      Review & Installation Video

Hey guys, Justin here with AmericanMuscle.com. And I'm going to be taking a closer look at the C&L Street and Racer Cold Air Intake system available for your 2011 to 2014 Coyote powered GT.C&L is definitely going to be one of the nicer intake options available for your '89 to '14 Mustang. Now they actually dedicate a majority of their time and efforts into designing flow bench testing and producing Mustang's specific intakes and have been doing so for over 20 years now, whether it's a cold air for your Coyota like we have here or a map housing for your Fox body or Cobra, chances are C&L has you covered. Now if you do want to see more stuff from C&L, including my own personal build where I have used this exact same intake on my own GT, then be sure to check out our YouTube Channel some time, American Muscle videos, and be sure to subscribe while you're there. So this video is going to be focusing on both the C&L Street and Racer Cold Air Intake systems. Now at first glance you can see both intakes look identical and that's because they are. The only exception is the C&L Street here does include this removable insert that does allow you to run this intake without the use of a custom tune. On the other hand, the Racer here does not include that insert and, therefore, does have to be used with a custom tune thanks to the larger 95 millimeter map housing that both intakes do include. The Street is a perfect option for those of you without a custom tune but might want to explore that option later on down the road.As you guys may or may not know by now, the purpose of an aftermarket cold air intake system, like the C&L here, is to eliminate the restrictive factory airbox increasing the airflow into your motor, either with or without a tune. Now even though that C&L Street intake does not require the use of a custom tune, we always recommend going with a custom Bama tune just to get the most power out of your setup as we'll demonstrate in a minute. Dissecting the intakes a little further, you'll notice they both do include the same rotomolded plastic intake tube along with a 95 millimeter map housings. We're also looking at reusable high airflow filter which is a nice touch that allows you to clean and re-oil them as you go, saving you the hassle of buying a new filter every few months. The intakes also include a plastic heat shield which is going to keep that hot engine air from entering your motor along with all the couplers and hardware needed for the installation. Now most people think of performance gains first when installing an aftermarket cold air intake system and rightly so, but there are also a few other benefits worth noting. The first of which is appearance. Now in my opinion an aftermarket air intake system, like the C&L here, just looks much better under the hood. It gives you that added bling factor when compared to the factory intake. The second is sound. Installing an aftermarket cold air intake will unleash a sound on your Coyote motor that you just have to hear for yourself. Now, in fact, don't take my word for it, definitely check out some of our customer views back on the product page if you're not there already. Just click the link below, and you can also check out over 20+ customer submitted images of this intake installed on customer rides. As for the installation itself, you'll be happy to know that installing a cold air intake on your GT is without a doubt one of the easier jobs to tackle. It can be done with basic hand tools in about an hour's time in your driveway. Now, of course, if you guys should get jammed up, don't forget to reference your detailed installation instructions on the product page or feel free to reach out to a Mustang expert anytime using the 1-800 number. With the intake installed, we're going to remove that insert and upload a custom Bama tune to see what the C&L intake is truly capable of. Now the custom Bama tune is going to do a few things for us and our four valve motor. It's going to optimize our spark timing, adjust our variable cam timing, increase our throttle response, and get those fuel ratios right where they need to be.With our baseline RD run already out of the way, now it's time to turn the rollers one more time and see what the C&L Bama combination did for our 2012 GT. Our baseline run using our 2012 GT gave us 361 horsepower and 344 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels. With the C&L Bama combination in place, the car is now making 387 horsepower and 375 pound feet of torque, giving us a peak increase of 26 horsepower over those baseline numbers and gains of as much as 30 horsepower and 35 pound feet of torque throughout the curve. So if you're looking for a solid bolt-on that's easy to install and should give your Coyote motor a nice bump in power and sound, then be sure to check out both the C&L Street and Racer intake for your ride right here at AmericanMuscsle.com.

        Great Mod!!!

It was an easy install, minus the heat shield being completely not for the Mustang. But after contacting customer support they agreed after the pictures I sent! So they said they would send me a new heat shield that actually fits my Mustang! The performance after install was amazing! And with the required tune of course! I would recommend this mod to anyone wanted to beef up there HP and TQ!

Good fit and does the job

The fit was good and it fit on the BBK 90mm TB, little tight but it goes on, and you can hear the Boss 302 manifold sucking in the air.

        Great bolt on!!!!

This cold air kit was a great fit for me since I had just purchased a tuner as well. if you don't have a tuner yet, get one, or get the CandL with the street insert that you can remove later. With larger Mass air housing, you can not only feel the difference in power, you can hear it as well. Keep in mind, my gains are not just because of the air kit, but the tune as well, great over all set up.

5 2014 GT - Bware Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Nice CAI. Super Easy install

Install took 1/2 hour. Looks so much better without stock CAI. The new tune seems to provide more torque and back end power. My performance tune previously seemed a little “quicker” around 3k rpm, where you feel the tune kick in. The tune with the racer CAI feels like smoother power and no sudden “kick in”

        Awesome cai!

This is what all Mustangs should come with from the factory.. gives you good throttle response and power you can feel. I combined this upgrade with offroad x pipe which opened up the monster.
