    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey, Stephanie, with AmericanMuscle.com and this is my review of these chrome headlights for '87 and '93 Foxbody Mustangs. First thing I'll say here is that I tend to like the standard three-piece design of the Fox headlights, and I got the three-piece design both my cars. I tried the one-piece ones once, but they didn't really last long, so these are already all right in my book. But headlights pretty much come down to personal preference. These headlights have chrome housings, which will make them more eye-catching than the stock headlights, but what I really like about these guys is that they're difference than the factory headlights, but they don't have tinted lenses. These are going to look different than the stock headlights because of the chrome housing that we just talked about but also because these headlights have an auxiliary bulb that kind of acts like an extra marker light, and you can see it down here in the lower corner next to your main bulb. If you're a hardcore Foxbody fan, you'll notice that the diffusion ribbing is different on these headlights, which also makes these guys look different than the factory lights. That's part of the reason why I like these aftermarket options. The Foxbody headlights weren't exactly to die for, and it isn't really hard to upgrade. So because these headlights don't have that tinted or smoked lens, I can actually say that they probably do improve visibility of your stock headlights, especially if you're still rocking the originals, because they're probably not looking that great right now, unless you have some super clean, garage kept beauty. But putting those gems aside, the only other thing I'll say when it comes to visibility here is that when you're installing, you got to make sure you adjust and aim your main bulb or else you'll be looking down or off to the left or somewhere else random at night instead of forward. Install-wise, this is pretty easy, guys, and I'm going to rate it as a one out of three wrenches on the scale here. You're probably looking at about 45 minutes for this install, and they do come ready to install, but like I just said, don't forget to aim them, and I'd also run some silicone around the headlights where the lenses meet the housings, just to make sure they're sealed and you won't have any condensation issues with your new headlights. As far as price point, you're looking at just over the 150 mark with these lights right here, which lands them on the higher side of the middle of the road when we compare these to the other three-piece options like the smoked and black headlights that are available. And the fitment of all these headlights is usually great. So, we have a middle of the road price point with a chrome housing and a three-piece design, and soft touch of a little something different with an auxiliary light, just to sum things up here. The headlights are one of the first areas that my eye goes to when I look over a car, and these are a subtle upgrade over the factory headlights. You can check these out, along with all the other Foxbody headlight options here at AmericanMuscle.com.

      Great so far

Lights look great!!! Had to take it to ford to install because my old headlights were giving me trouble and also they could wire it properly but they seem great so far. Still have to adjust the beam though.

      Meh

First off they do not provide that much better viability than the stock ones. They look great, but don't expect a huge diffidence in the visibility. I had to put a 55w HID kit to get these to make a difference. I have had these for exactly 3 years now. My fox is always garage kept. It's only driven once a week, and never spends more than a few hours outside of the garage. The clear coat just started peeling. I'm actually pretty frustrated because I feel that only lasting 3 years is pretty pathetic, especially since it's garage kept for all but 4 hours a week. I Will probably not buy a second pair.

      look good

Only have one of the two in so far. They look much better than stock and happy to stock with the 3 piece design. Now the bad. Install is pretty easy however you shouldn't have to silicone the seems to keep water out. The install directions on tjhis site tell you to do so on all the lights yet one of the markers on either side has a hole in it to let moisture in and out I'm assuming. Silicone the main headlight assembly for extra assurance since it seems to be the only one that will completely seal. The outer markers factory plug is not even close to being a tight seal. Have yet to try it out but will not be surprised if they get dogged. Overall look is good and quality ok

      Headlight install

Installing the new headlights in my Mustang made a world of difference in the looks. The old lights were 22 years old and had turned yellow. Getting the old bolts and nuts out was a hard job. Installing the new lights was simple and easy. They bolted right up and look great. The lens are crystal clear and very bright. I can see again at night. Also, I've had numerous comments from people about how great they look. Thanks for a quality product.

Great product at a great price.

A little bit of wiring is involved but nothing out of the realm of the garage warrior. When it was all did and done it took about 3-4 hours to install and adjust these lights. A step up from original on light output.

      Clean and easy install

Id recommend using clear silicone around the edges to insure there will be no leaking ect being that these are after market lights. I did that and haven't had an issue with moisture or anything. Great lights for the price!

Good looking lights... one minor thing

Compared to my 20yr old headlights these are looking great. As many others have described they work as advertised and installation was easy. The only minor quabble I had with these is that the spare marker light... and no splices. Would be great if it was in the kit which would make it complete. I see the description shows hardware as "None Required" but the splicing requires some hardware, not much... but just enough. The install is described as 45 minutes. I would say that this is only 45 minutes for an experienced wrencher. I guess I did a little taking my time to clean up things with the lights out, etc. But running to the hardware store to get some splice parts may take 45 minutes and adjusting the lights may take another 30 by itself. So count on a good 3-4 hours if you ask me. Also, maybe some tips on aligning new headlights would be handy too. It's takes a little getting use to and a 4mm socket may not be the easiest thing to find.

      chrome headlights

The chrome headlights are an awesome addition to my Fox. They took about an hour to install. Although I wasn't expecting to splice in an additional light. Fortunately I always keep splices, so it was easy. I recommend you have a pack of splices or a way to solder the wires ready prior to install.

      Nice Headlights

I installed a set of the chrome headlights on my 1988 Black Mustang LX Convertible. The instructions were pretty straight forward and simple. The one thing you need to make sure that you do that is not mentioned in the instructions, is to run a bead of silicone around the outside seam between the lens and the housing, (keep it small, so it will not show when the light is in place). I have gotten some nice comments from my friends about how much better the car looks with the new lights. It really brightens up the front end of the car. Now I just have to keep the rest of the car clean enough to match the lights.

      Where's the instructions.

A little tight getting to some of the bolts, but I have big hands and then figured out it was easier coming up from undeneath the car for the inside parking light. These lights came with a small auxillary light next to the low/high beam that has to be hardwired into an existing circuit, where does it get wired into? Some instructions would have been beneficial. The installed lights look great, but now the factory fog lights on the GT need some help. Does American Muscle have anything?

These give my white notch a clean look. Much better than factory. Just remember to seal the outside before you put them it so they don't get moisture inside them.
