Hey everyone, Justin here with AmericanMuscle.com, checking out our very own Mach 1 style hood for all 05-09 Mustangs. This hood is inspired from the classic 71-73 Mach 1, and will add the same muscular styling to your modern S197, which is sure to set your ride apart from the others. Not only that, these functional hood vents help keep under the hood temperatures down by drawing much cooler air into your engine bay. All AmericanMuscle hoods feature quality craftsmanship at an affordable price, each one of our hoods has been designed and produced to the highest level of precision, ensuring a perfect fit every time, and made from the highest quality fiberglass. This hood does ship unpainted so you’ll definitely need to take it to your paint or body guy to have it prepped and painted to match your ride perfectly like what we’ve done with our 07 GT here. Now when it does come time to install your new hood you’ll find it extremely easy due to the fact that this hood utilizes both your factory latch and hinge locations, the first obvious step is to remove your stock hood, but when doing so, take the time to remove the two bolts holding your factory latch in place, and transfer it onto your new hood. Once you’ve done that grab a buddy and lower your new hood into place being careful not to scratch the paint. After you’ve done that simply tighten the floor bolts holding your new hood onto the factory hinges, and you’re done, everything should take you under an hour. This would also be a great time to check out a CDC squirter nozzle relocation kit as all our AmericanMuscle hoods don’t have any holes to allow for your factory nozzles, making for a much cleaner look. So if you’re a fan of the classic Mach 1 styling and you want to incorporate it on your modern day muscle car, then you’ll definitely want to check out our AmericanMuscle Mach 1 style hood for all 05-09 Mustangs.

Nice hood, poor packaging
Hood is nice, needs just a bit of finishing work. Packaging is not sufficient. Single wall cardboard and rigid styrofoam is not enough. My hood is fine, but definitely would benefit from corner reinforcement. Better protection.Helpful (4)

Mach 1 Style Hood
Great look and fits perfectly! On the standard 2008 Mustang V6, I had to drop down the the overflow tank 1 inch but it was an easy process.Helpful (3)

It added the old school to the new school look and It was exactly what I was looking for. Everyone can’t believe how much it changed the whole look of the car. I did have to make a couple brackets to lower the coolant reserve tank because the new hood hit the cap but well worth the hour I spent to make and install it.Helpful (8)

Fit A , finish A , needs inserts and slight mod
The hood is perfectly fit and finish was easy - needing minimal prep. Blocked out perfectly. Would like to have seen an option for inserts offered, but shouldn't be hard to make some. Other than slight modification to move reservoir back 1.5" and a slight trim to CAI box, nothing else was an issue. Looks amazing.Helpful (7)

Pure Retro Look
The Mach One hood I purchased is made perfectly. The fit was impeccable and will transform my 2007 GT with a 60s style. It's being painted today so I can't wait to get it back and installed. I will say though that I will need to come up with a way to block off the open ram ain't ducts so they are not wide open to the severe rains down here in southwest Florida.Helpful (10)

New hood looks amazing
The fitment of the hood is dead on and the aggressive style just adds to the lowered stance of my 2007 Saleen H281. The cap for the coolant reservoir just barely hits the edge of the scoop but it looks like an easy fix and is not at all a concern.Helpful (7)

needs scoop inserts
Great style, great look great quality and fit. The one problem that AM needs to address is the open scoops directly over alt. and CAI. Im in florida where daily downpours are expected. My mech told me to find a way to plug em up or id be buyin a new alt..I believe AM should work with manufacturer to include inserts to slide in place when needed. Im using 1 inch pipe insulation with a sponge inside 'til i find a permanent solutionHelpful (11)
Hood hit overflow tank. I recently purchased this hood and it hits the radiator overflow tank cap on the right side. Can someone PLEASE tell me how that was solved? I drive a 2007 V6 convertible. Thanks!!
Hey DrDennis, Unfortunately, yes. The slot does drop down too far and hit the cap. I avoided this by using two pieces of lightweight angle iron with a hole in each end. I simply moved the reservoir itself back about 1". I'd recommend going to your local metal fab shop and ask if they can either cut a piece of angle iron, or bend a piece of 14 gauge flat with two holes for mounting. Get them powder coated and you should be good to go!
How much does this hood weigh compared to the factory hood?
The Mach 1 Style Hood - Unpainted (05-09 GT, V6) weighs 55 lbs boxed. The stock hood roughly weighs 30 lbs.
Hood struts Can I use hood struts with this hood or do I have to use the prop rod.
As long as there is an inner frame you should be able to install hood struts. Most aftermarket hoods are made with a stock looking frame.
whats the difference in this one and the Cervinis .They look exact. but a big difference..why. what am I missing.
The Cervini's Mach 1 Ram Air Hood will have more defined raised sections behind the scoops than the Mach 1 Style Hood as well as several minor stylistic changes. Additionally these are manufactured by two different brands which will account for a large portion of the pricing difference.
I have the ford racing manifold which is quite high. Does this hood have any more engine clearance than the stock hood?
This will have similar clearance as the stock hood.
You should be able to have the hood wrapped with carbon fiber. We would recommend confirming with a paint/vinyl shop.
Unfortunately, this hood does not include any mesh inserts for the hood vents. However, you may be able to custom make inserts for your Mustang or you can have a body shop custom make an insert that would install inside the hood vents.
Unfortunately, the Cervini's hood locks are designed to work with the OEM hood or Cervini's aftermarket hoods and will not be compatible with this hood.
The hood pin kit will work with this hood. They scoops on this hood will not interfere with the location of the pins.
The Mach 1 Style Hood should have no fitment issues with your 2007 GT.
Unfortunately the Mach 1 Style Hood does not have a screen made specifically for the vents. You could always have custom vents made for the vents as well.
This Hood is raised a bit higher than the stock hood. Though, the Boss 302 Strut Tower is tall, so you may still have clearance issues.
The spoiler we used was the CVX Style Ducktail Spoiler. I've attached the link below for you!
This Mach 1 Style Hood - Unpainted (05-09 GT, V6) will have enough clearance for a Whipple Supercharger.
It appears it will be the same style, unfortunately since that is a different company I cannot guarantee the specs will be the same. This Mach 1 Style Hood - Unpainted (05-09 GT, V6) does allow for some extra clearance above the motor, that room is for the heat extractors to help pull that hot air out of the engine bay. I do not believe it would be enough room to fit a larger blower, you may want to look into a Cowl hood for that kind of clearance.
