More Horsepower and Torque. Now you can improve the performance of your V6 Mustang with a set of PaceSetter Black Long Tube headers for power you can feel throughout the RPM band. These Long Tube headers when combined with a PaceSetter shorty mid pipe will greatly improve your Mustangs exhaust flow for an increase in horsepower, torque, and throttle response.

Durable Construction. Manufactured from 1-5/8" mandrel bent 16-gauge carbon steel tubing for strength and unrestricted airflow, these PaceSetter Long Tube Mustang Exhaust headers feature CNC-machined 3/8" thick header flanges for additional strength and an OEM fit.

Black Painted Finish. These PaceSetter Headers feature a standard black painted finish, which is used to protect the headers during storage and shipment, as well as providing an aggressive appearance to your engine bay. This is not a heat-resistant coating.

Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a Bama custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Application. These PaceSetter Long Tube Headers are designed to fit the 2005 to 2010 Mustangs equipped with 4.0L V6 engine. These Long Tube headers will require the use of a shorty style PaceSetter Y-pipe for proper installation (See drop down option above).

will this fit with my Pypes True Dual Exhaust (05-10 V6) im wondering if thePaceSetter Black Long Tube Headers (05-10 V6) will be a good fit with my Pypes True Dual Exhaust (05-10 V6) or if i will need to buy a off road X-pipe to make it fit. right now i just have the stock headers


  • I have this setup on my 05 V6 and since the headers did not line up with the x pipe, i ended up cutting the x pipe from the Pypes true dual exhaust about 2 inches on each side and it worked out fine. Now it sounds super mean and loud which is great! O2 sensors were just a problem because the long headers remove the cats so only 2 of the 4 can be connected. The options there are have another spot welded on to the x pipe for the other sensors or get MIL eliminators.

H Pipe will the GT pacesetter H pipe work with these to avoid using the Y pipe?


  • Mixing V8 and V6 stuff and you will have a big headache in the end. AM has some nice kits with shorty headers and cat back true duals all made by the same company a guaranteed fit!

could i use an x pipe with these headers? also do i need to remove the catalytic converter for this install with true dual exhaust?


  • Hey, Younggun, Chad Here. These long tubes will remove your factory cats completely, so they are off road exhaust without additional cats. From personal experience I can say with alot of modification they will work with the pypes true dual kit, but to keep your ride legal, I highly suggest getting a set of shorty headers.

What kind of modification would need to be done to get these to fit with the Pypes Mid-Muffler True Dual Exhaust on a 2006 V6?


  • Since these PaceSetter 1-5/8 in. Black Long Tube Headers require the use of Pacesetter's mid-pipe, the Pypes Mid-Muffler True Dual Exhaust, Item 20126, would require modification to the h-pipe for proper fitment. Would these fit with my Pypes Mid-Muffler True Dual Exhaust on my 2010 v6?


  • There may need to be some modification as the mid-pipe that is required with these headers is the PaceSetter Offroad Y-Pipe item #51059. However the piping size is 2.5" which will match with the Pypes Mid-Muffler True Dual Exhaust pipe size.

In the comments there are complaints about smoke/ a bad smell when the paint burns off, if I wrap them in exhaust wrap do you think that would help that problem?


  • It is uncommon for the paint to burn off immediately, however, the exhaust would benefit from using an exhaust wrap around these headers.

    PLEASE NOTE: All black painted headers are painted to prevent them from rusting while on the shelf and during shipping. To ensure the headers are going to last, you MUST strip the paint and re-coat or paint them with a header paint such as DEI Hi-Tem Silicone Coating. Or simply buy the armor coated ones. Look it up online. Many people have installed these black ones then talk of the paint coming off. However, these are awesome pipes at a now even greater price. Best wishes tho those who install.

    Gaskets that came with headers leave a gap between the headers. Would recommend buying new thicker gaskets before install. Paint burn off as soon as engine started running. Besides that great fix and really woke up my cars engine. Great product

    Long tube headers.

    I do like these headers. I had them installed with a true dual set of straight pipes and high flow cats, and of course a 91oct race tune from all the great folks over at BAMA Performance. The only down side is that the gaskets that come with these aren't the greatest, so I am getting bbk gaskets. And the paint, I don't understand why you would paint headers with regular paint, it burns right off when you install them and the smell lasts for about a week. But, I love the sound, it's very raspy and sounds more like a muscle car, and I did notice some mid range hp gain with these headers. Over all, I do like them, and I absolutely recommend them to any v6 owner looking to beef up their stang. But if you get these, it is advised that you get some O2 extendors and some new gaskets as well. Over all this is a great product, thanx again AM. You guys are awesome.

    PaceSetter Black LT Headers

    These headers gave my 06 stang a deeper sound and a little more pick up when i hit the gas! I didn't want to pay a kechanic to do it so i made it a weekend project with my dad. Took us a solid day because we had to do a little fabrication with the exhaust, but all and all it isn't the most difficult thing to do by yourself! The one thing I didn't like was how they didn't put high temp black paint on the headers, so the first couple times i drove it after installation the paint smelled pretty wrank burning off the pipes.....

    Pace Setter long tubes

    These long tubes are amazing, they will definitely wake up your v6 I had an x pipe installed also, theyou are an amazing product I recommend these if your trying to get a much louder stang, the install only took roughly an hour and a half,but seriously if your looking for a great set of headers the Pace Setter long tube headers are the way to go.

    Amazing bang for your buck!!

    For the price of these headers you can't beat it. They are made well. Just a FYI the black coating does indeed come off. I wrapped mine and combined it with the JBA catted H pipe and it sounds amazing. You will need the O2 extender one set for the upper 02 sensors and if you use your rear 02 sensor you will need 2 sets to reach to the rear bungs. Overall great product!!

    Great performance part

    You can totally feel the difference in power , the throttle response is noticble and it gives the car a more aggressive sound. In overall it's a great product and should be concidered in buying it

    sounds great...noticeable power gains

    Took about 4 hours total time to instal with a buddy.. sounds like a cammed v8 at start up and idle. H pipe..pype bombs..m80's longtubes no cats..i have one angry sounding v6

    these sadly are not california legal

    I bought these thinking they were okay to put on my v6, but sadly in California you wont pass smog. If you don't live in Cali buy them for sure.

    i agree with thiguy65, if your looking to get the most out of your v6 then get this product. after i installed the LT headers I've noticed a huge increase in performance. if your wondering what i was, then yes, the JBA Catted Shorty H-Pipe (05-10 GT) does fit!

    This product was worth it.

    If your looking for some serious gain in hp or torque, I would recommend getting this product. I got a 2009 v6 with pacesetter long tube headers, gt catted h pipe, and borla s-type catback. My exhaust sounds amazing and I havnt even got it tuned yet. Still saving up on that SF3 tuner, I already bought my JLT CAI cold air intake but havnt installed it yet cause a tuned was required. But get it, its worth it! Dont get that shorty y pipe, go for dual exhaust!!

    Great product

    I had local shop install and got a great deal. He had no problems fitting and installing. He did have to remove cats, if you want cats they have to be relocated. I would advise relocating them myself(I'm getting o2 extensions here at am to make it simple and easy). At the moment my car sounds absolutely terrible but that's because that cats are off and still have Flow master 40's on(which i hate btw). But i have herd a V6 with these same long tubes and cats with no muffler and it sounds amazing, will have same set up shortly. All together I do feel a gain in the mid power, will feel more with good tune. no cats are throwing things off for my car and it feels like it doesn't quite know what to do with the more open exhaust but again tune will fix that.

    Worth the effort!

    These headers are everything I hoped for! Great gains in Hp/Tq and sounds amazing. For the cost you cant go wrong. Install was a pain because of limited space but other than that its pretty strait forward. I got the high flow cats go with. Only downside is my pypes x-pipe did not line up properly anymore so i ended up having it bent a little and then welded in. If you are wondering how it sounds ive uploaded videos on Youtube under spartan1492. All in all very satisfied!

    Best bolt on Mod out there!!!

    So I bought these about 6 months ago with the intentions of putting them on that weekend. I've done just about every bolt on modification out there for my V6. Total installation time was about 5-6 hours and that was by myself. I bought this V6 as a repo car with 100k miles on it for 4 thousand bucks. I felt like a got a good deal, it was a piece of junk when I bought it. Thanks to places like American muscle I've turned into in a project car, I'm constantly turning heads everywhere and getting compliments almost everyday. I completed this entire project by myself, no help at all and I completed it on jacks. Prior to putting this in I had the true dual system installed about a month before which gave my v6 a bang for its buck but I wanted more and I knew freeing up those terrible manifolds might do the trick. So I followed the instructions and unbolted my h-pipe and removed my cats, didn't have to lift the engine or motor mounts, trust me I didn't have the right stuff to do that anyway lol. A couple of hand tools and patience and I had the new long tube headers on, I wiggled them down in through the engine bay, wasn't simple but with enough moving and wiggling it worked! Make sure you bolt on the EGR pipe before putting the driver side header on, this will make life a lot easier, and make sure you take it off before trying to pull down the old manifolds, that was the biggest problem I ran into. Keep in mind, I had to put the CATS back on which I replaced with smaller ones bc you can't reuse the stock cats, they are bent wrong for this setup, even with the cats "keeping it legal" its sounds crazy, I drove it around with open headers and I sounded like a drag car. My system sounds better then a 5.0, trust me, it's louder little to no drone and I can rip into the higher RPMS and turn heads on the interstate, it's scary but still a good daily driver! I love this website, I used to be a noob who couldn't change a lightbulb and now I've learned how to do tons of stuff! Thanks AM!

    Great Performance Gain!

    I am very happy with my choice in going with the longtubes rather than the shorties. I was amazed at the mid range power gain from these, especially with the tune. I would recommend these to any v6 owner.
