Jake: Jake here for AmericanMuscle, and today I'm taking a look at the CNL Super Sport Cross Drilled and Slotted Rear Brake Rotors fitting 2009 and newer Chargers. Brakes are some of the most important components on your vehicle and if you're looking for a way to upgrade your Charger's braking performance without spending a fortune, these drilled and slotted rotors are worth some serious consideration. They'll give you much better braking performance all for a price that won't break your budget. Traditionally, manufacturers will equip their cars with solid discs from the factory, such is the case on most Charger models. And while those work fine for most applications, there is definitely room for improvement. One of the best ways to do that is by upgrading to a set of drilled and slotted rotors like these ones because these are going to be extremely helpful in dissipating heat. Heat is the enemy of braking performance, and that's where these channels and holes in the faces of the rotors come in. So, as you apply the brakes, friction, and heat build-up on the pads and the faces of the rotors, and these channels here funnel them away from the pads. Now the holes are also going to allow for another escape route where heat can dissipate and come through these central veins in the middle of the rotors. So, all those hot gases have plenty of places through which to escape. Less heat here means less chance of fading and better overall braking response. Doing everything you can to avoid it is absolutely worth it.So, that's all to say with these, you're going to get much better heat dissipation, and that means your braking performance is going to be improved over stock. Now it is worth noting that we do have a front set of rotors that are going to match these as well as some pads that are going to match up with these as well. So, these are going to be a great option if you're looking to upgrade your rear brakes, but definitely take a look on our site, see what we've got for the front and for the pads as well because all that together is going to make a huge difference in the way your car stops. The rotors are constructed from CNC-machined premium cast iron. So, these are actually quite similar in construction to your standard OEM brakes. However, they're also finished with a bright zinc electroplating, so that's going to help prevent against rust and corrosion for a long time to come. So, these aren't going to look like a regular set of rotors because they've got this plating on them. So, the first time it rains, you're not going to get all that corrosion around the edges here. These are going to look pretty much like this for quite some time. But the cast iron construction here means that the price stays low.Speaking of which, this set is going to run you about $150, which is very much on the lower end of the price spectrum when it comes to rear brake rotors, especially since these have the drilled and slotted design. These are about the least expensive option for drilled and slotted rear rotors for the Charger as well. Now, of course, like I mentioned earlier, these do pair well with the matching set for front brakes, which we have available on our site. And I would highly recommend picking up a set of those as well. And take a look at the pads that we've got available as well because we do have a set that's going to match these both front and rear and swapping the pads and rotors at the same time is a great way to upgrade your brakes overall. You're going to be in there anyway, so it's something it's definitely worth considering. And that brings us nicely to the install. Installation is going to get a two out of three on our difficulty meter, and these should take you about two hours to do. Now, brakes are a pretty straightforward job, just a bit time-consuming, and depending on how long your old rotors have been on there, you might need to use a little bit of extra elbow grease to get them off. So, just make sure you've got the time allotted. Of course, you're also going to have to remove those calipers to get these installed too, which is why I say it's probably worth considering doing your brake pads while you're at it. Regardless, this is definitely a job that you can accomplish at home. And to show you how to get it all done, let's head over to the install bay.Man: The tools you'll need for this project are a half-inch impact gun, a swivel joint, an 18-millimeter deep socket or an 18-millimeter wrench, a caliper compression tool, some brake cleaner, and a clean cloth. Hi everyone, today we're installing a new set of rear rotors on our Charger, so let's get started with the uninstall first.First thing we're going to want to do after we remove our tire and wheel is to remove our caliper. And to do that, we've got two 18-millimeter bolts on the backside here that we can take out and remove the whole caliper mounting bracket in one unit. So, that's what we're going to do next. All right so, we've got this bolt here at the bottom of our caliper mounting bracket, and we've got another one at the top. So, we're going to remove those with our 18-millimeter socket. Now we can just pull our whole caliper and caliper mounting bracket out at once. And then we can just make sure that you put some sort of hanging device on the caliper to keep the stress off of the brake hose itself. And now we're ready to remove the rotor. Now you just grab your rotor, slide it off of the studs. And we're done. Now before you actually install the new rotor on the vehicle, you're going to want to get some brake cleaner, and just clean this off, and use a clean cloth to wipe it down just to make sure that you remove any kind of manufacturing oils or preservatives, you know, to keep it from rusting during shipping. So, then you're also going to want to make sure you do both sides. All right. Now we can go ahead and install it on our vehicle. Now we can go ahead and slide our rotor over the studs on our axle. Now we can place our caliper over our new rotor. Now depending on the condition of your brake systems, you may have to rent a caliper tool from your local parts store to spread your brake pads apart to fit over the width of the new rotor. Ours is going to go on just fine. Now we can go ahead and reinstall the original hardware to secure the caliper mounting bracket. Insert one of our bolts. And then do the other one. And now we'll tighten those down with our 18-millimeter socket. Now once you've got it installed, make sure that you tighten it down and torque it to factory-recommended specifications, and you can repeat the process for the other side. And that wraps up our review and install of the C&L Super Sport Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors for the rear on the '06 to '23 Charger All-Wheel Drive SE, All-Wheel Drive SXT, Daytona, GT, and RT with dual-piston front calipers. Increased Braking Performance. Greatly improve the braking performance of your 2009-2023 Dodge Charger by installing a pair of C&L Super Sport Cross-Drilled and Slotted Rear Rotors. These C&L Performance brake rotors are far superior to the stock Dodge rotors to greatly enhance the stopping power of your factory installed braking system.
Cross-Drilled and Slotted. C&L Performance Super Sport Rotors feature a cross-drilled and slotted design that helps to reduce brake fade by allowing hot gasses to easily escape through the vented holes. The slotted design will sweep away dust, water and debris to keep the surface of your brake pads cleaner for reliable bite every time you hit the pedal.
Cooling Vane Design. Unlike solid aftermarket brake rotors, these C&L Performance Super Sport Rotors feature a vented vane design with an internal chamber structure. These vented vanes will allow hot gasses to escape easier to further improve the cooling performance of your brakes. Faster heat dissipation in turn will greatly increase your Charger's braking performance.
Superior Construction. C&L Performance manufactures its one-piece Brake Rotors from premium-grade cast iron castings. CNC machined, these Rotors are perfectly mill-balanced to prevent vibration, noise, and uneven wear. C&L Performance then completes their rotors in a bright zinc electroplating treatment to provide good looks and protection against rust.
Direct Fit Replacement Upgrade. C&L Performance designed its Cross-Drilled and Slotted Rotors to be a direct fit replacement upgrade for your Charger's stock rotors. Installation can normally be completed in under 3 hours with just basic hand tools using the existing calipers and hardware.
Application. These C&L Super Sport Cross-Drilled and Slotted Rotors; Rear Pair are designed to fit 2006-2020 Charger AWD SE, AWD SXT, Daytona, GT and R/T with Dual Piston Front Calipers. Does not fit Brembo equipped models.
