Justin: The SpeedForm 8-inch antenna here will be a great option for all 2005 to 2009 Mustang owners out there who are looking to ditch that goofy factory ski pole antenna and clean up the look by going with the much shorter option. Now, this extremely popular five-star rated antenna is going to run you about 10 to 15 bucks here on the site while the install itself is easy enough for my toddler to complete. So, therefore, we will call it a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, maybe five minutes of your time as we'll show you later in the video. So let's just dive right into things here with this rather simple product. And, again, what we are looking at here today, guys, is SpeedForm's option, 8 inches in length overall, which according to most of our customer reviews on the product page, is still good enough to maintain most of your terrestrial radio stations without issue while at the same time making a massive improvement in regards to your appearance. And that's, obviously, the big draw here. Now, if you live out in the country and maybe your radio reception is a bit spotty to begin with, you might want to consider going with SpeedForm's 14-inch option instead. Still going to clean up the appearance a little bit by essentially cutting the length of your factory antenna in half, but at the same time you are getting a little bit more material which in turn should help deliver a slightly better reception. Now as far as your construction is concerned here, guys, well, let's be honest, it's an antenna so not a ton to talk about. Instead, you are getting a very durable steel construction or build that's going to be finished off in satin black powder coat, which will be both scratch and weather resistant and not fade on you over the years. Quick heads up here, guys, SpeedForm does also offer the exact same thing on the site but in a bright chrome finish instead. It's going to double the price tag of the black option here, but it is available in both 8 and 14-inch options on the site. Last but not least, guys, we do want to show you what it takes to get the 8-inch antenna installed. Again, certainly not brain surgery here, so quick and painless job and to prove it to you, here is Joe with that detailed walkthrough along with a quick tool breakdown. Joe: The tool used for this install was a three-eighths inch wrench. First step to this install is going to be to remove your factory antenna. You can do this with a three-eighths wrench and just use it like a bolt. The final step of this install is to screw in your new antenna. And that's going to wrap up this review and install of the SpeedForm 8-inch Black Antenna for your Mustang. Thanks for watching and for all things Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.

Worth the buy.
For something small as an antenna, replacing the stock antenna with this one made a big difference in updating the look of my 2001 mustang. Easy to install and my order got here quick. Totally worth it.Helpful (0)

Easy to install
The stock antenna on my 2009 convertible looked like an outrigger on a fishing boat. This antenna looks much better than the stock antenna and seems to work just as well. The nice thing is that it took only 5 min. to install. I have satellite radio in the car for trips, so range is not an issue.Helpful (0)

Could've been a 5-star
The antenna is way better than the stock one. Mine came faster than expected and it couldve gotten a 5 star rating. HOWEVER, it is slightly bent in the middle. Not the end of the world, you don't notice it unless you really look at it. Other than that, it serves its purpose and looks great doing it.Helpful (0)

Will this replace the stock antenna? I recently purchased a different short antenna from another web site and when the antenna came it had 4 different adapter screws for it and none of them had the correct threading to fit the base in my '09 GT. Getting the old antenna off is easy enough, but I want to make sure that if I get this one from American Muscle that it will screw in as easy as the factory one screwed out. Thank you.
Yes, old antenna screws out, new screws right in. No loss of reception that I've noticed. When you install, place a thin cloth or tissue between the adjustable wrench and the base of the antenna to avoid scratching the paint or scoring the base of the antenna. Tighten with slight pressure, not too much. Good product.
Has the resting issue been resolved? I guess I could add a dab of white grease to it before screwing it in but really shouldn't have to.
There should not be any rusting issues, adding anti-seize or any type of rust inhibitor is never a bad idea when installing any part.
I had purchased this quite a while ago and I am restoring my 1987 Mustang GT. I went to install it and the threads in antenna base are much bigger/thicker. Is there an adapter I can purchase, or how to I get this to fit.
The threads for this antenna should be a direct replacement. We would be unable to determine what type of adapter is required without knowing the threads in your antenna base, and confirmed the threads in your antenna are correct.
How is the reception with it being smaller?
Hi ErbStalk...I bought the 8" antena for my 2006 mustang and I don't notice any difference in reception! You should not suffer any reception loss either. Hope this helps you out!
Is the antenna made from stainless steel?
This is made from steel, with a satin-black finish.
Unfortunately this will not fit an '03 Mustang GT.
The SpeedForm Fixed Black Antenna is flexible however due to its shorter length, it will not flex as far as the OEM antenna. We recommend removal if using an automated car wash.
This is only going to be the antenna and adapter. It does not come with the base.
We have only tested fitment of this SpeedForm Fixed Black Antenna on Mustangs and we unfortunately not be able to verify its fitment on the Ford Ranger.
Hey Roger, This antenna is pretty durable and should withstand car washes no problem
