Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey, what's going on, guys? Justin with here. As you can see, I've my '14 G.T. back in the shop. I'm doing a little bit more work on it today. You guys seem to be really digging these videos, so I'm going to keep bringing them to you. If you caught the first couple of videos, you can kind of see the general direction of the car. Appearance-wise, I have that GT500 theme going on, thanks to the matte white stripes on the white car - which I think looks really cool - the GT500 spoilers, and some other little parts. Performance-wise, you saw the Cobra Jet Intake Manifold I did in the second video, along with the big monoblade throttle body, the off-road H-pipe, and the MagnaFlow exhaust. So car's running great, looking good so far, but I definitely have some more stuff planned today. I'm starting off with the chin spoiler here, the ROUSH front chin spoiler, which I just finished up installing. Really a big fan of this chin spoiler. Not a whole lot of options available out there for these generation Mustangs in terms of lip spoilers or chin spoilers. The R.T.R. is nice. It's a little too radical for what I'm going for. Boss is really nice, obviously, but price is a little high for me. So the ROUSH is just right. I like it. Simple lip, yet I think it really adds a lot to the car. So I do have some other appearance stuff going on here today, guys. In addition to some stuff inside the car finally. So let's go over to the side, and I'll show you some more appearance stuff. All right, guys. You've been hearing me talk about it for the last few videos and guess what? The nice weather is finally here, so finally been able to throw on my new wheels, and I could not be happier. I went with the '13 and '14 GT500-style wheels wrapped in the very good Mickey Thompson rubber here, and again, the 28's in charcoal. I think they look awesome on the white car, and they really just nail that GT500 look that I've been after ever since I bought this car. So my vision is finally kind of coming together, thanks to these wheels. In addition to that, guys, I also did the ROUSH side and rear splitters to go along with that front chin spoiler from ROUSH. I think the total package just really adds a lot to the car in terms of appearance, and just gives it a much more aggressive look. Now, I am going to get inside the car, of course, but I do have one more suspension part I want to tackle before I do so, so let's check that out. All right, guys. Ryan and I just finished up installing the S.R. Performance lower control arms here on my '14. Now, for a lot of Mustang owners, these are actually one of the top mods you guys do when you first get the car because as you probably know the wheel hop on these things is absolutely horrendous. I've just been dragging my feet a little bit on this mod, but now the car is making real good power, I definitely need these to help me get that power to the ground. Very simple install guide. Basically, a two-bolt install. Of course, you want to make sure you get the brake lines out of the way with a big zip tie, something like that. But again, a very recommended mod with these cars, and again, should help you lay down some nice lines instead of wheel-hopping all over the place. With these buttoned up, I'm going to get inside the car and show you guys a couple mods in there. All right, guys. So here we are in the interior of my '14 G.T. where I am doing a little bit of work today. Now, full disclosure, when I bought this car, it had to have a few options. It had to have the Track Pack, Recaros, and the car had to be white. Now, the only car I could find with those options was a base car. So I am missing out on the cool stereo, some of the nice interior touches, and those Track Apps that we all know and love. So I am trying to fix that one at a time, and I'll show you what I'm talking about. First up, I did the Raxiom Navigation. Now, this is an absolute must for anybody without the factory nav. It integrates so well into the interior of these cars, works flawlessly, and the G.P.S. is right on the money. So hands-down probably one of the best mods I've done to this car so far. As far as that boring base dash, well luckily, here the guys at AmericanMuscle Graphics do offer a few dash overlay kits, so I picked up their carbon fiber version, and I absolutely love this thing, man. Slapped it on one day in the driveway at home just in an hour or two, and it kind of gives you that California Special appearance to your dash if you have a base car like me. It just spices it up a little bit, so I really do enjoy that. Finally, I am missing those Track Apps, so I had to take care of that, and what I did was, I looked at the P.L.X. DM-100 Multi Gauge. Now, this thing has a touchscreen gauge, and it shows you all that great OBD2 info, so air-fuel ratio, intake air temp, water temp, things like that. And it can also be used as a performance gauge, so it can tell you your eighth, quarter mile times, things like that. Definitely a nice thing to grab if you don't have those Track Apps because it kind of takes the place of that, and I had a nice, stealthy install here with the gauge pod. So overall, the interior is coming together pretty nicely. A couple of other bells and whistles I threw in was the Modern Billet 6-speed white shift knob, which I just love that retro look, and I also threw in some Raxiom L.E.D. map lights as well. So overall, again, really happy with the interior. I think the car is really starting to come together. Maybe have a few other things down the road here as far as the interior is concerned, but for now, again, really happy. All right, guys. That's going to do it for this installment on my 2014. Thanks for checking out the progress. I honestly could not be happier with how the car's sitting right now. I think it's looking great, definitely making some good power. Now, it's the time to get on the streets and have a little bit of fun. So drop a comment and let me know what you think of this bad boy, and in the meantime, I'll see you next time. Peace.

What does it mean when I select US/CAN? Does that mean it will either come from the United States or Canada? Will wiring b different?

  • The Raxiom OE-Style GPS Navigation w/ Back-Up Camera is available with maps for the United States, or both the United States and Canadian maps. The wiring is not different, so you may utilize either option in both US spec and CAD spec Mustangs.

Very nice looking stereo gps and backup camera are awesome! Only thing is when your using the gps it doesn't tell your the current time you have to go back to the main menu to see it and also the sound quality sounds like I lost bass but increased clarity which is ok with me. If you are tired of your base stereo buy this!

    Great... but it just broke.

Install was involved, but not too bad. Worked great for about a year, now the screen just went out. I need to contact Raxiom to see if they have any suggestions; (screen has Red and Blue snowy pattern on it then goes totally black... like an old analog TV set.).

Well the install took a little longer than expected but that is because I installed everything myself. I took the camera and gps antenna to a shop and they wanted 250 to install, so I said f that and dove in myself. So far so great, the gps is really amazing and looks a lot better than most that I've seen. Bluetooth connects when getting into car and plays music so that's great. Only thing I don't like, maybe there's an update, the Bluetooth Audio displays no information of the song that's playing. Overall really happy with the look, I also got the chrome bezels or the mobs underneath I believe it looks amazing and oem.

Nice upgrade for my 2012 GT

Was really looking for the back up camera aspect and so bought this unit on sale. Instructions are really minimal and for the GPS/radio portion adequate to install inside of an hour. The back up camera had no instructions...while it took some doing, I have it in place and working well. (took 2 emails with tech staff at Rosen as no one at AM knows how to answer questions about installation) The manufacturer should do a better job of providing instructions. I like the GPS Nav system as a bonus. Looks great and is easy to operate. The only other issue is that it would have been nice for the camera to at least have the yellow and red lines to help when backing up.

One of the best upgrades for a 2010-2014 Mustang!!

I have start by saying that the Raxiom OE-Style Nav was one of the best upgrades I've gotten for my mustang thus far. My mustang didn't come with the factory nav and back up camera and people always tell me it looks just the like the OEM. The installation was not bad at all with one of my buddies helping me out throughout the process. I completely recommend anybody that does not have this upgrade to get it now!

    Great Product

The installation of this product was slightly unclear. I was on the phone with tech support for a long time and even they couldn't figure out some of it without actually being there to see what was going on. We ended up discovering that there is a lot of unused wiring and we wasted a lot of time trying to figure out where they went. Other than that, I couldn't ask for an easier install. The end product is amazing with the only drawback being that I can't hook up my phone with Bluetooth. Would definitely buy again.

GREAT SYSTEM !!! External Satellite Radio Does WORK !!!

I installed this GPS system about a month or so ago. It was super easy to install. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to install. The longest part of the install was routing the wire for the backup camera, about 1 1/2 hour. I have read reviews that satellite radio doesn't work, not totally correct. I have an external satellite radio unit that plugs into the auxillary plug and it works perfect with this unit !!! I have taken a couple of road trips since and the GPS is great ! Thank you American Muscle for this great item and I will be buying many more items for my Mustang in the future !!!

    clean new look

In my experience with AM, the customer service was great. I had to have asked about 50 questions and they answered them all gladly. Great customer service. Installation took me around 3 hrs but I know nothing about installation so, whatever. My end result is money. The camera is nice, didn't want to drill in my car but I did it discretely. My suggestion, research videos on the install. The manual was OK, but had a few parts missing. And doesn't have instructions on the camera mount. But it's or there. All in all well worth the money!

    Raxiom Navigator system

Have never taken apart the inside of a new car I was concerned about damaging the trim pieces. The instructions on the AM site where excellent I was able to install the unit with out incident. However I am having software problems that Rosen and Naviextras cannot seem to resolve. Customer support is very sketchy, vague and does not solve the problems, gas stations completely wrong, alerts do not work very well and expect addresses to be off by at least ten locations. General functions work it will get you there and back but maps are incomplete

    Looks just like OEM.

Looks just like it came with it from factory. The down side is it uses the existing radio and everything so it is really an overpriced screen. The instructions are lacking for install and operating the unit. Once installed it looks great but operates slowly. Overpriced considering no Bluetooth and reusing existing radio. Would not buy it again.

Completely Transforms The Overall Look of Interior

Alright, so I've got a 2014 GT which had the basic CD player and just looked dated. All of the aftermarket double DIN's I found had the screen on the bottom which to me would just suck being right in front of my shifter. I was very glad to see on AM that this non-sync unit came out and purchased it right away. This was my first time installing a radio/back-up-cam,navigation and it was fairly straight forward. The most time consuming piece was mounting my back-up camera. I chose to mount it different than what the instructions had but am very happy with the outcome. Here are some notes that I feel would have helped me tremendously if I had them available before/during install: NAVIGATION: I chose to mount the GPS deal on the inside of the car right behind the rear view mirror as AM did on the Sync Raxiom unit in their video (you will find that the instructions for the Sync Navigation are more thorough as far as camera and Navi Installation). I mounted the black magnetic piece right behind the pony on the inside of the window behind the rear view mirror. Simply ran the wires up the passenger side of the window behind the window post. I USED VELCRO ON THE REAR OF THE GPS AND THE BLACK MAGNETIC STRIP TO HOLD IT IN PLACE since it will be upside down if you choose to mount it this way. GPS is very accurate, no issues caused by mounting here or putting velcro on the back of the GPS. WIRING THE STEREO: Perhaps I am just not good at reading wiring diagrams, but I figured it are some notes I would have found helpful. On the DB-CAM wire, it says on the diagram (Blue) Not Used. Well it's not blue, it's actually a red and a black wire, one of them has a sticker that says something like (reverse trigger 12v) YOU DO NOT WIRE THIS INTO ANYTHING, the backup camera triggers in reverse without this. Now for the main harness that comes with your new Raxiom unit. The wiring diagram shows to connect the FL wire to either the '10-'12 or the '2013... it doesn't say anything about the '14 so I wired it into the third wire that I believe said N/A. BACKUP CAMERA: I chose to install the camera on the removable plastic plate above the license plate which surrounds the license plate lights. I removed the plate and also removed the passenger side license plate light (the entire housing, have to pry it off pretty hard to get it out). I drilled 2 holes into the plate, mounted the camera. I also used a small hack saw to cut a groove in the plate and in the license plate light housing so I could feed the wire up through the light housing. This worked great for me. Was also the most time consuming part of the project. Overall I am extremely happy with this entire deal. Navigation works great, stereo makes my speakers sound great, and completely changes the appearance of the interior. One last note, during install you will need to remove the shift knob, make sure you cover the metal end of the shifter during install so you don't put a scratch in your new screen like I did.

    Great product, except....

Great product, fairly easy install, except it will take you more than 2 hours. Would have given it 5 stars except for one thing. Everything worked as advertised except my Sat radio. Beware, if you had a Sat capable radio and installed components (even Fords) to make your sat radio function it will not work with this unit (no audio). According to the manufacturer (Rosen Electronics) it is a firmware problem and cannot be corrected. Otherwise it performs flawlessly.
