Noah: Hey, it's Noah from American Muscle. And what I have here in front of me is the AFE Magnum FORCE Stage-2 Track Series Cold Air Intake with the Pro 5R Oiled Filter in Carbon Fiber for the 2011 and newer 5.7-liter HEMI Charger. Now, this intake is going to be the perfect choice for the Charger owner who's looking for a top of the line performance intake that's really gonna bring some serious style to your engine bay.The main goal with a cold air intake is to remove the restrictions factory intake tubes come with. Now, AFE's cold air intake tube is restriction-free, which will increase throttle response, as well as horsepower and torque. Now, without any restrictions, silencers, or baffles, air is free to move to your engine faster, which results in an overall more enjoyable driving experience. And this guy does come with an air box that looks much nicer than the factory unit here at the end so you can be sure that the air is coming into the intake nice and cold. Now, the blue filter here is pre-oiled as well. So, right out of the box, you're protected from smaller particulates floating around the engine bay. Now, that filter is also reusable, so, when this guy gets dirty, you can just clean and re-oil rather than buy a whole new filter. Then, of course, the party piece of this whole intake, and probably the reason you're looking at it, is the fact that the intake tube is carbon fiber. Carbon fiber looks awesome and really does make just about anything look like a million bucks, not to mention that this thing is light as a feather.Like I said, this intake tube is constructed from carbon fiber. That means this intake is lightweight and sturdy enough to resist cracking or warping because of engine bay heat like some plastics would. Now, carbon fiber will resist heat much more than metal as well, so, this really should keep those IATs down. Now, the filter you get is actually made up of five progressive layers of pre-oiled cotton gauze media, which is sure to catch any of those smaller particles floating around the engine bay, keeping your intake air nice and clean.AFE's carbon cold-air intake comes in right around the $825 mark. This intake is going to fall near the top of that price range because of that carbon construction. Carbon fiber is woven and very expensive to make, so, the price is warranted and, ultimately, one of the best materials to look for when you're shopping for an intake is going to be carbon fiber. All the parts you need to install this intake tube are included with the kit. All the clamps, the fittings, and the boots are all included, and that makes this job nice and simple. It's just a bolt-on job, it doesn't require any fabrication or tuning, and that's gonna put this install at one out of three wrenches of difficulty. This really should be an easy job for just about anybody, so, you can count on only spending about two hours on it. But without further ado, let's head over to the shop and get this installed on our HEMI.Man: The tools you'll need for this project are 3/8 or 1/4-inch drive ratchet, an 8-millimeter, a 10-millimeter, and 11-millimeter deep socket, possibly a flathead screwdriver, and possibly a Phillips-head screwdriver.Hi, everyone. Today we're installing a cold air intake on our Charger. But before we do that, let's watch a short video on how to uninstall the stock system first, and we'll see you back here right after you're done. All right. So, let's get this engine cover off of it first, and that'll give us access to everything else underneath. Now we can disconnect our mass airflow sensor and loosen the clamp on our throttle body clamp using our 8-millimeter socket. All right. So, to disconnect our mass airflow sensor, I'm just gonna press the release clip on the plug and pull it out. Now we can loosen our clamp using our 8-millimeter socket. Now we can disconnect our breather hose from the engine, and take out this bolt here using our 8-millimeter socket that holds our air box in. Now we can disconnect our air inlet tube from the throttle body and lift the whole thing out in one unit. All right. Before we can install our new system, there's a couple of things that we need to do, such as transferring over our breather hose and our air temp sensor to the new tube. We also need to remove this grommet right here because it's gonna go into the heat shield on the new system. So, let's go ahead and get those taken care of.So, the first thing we're gonna do is remove the breather hose here. And we're just gonna twist that off and pull it up. Now, it may be possible that yours is stuck on there. If it is, you can just use a small flathead screwdriver to stick underneath the edge of the hose, and just run it around to free it up. And we'll go ahead and take that off. Now we can remove the air temperature sensor by turning it clockwise until it releases. And then just pull it out. Now, the next thing we need to do is remove this grommet here. To use that, we're gonna use a Phillips-head screwdriver, insert it into the grommet, and just pry it out. Now we can transfer that over to the heat shield. All right. Now, we'll just go ahead and install our grommet into this large hole here at the top of the heat shield, making sure that the flat metal side is facing up. And we're just gonna work the grommet around until it seats in the groove. And you may need to use a small flathead screwdriver to help push it in, but it doesn't take a lot of pressure. And then, once you've got it seated, then we can move back to the inlet tube. Now, as you can see, there are two tabs on the side of the air intake sensor. They need to line up with the slots inside the end of the tube here. And then just push it in until it seats and then turn it clockwise until it locks. Now we can go ahead and install our breather hose. And now we can go ahead and move on to the installation.Next thing we need to do is remove this 10-millimeter bolt right here at the edge of the core support so that we can install our rubber isolator as well. And then we'll go ahead and install the heat shield. All right, now we'll go ahead and take this off with our 10-millimeter socket...and just screw in our rubber isolator. Now, the kit also comes with this black rubber pad that they suggest you put down here at the bottom where the heat shield is gonna rest. We've already got some foam insulation down there from the original system, so, we're not gonna install this. But if you don't have that insulation on your car, you can go ahead and install that right here. I'll go ahead and set our heat shield into place. And using the original bolt from the stock air box, we'll put that back in. We'll use one of the 10-millimeter bolts with a lock washer and a flat washer to secure the heat shield to the isolator that we just installed. We'll tighten this down with our 10-millimeter socket. And then we'll tighten down our original one with the 8-millimeter.All right, now we can install our coupler onto our throttle body using the smaller of the two band clamps. We'll just slide that on, like so, slide the larger one on the other end. Now we'll go ahead and tighten down the smaller of the 2 clamps using an 11-millimeter socket. Now we can insert our intake tube. And we'll just go ahead and slide this into our adapter. And now we can insert the two bolts that hold the inlet tube to the heat shield using a supplied bolt. All right, now we can attach the two bolts that go in here on the end of the tube to the heat shield using the supplied 10-millimeter bolts and flat washers. Now, the kit also comes with some thread locker that you can put a little bit on the ends of each of these bolts before you put them in there. Since we're not making this a permanent change to our car, we're not going to use the thread locker. So, we'll just go ahead and install these bolts. And we'll tighten them down with our 10-millimeter socket. Now we'll go ahead and reconnect our breather hose. Tighten up our other throttle body clamp with our 11-millimeter socket. Reconnect our air inlet's temperature sensor. Now we'll go ahead and slide our large clamp over the end of our air filter, and insert the air filter onto our inlet tube. Now we'll tighten down that clamp using our 8-millimeter socket. And finally, we'll go ahead and reinstall our engine cover. And that wraps up our review and install of the AFE Magnum FORCE Stage 2 Track Series Cold Air Intake with the Pro 5R Oiled Filter in the Carbon Fiber finish for the '11 to '23 5.7-liter HEMI Charger. Thanks for watching. And remember, for all things Charger, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com
