may have to work your tool around a little bit to get these things to separate and pull out. And you can repeat that process for the other cap. All right, now we can remove the handle from inside the trunk lid, using a T20 Torx bit and our soft removal tool for our push pins.So we've got two screws on this handle, one on each side. So we'll just remove that with our T20 Torx bit. Now we can remove our cover from the trunk lid. Now we can use our 10-millimeter socket to remove the four bolts holding on the center section of the spoiler. We have one here, one here, one here, and then one on the other end. And now you can go ahead and lift that center section up. Before we get to the actual install of our spoiler, one thing we want to point out is that, if you have a three-piece spoiler such as what we have on our car from the factory, you want to make arrangements to get these holes filled in first because this spoiler does not fill in those holes. Other than that, it bolts right up. So let's get started with the install. Now, to prepare our spoiler for install, we've got some double-sided tape that's included in the kit, as well as some adhesion promoter. To prepare that to be installed, we're going to use an alcohol pad. Now, you can use regular rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth to do this. You're going to want to wipe down the area where we're going to be applying the adhesion promoter and the double-sided tape, to make sure that we've got a clean surface to stick to. Now, because we're not making a permanent change to our vehicle, I'm not actually going to put on the adhesion promoter. But to give you an idea, you're just going to run it along the outside edge of this molding right here, and then apply the tape in that same area. Once you've got the tape applied, you can go ahead and pull off the red backing, and then we can go ahead and apply it to the car. Now, you notice on the bottom of our spoiler, there are nine different holes on here. Depending on how your original spoiler was attached, will determine how many of these you actually use. Ours is only going to require four, and they are using the supplied screws that came in the kit. So let's go ahead and get this attached. Now, once you've got all the screws in place, you can go ahead and tighten them all down with the Phillips head screwdriver. Now that we've got our spoiler installed, we can go ahead and reattach our trunk lid trim piece. Now we can go ahead and reinstall the handle, again, using the original hardware. And we'll secure that with our T20 Torx bit.Jake: That's going to wrap it up here for our review and install the V5R Rear Wing in matte black, fitting 2011 and newer Chargers. Thank you for watching. And remember, for all things Charger, be sure to keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.
