How to Install Boom Mat Vibration Dampening Material on Your Mustang

Installation Time

30 minutes

Tools Required
  • Box cutter or Knife
  • Lint-Free Surface Preparation Wipes

Installation

Preparation Procedure:

1. Determine the surface that the Boom Mats should be applied to.

2. Clean the surface using the lint-free surface preparation wipes thoroughly. In some cases, a second or third intensive rub down may be necessary in order for the Boom Mat to adhere to the surface properly. An example of an extreme case requiring multiple cleaning stages would be anything under a vehicle or inside the engine bay.

Installation Procedure:

1. With surface prepared, measure the area to which Boom Mats will be applied. Trim the Boom Mat to the appropriate sized or shape to satisfy the area to be covered. For my application, I used the Boom Mat material under my car around the emergency brake housing in an effort to eliminate the noisy vibrations caused by the car’s exhaust. Since this was a tight place to put this sort of material, I used a box cutter to cut the boom mat into small rectangles so that covering the area would be much easier.

2. Remove backing from Boom Mat and CAREFULLY set into position. Please note that once the Boom Mat is in place, they are very difficult to remove and will not be salvageable once removed.

3. Once Boom Mat is on the surface, rub the material onto the surface to ensure the Boom Mat adheres properly.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 as necessary until desired surface is covered.

5. Enjoy a drive free of vibrations and excessive noise!
