How to Install a Taylor Street Thunder 8mm Spark Plug Wires on your 2005-2010 Mustang V6

Installation Time

1 hours

Tools Required
  • Small Flathead Driver
  • Couple Q Tips
  • Electrical Tape
  • Mag lite
  • Tie Straps (if needed)
  • 10mm Wrench

1. Firstly locate your stock coil pack. It should be on the driver side closest to the fire wall. After that make sure to disconnect negative terminal on battery (10mm Wrench).

2. Follow the wires along to the boots and remove any of the factory wire clips. Use the flat head driver to pop the clip apart.

3. You need to now unplug the wires from the spark plugs, this includes pulling and wiggling. They have stronger boots around the ends that you can grab to help you pull the spark plug out.

4. Remove each of the old spark plug wires by squeezing tabs and lifting off from the old coil pack. A little force will need to be applied. Also twist while pulling if they are being difficult.
5. Once all boots are off the coil packs locate the silicone lubricant/sealer that came with wires.

6. Using a small Q tip (or any other device of similar nature) apply the grease compound on to the end.

7. Use the greased Q tip to get inside the new distributor boot on the new wires and apply a thin layer evenly on the inside.

Similar to step 7. Apply grease with Q tip to the inside of the new plug boots. DO NOT go all the way down to metal, only grease the rubber part.

8. Make sure all the plastic tubing is taken off old wires and installed on new wires. Fit the tubing on and in approximately the same location, then using some electrical tape hold it in spot.

9. Once all new wires are prepped to go on, remove one at a time the factory boots from plug and using old wire, compare with new wires and find the wire that closest matches the length. Install the wire onto the coil pack by putting the brass end in first then pushing down until clasps close around base, run the wire to the appropriate plug and push new boot on until a pop or click noise is heard. Make sure wire isn’t resting on anything that will get extremely hot.

10. Once all boots are seated on plugs and pop is heard. Check to make sure all wires are not in danger of heat damage. Re install the factory 3 wire clips onto wires where ever they dangle loose.

11. Once that’s all done you can reconnect battery and fire the engine up!
