Aloha from Hawaii AM!, More than likely I'm going to buy this part, but I've been reading up on issues with hanging idles on the 99-04 4.6's. I have a 2000 GT mostly stock with aftermarket exhaust. My idle hangs anywhere from 1100-1300 rpm until I come to a complete stop. From my understanding the hanging idle is by design and that Ford did that for emissions purposes. I don't want to buy a part and have the same results as before so my question is, ballpark, with a new IAC and assuming nothing else is wrong where should my rpm range be? Mahalo!

    • Hello There! We are very familiar with this common issue that occurs with the 1999 to 2004 Mustang GTs. Unfortunately replacing the Ford IAC has not solved this issue. There are a couple different ways that other customer of ours have been able to fix this the most common we see using a type of restrictor plate. I recommend checking out some of the online forums to for some examples of this fix and maybe some other suggestions as well.

Hi - does this part come with the gasket or is that a separate part? I have been on many forums and it seems this is the part I most likely need as my 2000 GT has this weird hum that comes and goes. The hum will start and when I hit the accelerator to idle up it will go away momentarily then come back at times when the rpms come back down.

    • A gasket is indeed needed for the installation of this Ford Idle Air Control. It does not come with the product so it will be needed to be purchased separately.

Can this product help my situation on my 99 mustang gt it has a Paxton supercharger and when the car is set in gear it surges from time to time, will this IAC help with that?

    • The Ford IAC - Idle Air Control could help if your existing IAC is failing, however this could also be caused by a number of other issues as well.

Does this need a gasket or just bolt up and good to go?

    • Hi, A gasket is required for a proper seal.

      Excellent Product! (Read for help)

My K7 Mustang Gt 5spd would die at stop lights and pretty much everytime I came to a complete stop. Whenever I stopped the idle would dip too low, then jump up, then dip farther down and then die. It was driving me absolutely bonkers! As soon as I replaced the Idle Air Control Module nothing changed, in fact it seemed like it was worse, even after separate test drives it would still die anytime I came to a complete stop. So what I did was, installed the new IAC module, disconnected both and - leads from the battery, then turned the headlight switch to the "on" position. Let it sit like that overnight, afterwards just hook the battery back up test drive it. After I did that my K7 Mustang Gt 5spd hasn't died a single time, nor even thought about dying. Would totally recommend this product to anyone who has a mustang that's dying or idle fluctuations when stopped. One other thing, this product does NOT come with a new gasket, so just be careful when removing the old IAC module and reuse the gasket. Thank you for reading, I hope this helps someone. Thank you American Muscle!!! You're the best!!!

      Works great!

I purchased a my 2000 mustang from a private seller and noticed a wonky idle in neutral at lights. Feom my experience it seemed like an IAC issue. Once i installed this it purred like a kitten! Great product!

Motorcraft OEM is the only way to go!

2015 I replaced the failed original IAC in my '98 GT with an aftermarket replacement ($45). One year later that part failed! This time, I paid the $120 for the Motorcraft part. The car has never idled so consistently! You definitely get what you pay for. :)
