Quick and Easy Appearance Mod for A Pronounced Effect
I am in the process of blacking out the accents on my white 2005 GT and after purchasing black tail light covers, tinting the third brake light, tinting the windows and blacking out the grill pillars it was time to move on to the ugly orange turn signals.
I debated whether to buy this tint or to spend the extra few dollars and go with the actual smoked turn signal covers and in the end opted for the tint. I have had bad experiences in the past with the whole pre-cut tint strips that have to be applied with the soapy water mixture so I was a bit skeptical in waiting. The shipping, although a bit more delayed than usual, was still relatively fast and to my surprise these were unlike any of the other decals/tint that I have purchased previously. These are a little more thick and come with an already sticky adhesive on the back. You still have to use water for the installation, but only so that you can move the decal in place before the water dries and it sticks permanently.
I had read in some of the reviews that the cut was not spot on and that some orange/yellow still showed either above or below the tint, but mine were a perfect fit top to bottom. Left to right they were a little long, but I just started each decal on the inside edge of the turn signal, sat it flush all the way around and then I was able to actually tuck the excess behind the fascia of my car (the turn signal light actually extends back behind the fascia a little ways anyway, so it really ended up being the perfect size.
My only knock on these decals is that they are still a little too light for my taste. The orange shows through in the daytime so that you don't really achieve the stark black effect that I was envisioning. This may be intentional, as I'm sure there is a law somewhere that says so much light has to be visible, etc. I can't help wondering, though, if the covers would have achieved a darker effect. Both the covers and tint strips are priced a bit high in my opinion. I believe with how small these pieces are they would fit better at a $9.99-14.99 range. Likewise I think the covers fit better in the $19.99 range especially considering you can get a much larger piece (the taillight covers) for the same $49.99 price as the small turn signal covers.
Overall a good product, and I would definitely recommend it!
