Justin: The JLT Cold Air here is currently one of the most popular options available for the 5.7 Hemi crowd looking to go with a CARB-certified no-tune required intake that will help increase both the power and sound of your ride. Now, JLT does utilize a roto-molded plastic construction for the tube itself along with the included heat shield here, and those top everything off with their massive S&B high-flow reusable oiled filter for right around that $300 price point. Install is gonna get a pretty simple one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter here and take about an hour or so to complete from start to finish, as we'll demonstrate later in the video. So, JLT is without a doubt one of the most popular and trusted names in the aftermarket intake category and for good reason, right? The quality of construction and fitment are always on point. And as someone who has had a few of these things installed on my rides in the past, I can attest that they do perform as advertised. Now, the 5.7 specific kit that we do have here on the table today, again, will utilize that roto-molded plastic intake tube along with your massive reusable oiled filter from S&B. Now if you didn't know, the oiled filter is washable, it is reusable. So, basically, that's gonna save you some money in the long run as opposed to buying and replacing those cheap paper element factory filters every 10,000, 15,000 miles. Now, on top of that, oiled filters typically flow a little bit better compared to a dry filter as well as you're gonna utilize the oil to help capture dirt and dust particles as opposed to going with a denser filter material overall. Now that red oiled filter is gonna be isolated in the engine bay, thanks to the included heat shield here, which is also gonna feature an ABS plastic build. And that's gonna help try to prevent some of that hot engine bay air from entering the intake itself. Now, ultimately, guys, if keeping intake air temperatures to a minimum is your top priority, well, then a sealed enclosure is always going to be the way to roll. However, the exposed filter like the JLT here does have some benefits, for instance, when it comes to sound, you will no doubt hear a pretty substantial increase in sound or growl coming from under the hood under hard acceleration, plus, it's also gonna help deliver a more modified look under the hood. So, at the end of the day, it really just boils down to what's most important to you. Now, as I pointed out earlier, guys, again, the JLT does utilize what is called a roto-molded plastic tube design. Big fan of this because it is a little less prone to heat, so compared to going with a metal tube option. JLT is also gonna kick in all of the couplers, clamps, hoses, all that good stuff, making for a very easy yet a very clean install. And I do wanna remind you, guys, again that the JLT is CARB-certified, so Hemi owners out there in tough states like California can still install this guy and go without the fear of any repercussions. But now let's segue into the installation. And honestly, guys, intakes like the JLT will be one of your easier days in the driveway or garage even for most novice mechanics out there. So, we're gonna stick to a strong one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, maybe 45 minutes to an hour to get everything in place. But to give you a better idea of just how things will go down on your Hemi at home, check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown now.Man: Tools for this install, an electric ratchet or a ratchet, and an 8-millimeter socket. Start by pulling up on your engine cover if you do have it installed to simply remove it so we can get to what we need to remove. Next, unplug your harness from the side of the intake tube and then your hose from the side of the airbox. Now, take your 8-millimeter socket and undo the clamp at the throttle body. And taking that same 8-millimeter, undo the bolt in front of the airbox. With the clamp undone and the bolt removed, you can now remove your cold air intake from your Charger. And because our kit does provide new hosing, go ahead and remove the stock hose. Now, before we can get our new intake in we will need to reuse our MAF sensor, so we're gonna pull that from our stock unit. Simply twist counter-clockwise and pull outwards of the tube. Now, place your MAF into the rubber elbow. Now, taking the rubber grommet provided in the kit, place that into the opening in front of the reservoir. Now, take the heat shield and place this tab on the backside into that grommet and then secure the heat shield with your stock hardware. Again, this is gonna be an 8-millimeter socket. Now, take your rubber elbow and place that over your throttle body along with a kit-provided clamp. Plug in your MAF sensor and tighten down the clamp with the same 8-millimeter socket. Now, take another kit-provided clamp, place that over the other end of the elbow. And take your intake tube and place it into the elbow. Tighten down that clamp as well. Now, take your filter and the last clamp and place that onto your intake tube. Tighten that clamp down as well. And finally, take your new hosing and place that onto your cold air intake. And replace your engine cover. Now, that's gonna wrap it up for our review and install of the JLT Cold Air Intake with Red Oiled Filter, fitting your '06 and newer 5.7 Hemi Charger.
