    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and we’re here with this, our appearance bolt on build up, for all 05-09 V6 Mustangs. The objective with this pack was to take our average looking V6, to the next level and beyond. We bolted on and installed over 20 different appearance parts, ranging from some smoked lighting from Raxiom, to AmericanMuscle Graphics tint vinyl, also a few different parts from MMD, like their black Billet aluminum fuel door, and their rear deck lid panel just to name a few. However, we think there are a couple of parts that really set the tone for our build, so let’s get into them. First we’ve got these MMD retro style mirrors which honestly are a night and day difference versus your old factory mirrors. As you can see we did decide to leave these unpainted, showing off that matte black finish, which really breaks up our competition orange paint job, and flows nicely with some of our other black accents on the car. There is a little bit of work getting these installed, you do have to transfer over your factory motors, and your wiring harness from your old mirrors, onto your new units. Honestly it’s just a couple of nuts and bolts, only took us an hour or two. Moving on to another part from MMD which really made our build, these Eleanor style pre-painted louvers. Any Mustang fan should know the name Eleanor pretty well, and I for one really dig the look these louvers give to any Mustang, whether it’s a V6, a GT, or certain silver 1967 GT500. That pre painted convenience is pretty good as well, you basically get them out of the box, prep the area, and slap them on, it’s just that easy. No more waiting, no more phone calls to your paint guy, and best of all, a perfect color match every time. Checking out the back of the car here you’ll notice a little forward thinking from Raxiom, I’m referring to these smoked coyote tail lights which you might have guessed are inspired from the 11 and 12 coyote Mustangs, and honestly they look right at home here on our S197 here as well. Of course, going with that smoked look was pretty much a no brainer considering all the black accents on our build, however what you won’t notice until you see these tail lights in action is this. That’s right, we’ve added the very cool sequential plug and play tail light kit as well, which is really going to crank up that cool factor. Alright, when it finally came time for new wheels and tires we decided to go big, literally. We ditched those puny 16” factory wheels in favor of these 18” staggered gloss black GT500 style wheels, along with some new rubber from Sumitomo. This wheel and tire package could have single handedly changed the entire attitude of our V6, on their own, but along with some of our other appearance mods that we’ve added today, well, I’m sure you can see the results speak for themselves. So the goal of this bolt on build up is simple in theory, but not always that easy to execute. You can’t just slap a bunch of random appearance parts on your V6 and expect it to look great. That’s why every part used with our build was well thought out and carefully selected, to help us achieve that look that blends a little bit of retro, with some of that modern in your face styling, and frankly we’re happy with the results. So that wraps up our appearance bolt on build up with our 05 V6 here, be sure to check out some of our other 05-09 V6 bolt on build ups, where we address our handling, and improve our acceleration and overall performance.

    • I have this one on my 08. I removed the old factory one and used the new one as a template to drill holes. The push pins did not hold very well so I replaced them with bolts, washers and nylock nuts. no problems anymore

Any clearance issues? I have a 1.25" drop and i drive my car to school every day, where there are speed bumps, wanted to make sure there wont be issues

    NickMorris13

    • You will be fine with regard to speed bumps. I will caution you though...beware of parking blocks and parking up against concrete curbs etc. Make sure to stop well short of them to avoid dragging across the top of them. (experience talking here) Also beware of steep driveway approaches. But the look of the car will be much better!

Can you install it with the matte black primer only? I want to give my pony a 'stealth' sort of look and the matte black would be perfect. Can I simply install it, or should I put a sealant on it or something? and if I do have to put something else on the spoiler, what would that be, and is that something I can do myself? Thank you for your help!!

    TimGuggenheim

    • It comes molded in a matte black finish so if that is the look you are going for no need to primer or paint. That is how I installed mine over a year ago and it still looks like the day I received it.

Exactly what color is this spoiler when it's unpainted?

    • The chin spoiler is an unpainted matte black color. It is the same color as the side skirts under the doors.

      Very Good Product

This is a very good product that really gives an aggressive look to the front of the V6 mustang. The instructions state to use plastic push pins to secure the spoiler to the bumper cover. I opted to use bolts with fender washers instead. It will be easy to loose the spoiler with push pins. Plus, with bolts you can really pull the spoiler up tight against the bumper cover to eliminate any gaps. Installation was a breeze, took about 30 minutes.

This spoiler was very easy to install, especially when I had the car up on a lift. I used 1/4" x 3/4" nuts/bolts and washers instead of the plastic push pins and the spoiler fit perfectly with no gaps at all. It definitely gives the front end of my '07 pony edition a much better look and the black color ties in very well with the side molding. I also ordered the Mustang decal for the third brake light and when cutting the top of the package off to open it, I cut off part of the decal. American Muscle immediately shipped another one at no charge. Overall a great experience with AM and I will look forward to dealing with them again soon.

Review from CDC Chin Spoiler - Unpainted (05-09 V6)

      Great chin spoiler

I have had this chin spoiler on my mustang for over a year. My mustang is lowered so this spoiler has taken a beating from the road, driveways, and parking curbs. I dont know how many times I have heard it scrape and it is still on my car. The spoiler is very durable though. If you have a car lowered or are not great at judging the distance of the curb when parking I would recommend not paiting it because it will take a beating. The chin spoiler fits snug and looks great when on. I like how it isnt huge. My only issue is the price. It should be at least 30-40 dollars cheaper.

      Great Product

I have had it on for about a year. Since my car is lower it has taken a beaten. Although there is dings on it from the road, it still has never come off the car which is surprising. Installation took about 30 minutes. I just drilled the holes and then pushed the fasteners in, and added a couple screws to the side of the car. It is snug. Price is a bit to high for a spoiler.

Great product! The factory chin spoiler was falling apart so I bought this one. It adds a fantastic look to the V6! It's looks a lot more professional and fast. It flows well with the sides as well. I am glad I got it. Well worth the money. It didn't take long to install either.

      Another Fine Product by CDC

Once again CDC has made a great product for the v6 S197. The unpainted dark grey spoiler compliments the factory rocker moldings nicely bringing a more balanced appearance to the car. Installation was quick and easy taking about 30 minutes to complete. Fitment of the product is flawless. If you want to bring a custom look to your ride that maintains a classic look without being too over the top in aggressive styling then this is the perfect chin spoiler for you.

      Agressive

This was one of the easiest, and appearance changing, items I have installed at first I didn't like it that much it doesn't stick out forward as far as other chin spoilers, and it doesn't have the drop as some of the others, but after driving around with it I have decided that I love it isn't an inch further out and down. I would definitely be dragging it at times if that was the case. It gives the car a really nice aggressive look with out overkill. It is a nice well rounded upgrade to the front of any V6 mustang.

Best replacement for stock bumper guard

My stock bumper guard or whatever you call it, got beat up by my poor parking skills. I also tore up my bumper underneath a little bit. I saw this chin spoiler and thought it would improve the look of my car. The stock part was busted in half and was hanging loosely in front. Looked horrible. Purchased it and had a body shop install it for $25. They didn't use the plastic clips but fastened it with nuts and bolts. It looks GREAT. I can now walk up to my car and not cringe at the sight of the old torn up piece under my bumper. Again...looks GREAT.

      Excellent upgrade

This is a fantastic upgrade and very easy to install. Personally, I used ramp stands to get the pony off the ground. From there simply secure each end in the wheel well as directed, match up the spoiler on the hood centerline, tape n place, and off you go! I also used bolt, nuts, and fender washers to secure the spoiler. You get the most secure fit and you can more easily remove in the future if needed versus those plastic push pins.

      Another Win from AM!

I really couldn't be happier with this product. I was nervous about drilling into the bumper but was pleasantly surprised when I found out how simple the install really was! (Unless you don't have a way to lift the front end of your car in which case this would be a much more difficult install) Once I had the car lifted, installation took maybe 15 minutes. It is very sturdy and I'm not ever worried about it falling off or coming loose! Be careful at low areas, dips, and speed bumps though because making your car look this good also makes the front end considerably lower. Great price, great look, great install! Thanks AM!

Sweet Enhancement for my '08 Convertible!

This is a sweet addition to my white '08 convertible. I purchased the unpainted version and it exactly matches the factory installed black running boards. I was surprised that it mounted so much further towards the front yet has such an impact on clearance. My driveway has a dip from the street to the gutter and then an incline up the driveway - my total clearance at the worst point is about 1.5". Thus, if you've got very tight clearance or slopes, be very cautious. I was nervous about drilling the holes for the push pins but a new drill bit cured that. I installed it myself by using clamps to hold it in place - worked like a charm. I dont think painters tape would have held it tight enough. The worst holes were in the corners closest to the wheel wells where there the drill almost hit the spoiler. Take it slow and steady and save those for the last - I started in the middle and worked to one side, then did the other. No issues! Overall, if you download the extra installation instructions with pictures, it was a breeze and something that almost anyone can knock out in about an hour.

      Best V6 Appearance Mod

If you own a V6 and you're not ready to invest in a special edition Mustang, such as a Boss, Bullitt, Roush, Saleen or Shelby, then this is the best modification you can make to improve the looks of your V6 Mustang. Its not cheap, but certainly less expensive than changing the entire front end. It completely changes the look of your 'Stang, giving it a much lower, more aggressive appearance. The mod is easy: simply drill a few holes in the lower front facia, and attach with the included push pins. I was finished in less than one hour. Also, the color was a perfect match. You can remove the factory, black rubber trim or not. Mine was in such poor condition, I took it off. Once you attach the new chin guard it won't show either way. Installation is quicker with the included push pins, but I don't like them, so I used 1/4"-20 x 3/4" stainless steel screws and lock nuts to attach the chin spoiler. It wasn't that difficult to do, and I feel better knowing it won't ever come loose. Warning: Once installed, you have to remember not to park too close to raised curbs. I scraped the bottom of my new chin spoiler once already, but it won't happen again! The spoiler held up just fine, and there wasn't any permanent damage.

      Great spoiler, perfect fit.

I could not ask for a better fitting product. The fit and finish is perfect. I installed it in 15mins. The hard part was having to "drill" holes in the front fascia but the spoiler hides them. It does give my '05 Mustang a more aggressive look especially with the Le Mans stripes it also has. Mark
