Do you need a tune if shorty headers are installed onto a GT? If I installed these onto my GT, would I need to tune it after? I do have a Diablo tuner so I could, just not sure if I need to and if so, what adjustments woudl I need to make?? Thanks!!

  • A tune after instalation is not required but definitely recomendet.

Ford Racing Headers I purchased the FRPP Intake manifold with the GMS 62mm TB and have yet to install them as I want to add these FR Headers. My question is, do I need an additional BAMA Tune for these headers with the TB and Intake? I have the BAMA download for the TB and Intake, however should I request another BAMA tune for these headers as I want to install all these bolt ons at the same time?

  • Absolutely! Anytime you had anything to your car you won't get the full benefit of the product without a tune.

will these headers hook up to my magnaflow catted xpipe? will the fit be nice and tight or might i have to adjust some things in order to get it to be a tight fit?

  • General rule of thumb is to stick with the same brand header and mid-pipe just to eliminate any possibility of needing to make minor adjustments for a proper seal. Since these are Ford Racing, you shouldn't run into any fitment issues bolting it up to the Magnaflow X. That being said, since they are different brands, there is a slim chance you might have to make some slight adjustments.

Love the sound. installed along with flowmaster super american mufflersI installed these babys in under 2 hours (i work for ford) Directions are decently detailed. Easiest and fastest way: Disconnect alternator with bracket, unscrew the motor mounts ( 1 on each side) use a motor hoist to hoist the motor up about 1 1/2-2 inches up. This will allow clearence without having to take off the starter. Disconnect battery ofcourse since leaving the starter in. Disconnect stearing column. Disconnect mid pipes. Remove headers and install the in opposite order. Hope this helps!

Picked up the car from FORD and install was $500. The engine is way quieter and revs up smoothly. More torque noticed for sure and a deeper exhaust note coupled with my Flowmaster American Thunder axlebacks. Outside the car sounds fantastic and inside with the windows up you can still hear the low deep rumble. Thanks AM for the great products.

    Way too much.....

The headers and hardware look great. Shipped out quick like AM always does. I have no idea what the headers sound like yet. 9 hours of pure torture and I called FORD to come get the car. They will install them on Monday and hopefully I will be happy. I am waiting for a big "I told you so" from the wife as well. Save time and money and get these things installed by a pro.

    Very Clean Rumble

I installed these with a Pypes X-pipe w/Cats and Flow Master 40 series. This setup produces a very clean rumble and pulls hard through 2nd and 3rd. I would have given them a 5, but the studs connecting the header to the down pipes are poorly engineered. You will be better off using the stock studs and nuts. Do not forget the tuner, you will need it. If not, the check engine light will come on due to the 02 sensor reposition.

I put them on my 06 with a cat back exhaust. They were pretty easy to put on but the direction don't tell u everything u need to take off. On the passenger side u have to take the starter out. And then the drivers side after u take the steering column out be sure to take off the motor mount for more room and easier removal. But all and all i noticed more power through 2nd and 3rd.

    Very Nice

These headers are great. They fit nice, look good (the casual observer won't even notice), sound sic, and the power gains down low are real. Peak hp gains don't tell the whole story. These shorties make a really nice improvement from about 2-4k rpm. Along with my FRPP cut n clamp xpipe and my stock m5320gtb (Bullitt) mufflers, the sound is quiet but deep and authoritative. The install was a pretty big pain, but others have commented about that. I followed the instructions in the box, but I jacked the motor and took off the "ear" of the mount on the passenger side. That allowed access to the two front bottom bolts. Aside from that it's straight forward but still a beating. It was worth it in the end though, and I'm really glad I went with these headers.

    Awesome sound and fitment.

Bought these headers because when trying to install my JBA X-Pipe, I broke a stud off of the collector on my stock manifolds. So I figured, hey, might as well just upgrade while I'm here. I've had long tubes before and I just didn't want something that loud, so I decided on these. I had them installed by a shop, but fitment is perfect and they sound awesome. Performance gains are negligible, but they definitely sound a lot better than factory manifolds.

    Solid Parts

The FRPP Headers are a nice piece. I highly recommend removing the motor mounts completely. It makes the install much smoother and easier. Removing the header studs was a little tedious due to the hex heads on the studs stripping and not coming out easy. Double nutting the studs got all of the studs out. The fitment of the headers was really good and over all the install wasn't that bad. The performance gains weren't not very noticeable. I understood before buying them that they wouldn't add much HP and TQ. They look good and sound good.

    Ford shorty headers

I was going to install these myself, and probably should have, but I figured that after years of wrenching, I could pay someone younger than myself to do this! LOL. Anyway, I can't say much about the install other than to check the latest instructions that say to move the engine in the mounts as far to the passenger side as possible. This step was not in the included instructions. When I first started my car, I was surprised that it didn't seem any louder at all. The tone quickly changes as you get over 4000 RPM though! Sounds great and along with the airaid race CAI and Bama tuner that I installed the day before there is defiantly a performance increase! Tomorrow I will see if there is a mileage increase as well.

    Best header for the price

I broke a bolt off my stock manifold changing my h pipe so I decidednl to upgrade to these headers rather than fix the factory manifolds. U can really see them so appearance doesn't matter but as for sound and power this was probably one of my favorite upgrades so far

    Big job...

I was excited when I got these and couldn't wait to put them on. I guess I got a little lucky that my car only has a few thousand miles on it, so most of the bolts broke loose fairly easy. I used a lift which helped alot so I feel sorry for you guys planning on using ramps. These headers fit very tight and to get them in you have to take your steering shaft loose, starter out. Passenger motor mount out, and a few other smaller things. I believe they're well worth the frustration of installing in the end. The steering shaft is very close to rubbing the header but I drove around for a while using hard turns, acceleration, and braking and had absolutely no issues. Remember to get your tune!

    Worth the Effort

Installed these headers on my 06 GT. Very difficult install and not for the amateur mechanic. Be prepared to spend the entire day installing these. A lift would be very helpful but the install can be done with ramps or jack stands. Performance gains are minimal but the look and sound are worth the effort and you will shed some weight in the front end as the stock cast iron manifolds are heavy. I combined these headers with a Pypes X pipe and Violator Mufflers and it really opens up the exhaust system. Be prepared for lean trouble codes so you will need to retune your motor. Better high end power and the sound is just wicked along with the improved look under the hood. These should have come stock on the car!

Took 6 hr to install on a hoist. Had to remove starter and passenger motor mount to life engine to get at header bolt. Headers fit perfect and sound awsome , and noticed a power increase , very worth it for the price
