How to Install JLT Performance Cold Air Intake - HydroCarbon (15-17 GT) on your Ford Mustang

Installation Time

1 hours

Thank you for purchasing our product. We hope you are satisfied with the look and performance. Take your time and it will be a smooth install.

A tune specific for this intake is required when installing this kit. Failure to add a tune specific for the JLT intake may result in major engine damage.

***DO NOT INSTALL KIT AND DRIVE WITHOUT A TUNE! ***

Please review complete instructions prior to installing.

1. Verify you have all of the following parts included in the kit: (1) JLT Intake tube with fittings, (1) 4-3.5" Silicone Reducer, (1) 56 clamp, (1) 64 clamp, (1) 5x8 Air Filter, (1) Heat Shield with duct, (1) Sound Tube Cap, (1) Firewall Plug, (2) MAF screws, (1) MAF Gasket, (1) Heat Shield Insert, (1) VACUUM PLUG for late 2017 models

2. Gather all of the following tools needed for the installation: 5/16 nut driver, 10mm socket, ratchet, extension, T-20 torx driver, Phillips head screw driver or 7mm socket.

3. Install Tune for JLT Intake – Refer to instructions included with the Tuner.

4. If you have the strut tower bar, remove it. Remove your engine cover by pulling straight up. Next remove the stock airbox by loosing the clamp (Screw driver or 7mm socket) at the throttle body and removing the 10mm bolt in airbox. Unplug the 3 PCV connections, sound tube and MAF plug and remove as a unit.

5. Remove rubber locating spacer, mounting grommet and metal insert from stock air box and install in JLT Heat Shield. Set JLT shield into stock location and bolt down using stock air box bolt.

Line up duct on factory fresh air inlet and slide over. Press down on edge of duct to get the retaining "bump" past the shield.

6. Remove the stock MAF sensor from your airbox using a T-20 torx driver and install in the JLT tube using the supplied screws and MAF Gasket.

7. Attach reducer and clamps to the small end of the JLT tube and the air filter to the large end. Lower tube assembly down onto throttle body and into airbox.

CLAMPS ONLY NEED TO BE SNUG-DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN

8. Plug in MAF, sound tube or cap and all PCV connections and reinstall engine cover and strut bar.

Sound tube cap is very tight so no clamp is needed

9. Attach the factory clip on the MAF wire harness to the 1/4" hole in the front of the heat shield.

10. OPTIONAL: Foam heat shield insert- Install as shown below. Designed and included to seal engine heat from the filter while stopped.

11. 2017 MODELS BUILT AFTER 9/2016

You do not use the vacuum fitting above the PCV fitting. Using pliers remove the fitting from the tube and insert the supplied plug.

If not using the sound tube, remove factory tube all the way to the firewall and plug hole with supplied plug.

Oil Filter: The frequency you should clean your filter will depend on your driving conditions. It is recommended to check your filter at every oil change or 3,000 miles. If there is a build up of dirt as thick as the wire mesh, then it’s time to clean your filter. As dirt builds up on your filter, the restriction of the airflow also increases. More frequent cleanings will improve your fuel economy and your vehicle’s performance.

To properly clean your oil filter, we recommend the S&B Precision Cleaning & Oiling Kit (located in the Parts Sold Separately Section of our website, www.JLTtruecoldair.com).
