How to Install a Black Instrument Bezel & Clear Lens on your 1999-2004 Mustang

Installation Time

1 hours

Tools Required
  • T15 Torx Driver
  • Small Flat Head Screwdriver

Tools Required:

• T15 Torx Driver
• Small Flat Head screw driver

Installation Time: Approximately 30 minutes

Installation Instructions:

1. Disconnect your battery before beginning. First thing to do is to remove your headlight knob. Do this by pulling it straight out.

2. This is what it should look like without the knob.

3. Now locate the two T15 torx screws at the top of your gauge panel cover and remove them.

4. Now the panel should remove by pulling straight out. Do this carefully so you do not break the clips behind it.

5. Now locate the four black t15 torx screws on the gauge cluster and remove them.

6. Now begin to pull the gauge panel straight out while tilting it back. There are two harnesses connected to the back. One on the left side upper and one on the left side upper, remove these and the gauge panel will come out freely.

7. On the top of each harness push down on the tabs to release the harness.

8. Now your gauge cluster can be removed and taken to a table to remove the rest of the screws.

9. Now begin to remove the eight t15 brass torx screws from the gauge cluster

10. You can now remove the front plastic cover and install your new shiny American Muscle cover pictured below. (On a side note this is an opportune time to install any new gauge face plates while you have the gauges apart)

11. Now install your new plastic cover to your gauge cluster.

12. Now re-install your gauges back into the car. Remember to connect both harnesses securely and then mount the gauges back in using the four black t15 torx screws. Also make sure to turn the car on to check and make sure the gauges work.

13. Next install the cover by popping it into place and screwing the two remaining black t15 screws into the top. Then put your headlight knob back on.

14. Now you are finished, and if like me can finally see your gauges again! Go out and ride!
