Silly question, but will the block need to be bored out to fit these pistons?

  • We would recommend taking your block to a machine shop to ensure the block is okay, and to be honed because installing this Scat Stroker 347 ci Forged Competition Rotating Assembly.

Is there any need for a new cam, new roller/lifters, etc.? Or will this fit right in w/ everything else stock?

  • While the Scat Stroker 347 ci Forged Competition Rotating Assembly can be installed with a stock top end, it is not recommended, as the stock heads, cam, and intake manifold will be a major restriction compared to the new increased displacement. This will result in power gains far below ideal.

I was curious other than price what the difference is between the scat stroker 347 forged rotating assembly and the other 347 stroker 9000 series kit.

  • The Scat Stroker 347 ci Forged Competition Rotating Assembly (79-95 5.0L) comes with a 4340 forged crankshaft, 4340 forged H-beam connecting rods, and premium forged flat top pistons. These forged internals are a lot stronger than other applications because of how they are made. Forged internals will be able to handle a lot more power. The Scat Stroker Series 9000 347 ci Street-Strip Rotating Assembly (79-95 5.0L), item # 100532, (, comes with a 9000 Series cast crankshaft, Pro Stock I-beam connecting rods, and forged flat top pistons. While this is definitely an upgrade from the stock internals, cast is not as strong as forged. It depends on how much power you'd like the engine to produce, which will determine which is the best kit for your needs!
