How to Install a Bassani Catted X-pipe - Manual on your 1999-2004 Mustang GT and Cobra

Installation Time

2 hours

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
1. Spray attaching hardware and base of O2 sensors with WD40 or similar. Unbolt the ball and socket joints between the X-PIPE and Mufflers. Support the inlet side of the stock Muffler.
2. Remove the oxygen sensors from the stock pipe and remove the nuts at the exhaust manifold. Remove the nuts on the hanger bracket at the cross member (all except, 4699-2 & -3, and 4600-2 & -3) and remove the stock X-PIPE.
3. Install both 2W band clamps to slip connector on the X-Pipe. Lubricate the tubes where they slip into the X-Pipe with anti-seize.
4. Slip the tubes into the X-Pipe then slip the band clamp all the way to the end of the X-Pipe and snug them down. NOTE: DO NOT tighten all the way.
5. Install the assembled X-Pipe system on the car, using the stock OEM exhaust gaskets (replace if damaged). Install the rest of the hardware and make it snug.
6. Check and make sure the exhaust is aligned properly and not rubbing anywhere. Tighten all hardware. Studs in right side manifold must be centered in large holes in flange on Bassani X-Pipe to prevent possible leak.
7. Tighten connections at exhaust manifold.
8. Fit oxygen sensors in place and attach mufflers. DO NOT use anti-seize on O2 Sensors.
Note: Aftermarket catalytic converters may set a catalyst efficiency code, due to non-compatability with the factory program operation parameters. This in no way affects the performance of your vehicle. In order to assure that the MIL lamp will not be illuminated because of this code, or when installing an off-road X-Pipe the rear oxygen sensors on each side must be replaced with 02 Simulators/MIL eliminators. This can also be accomplished by reprogramming the ECM.
