The ribbed body of these cats reduces distortion and expansion when the converters heat up. The ribs hold the ceramic catalyst in place and create a tunnel that shields the cushioning mat from direct contact with exhaust gases.

      Exact OE Specifications. On the other hand, the ceramic coating on Magnaflow converters is designed for maximum flow and surface area, and the coating process is closely regulated to maintain exact requirements. The Magnaflow Direct-Fit Catalytic Converters use a monolithic honeycomb catalyst. At the same time, the inadequate coating could cause flow limitations or a failure of the emissions test. Furthermore, these converters are created to exact OE specifications.
