How to Install Cervini's Type II Styling Bar - Unpainted (05-09 All) on your Ford Mustang

Step 1: Removing the back seat: To remove the bottom cushion push in the retainer release tab and lift the seat up as shown in fi g A. Remove the two 13mm bolts located in the lower corners of the seat back as shown in fi g B. Lift the seat back, up and slide it between the convertible top and the back panel as shown in fig C.

Step 2: Remove the quarter trim panels: Pull up on the trim panel cap to remove it. Pull the edge of the interior trim panel away from the door jam. Then, pull the whole interior trim panel towards the inside of the car until there is enough room to work behind it as shown in fi g D1 & D2.

Step 3: Installing the styling bar bracket: Remove the 10mm factory bolt located behind the shoulder belt guide. Align the top hole in the styling bar bracket with the factory hole in the seat belt support and reinstall the factory bolt as shown in fi g E. (Do not tighten at this time.) Install the styling bar to help locate the bracket. Tighten the factory bolt and drill two 1/4” holes in the quarter panel brace through the pre drilled holes in the styling bar brace as shown in fi g F. Remove the styling bar and install the supplied bolts, nuts, and lock washers.

Step 4: Cutting the hole in the trim panel: Remove the trim panel cap. Align the supplied template with the edges of the trim panel cap and tape it in place as shown in fi g G. If you do not have a hole saw big enough to drill out the hole you will have to cut it out with a reciprocating saw. Then, reinstall the trim panel cap.

Step 5: Installing the styling bar: Lower the styling bar evenly into the mounting brackets until it bottoms out on the interior trim panel caps. Insert a 5/32 Allen wrench through the shoulder strap opening and tighten the styling bar set screw as shown in fi g H.

Step 6: Reinstall your back seat.
