Adam: Hey, guys, Adam here with americanmuscle.com. And today I'm gonna be walking you through the DiabloSport inTune i3 Platinum Tuner available for all '06 to '14 5.7 HEMI-equipped Chargers. Now before we get into the details of the product here itself, I wanna give you two things to keep in mind. Number one, our customer, Landon, is gonna be walking you through the tuning and install process showing you guys that in full depth including updating the software on your tuner as soon as you get it out of the box. We'll get to that a little bit later on in the video.Also keep in mind because Landon, our customer, is gonna be installing this for us, we're not gonna be strapping down a Charger to the dyno today to give you real-world examples of gains. However, we have installed this on a Challenger in the past with the same 5.7 HEMI which, as you know, are nearly identical motors and we came up with about 13 horsepower and 18 foot-pounds of torque peak gains. So, you can clearly see that this running the Diablo 93 octane tune on a bone stock 5.7 HEMI can come up with noticeable and feelable gains. That's something you'll feel a lot on the road and the curve gains can be even more impressive. Obviously once you start throwing in modifications into the mix, you can really customize that a little bit more with the canned tune inside that kit.Jumping right into the details of the tuner here, this is the DiabloSport inTune i3 Platinum Tuner. This is a bit of an upgrade over the original inTune i3 Tuner, not the Platinum version. This Platinum allows you to hold up to five custom tunes if you ever wanted to upgrade in the future. Now if you don't think you're ever gonna wanna upgrade to a custom tune specific to your vehicle and your mods, then then i3 Tuner itself might be a good way to go. If you wanna leave that option open to upgrade to a custom tune in the future, you wanna pick up the Platinum here that allows you to do so. But out of the box, you're equipped with a couple of factory or canned tunes as they're referred to because they're preloaded right out of the box into this tuner. The main one which we're talking about mostly today is that DiabloSport Diablo 93 octane tune. That's gonna really maximize the potential there giving you all that throttle response and acceleration and mainly that more noticeable boost of horsepower and torque I mentioned earlier. So, this tuner right here is essentially gonna modify a couple of those engine parameters right out of the box without needing that custom tune to maximize your vehicle's potential. It's altering things like timing, spark. It's gonna alter things like your drive-by wire delay which is essentially the delay in time between hitting the gas and your vehicle getting going off the line. So, you really feel that acceleration when using that 93 tune.Now there are also other tunes included here. You can get that 91 octane tune if maybe 93 isn't available or easily accessible in your area, and 87 octane of course is an option if you're looking to keep it a little bit more mild and maybe keeping gas mileage in mind while also getting a slight bump as well.Now the nice thing about this tuner is it's not just tuning related. There are some other aspects or features to the tuner that you get whether you get this Platinum one or the regular i3. Included here are gonna be things like your data log monitor. You're gonna be able to monitor a couple of engine parameters on the fly without getting too overwhelming like some of the other more expensive or more in-depth tuners on the market. You're also gonna be able to read and clear DTC or diagnostic trouble codes. Now those DTC codes are things like your check engine light coming on, maybe you have a failing catalytic converter, or maybe your vehicle starts misfiring at some point. Those codes will throw a check engine light and you can easily see what those codes mean by reading that right here on the tuner. No need to pick up an OBD2 reader from, say, Pep Boys or AutoZone, for example. You're able to do that right here.Now another nice thing about this is it does connect to Wi-Fi. So, you're easily able to update the tuner software via Wi-Fi within arm's reach of the driver's seat as long as you're within the distance of your maybe home network or something like that. So, you don't always have to plug this into a computer in order to get those updates available. Keep in mind out of the box, your device may need several updates so I recommend hooking it up right up to a computer or connecting right over to that Wi-Fi off the bat. Now in order to get this guy booted up, you're gonna use the OBD2 cable included in the kit here. And nice enough, and our customer, Landon, will point this out later on, it's pretty long so you don't have to worry about crouching under that driver side dash. You can easily plug this in, have a comfortable seat in your driver seat or your passenger seat, and get to tuning with this. That's gonna plug right into the OBD2 underneath that driver side dashboard.Now the nice thing about this tuner is it's user-friendly. It's touchscreen. It's got about four and a half inches of the device here, so it's really just a small smartphone almost. Almost like some of those old-school iPods. You can easily use the touchscreen there. There's no physical buttons to it so it's all touchscreen. Very user-friendly, super easy-to-read menus to navigate through.Now another thing to keep in mind here, guys, is the price. Now this price tag's gonna come in right around 500 bucks. Now it is relatively on par with some of the other custom tuners like the Rev-X for example or the SCT devices. Now those can be right around the same price tag but the nice thing about this is that it includes those preloaded tunes and gives you the option to add up to five custom tunes on the device. So, if you wanna start off with those preloaded tunes, like I said, you can do so. And then later on, if you wanna link up with maybe a custom tuner of your choice, you can load a couple of other options on there like another custom 93, 91, and 87 octane tune.Now for the install, guys, I'm giving it one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter simply because it is a pretty straightforward process. You wanna plug this in your computer or connect to the Wi-Fi after connecting to a vehicle, update the software which you'll probably wanna do right off the bat. It'll prompt you that in the menu. And then of course updating or tuning your vehicle is as easy as following the on-screen instructions. You don't have to be some tuning mastermind to get this done which Landon will show you later on. He's just a regular customer just like you guys and he's gonna walk you through that to show you how easy it can be.Overall, the process from start to finish takes about 30 minutes, maybe an hour from start to finish depending on how many updates your device needs right out of the box. Some of the newer devices may already be updated to the newest software but some of the other ones may need a couple of software updates of course coming out of the box which can add a little bit of time to the process. But either way, it's just a matter of following instructions.Now like I said, Landon is gonna walk you through every single step of that process starting with updating the device. Then he'll hop into his charger and show you what the process is like. So, from here, I'm gonna hand it over to Landon.Landon: All right. So, getting started, if you look on the tuner here, it says, "Although not always required, we recommend updating this unit prior to installation." So, we're gonna go ahead and start with the update. If you look in the manual here, it says you're updating your i3. You can update it over Wi-Fi once you got it powered on, plugged into a vehicle. You can also update it via Windows. So, I'm gonna plug it into my Windows PC using the cable provided.So, it says when you plug it into Windows PC, it creates a drive in My Computer called i3. Open the drive and click into the update folder. So, as you can see, PC is setting up the device. So, it's asking DiabloSport inTune is designed to increase vehicle performance and fuel economy. Never use the inTune during vehicle operation. Do you agree to these terms? Yes. All right. It creates a drive in My Computer called i3. So, after clicking on that, this i3 drive pulls up. You can also find that if you open File Manager. So, it's near the...oh, right here, i3. We're gonna open the updater folder. All right.So I go over here to the tuner. Here are the settings. We're gonna go ahead and set it up on Wi-Fi. That way we can update it. I went to diablosport.com, their website, and I found the update agent used for Predator Tune, inTune, i1000, i2, and i3. So, I've downloaded the update agent. I'm gonna go ahead and install.Device installation. Install device software. So, we're installing the drivers. All right. So, it has picked up my device. Checking for updates. Okay. I'm gonna go ahead and register my account. All right. So, I've created my account. And it is going ahead and updating the tuner. So, I'm just gonna go back to the main screen while it updates my device. Okay. Says here, "Updates being installed. Please follow the instructions displayed on your device."So, it looks like it's automatically updating my device. Looks like we're installing the files. Down here at the bottom, we've got two of eight. All right. So, it looks like tuner's turning off and on and installing the updates. All right. It's asking us the same thing. Do not use during vehicle operations. All right. We're gonna look at my computer. Your device is now up to date. And go ahead and take this out to the vehicle.All right. So, we're here in my 2013 Dodge Charger RT. If you look under here, this is where our OBD2 port is gonna be. So, we're gonna plug this in. All right. And thankfully, they give us an extra long cord so we don't have to sit under the steering wheel. It's already powered on, so I'm gonna put my vehicle in...turn it on but not cranked in the run position. So, the same thing. DiabloSport inTune, do not use while driving. So, we're gonna go to tune vehicle. Make sure the key's in the run position but do not start the engine. So you got it on. Calibration update in the vehicle. Yes. So, it seems like the best way to do it is to plug the tuner into your vehicle first and then into your computer unless you can get the Wi-Fi updates to work. I could not get the Wi-Fi to connect. And if you look up here on the dash, I am getting the service message. It says, "Service transmission. Continue in drive. Do not shift to neutral, park, or turn engine off until you reach desired location. You may not be able to shift again until serviced. Press clutch pedal and push button to start." So, I'm assuming this is part of...it says PCM writing tune. So, the calibration update writing the tune to the PCM. So, I figured that service code would go away. It's the tuner kind of says writing the tune to the car.Please turn the ignition off. Do not start the engine. Continue. Please turn ignition on. Do not start the engine. Please keep the car in run. Calibration update complete. Please unplug the tool or tap continue to reboot.Looks like the tool is rebooting. All right. So, the tuner has rebooted. Go to the Tune Vehicle. Ensure the key is in the run position. We're gonna go to easy tune. We're gonna use a 93 octane. Diablo Tune is designed to add power and torque but with fuel economy in mind. Fuel mileage can always be subject to driving style and may vary from vehicle to vehicle. Use selected tune? Yes. Change tire size? No. No change in the gear ratio. Remove speed limiter? Yes. So this is gonna read a back...So, this is making a backup of the original tune. That way if you have to, for any reason, you can restore the vehicle back to the factory settings. Please turn ignition off. Do not start the engine. Please turn ignition on. Do not start the engine.Please turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Please turn ignition off. Continue.
