Performance Protection. Adding bolt-on power can quickly turn the heat up on your motor, which can kill performance and cause more wear. The Reische Performance Thermostat operates at 170 degrees compared to the 180 to 195 degrees of your OEM unit. This lower temperature threshold ensures your motor runs cooler under more power loads, and makes for a simple but critical investment.

Tune it? Cool it. If you're advancing timing on your motor or operating a custom tune, a lower temperature thermostat is a critical investment in engine life. Lower temperatures allow for safer timing advancement and tuning without causing engine wear or detonation, which can ruin your motor.

Made to Fit Mustangs. Unlike cheaper, generic units that are "universal", each Reische Performance Thermostat is made using the same diaphragm and bypass control as OEM thermostats. Each unit is modified by hand with U.S made parts to ensure they run at the right temperature for your Mustang.

All-Weather Capable. Running a lower temperature thermostat has been said to reduce performance – but with the Reische's consistent operation and 170-degree "sweet spot", no drivers have reported any loss of power or MPGs in colder weather.

Application. The 170-Degree Reische Performance Thermostat is specifically designed as a direct replacement-upgrade for 1996-2004 and 2007-2010 GT Mustangs.

works great!!!!

Definitely keeps cooler I haven't had my water even make it to 180° yet. I did get a tune revision and have noticed greater muscle under the hood.

Keeps temps at perfect level for coolant!

City driving keeps temps around 182-188f. Performance driving I never see coolant go above 192f even after an hour hill climb race. No performance negatives, car does not run lean or rich. Make ...

Should I get an AM tune revision if using this 170 degree thermostat?

  • The Reische Performance Thermostat - 170 Degree does not require a tune for proper functionality, however, since your motor will run cooler, you will be able advance the timing a little more if you were to get a tune.

I live in Orlando Florida and it gets extremely hot in the summer. Can I use this on my stock 98 GT just to help it keep cool in traffic? Would it be bad or harmful to use it on my stock 4.6?

    Quality product

As far as quality goes it seems to be made from good durable material and should be very dependable and have a very long life without any issues. As for as "performance" goes though, I see zero difference temperature wise. I don't know off the top of my head what an OEM thermostat runs price wise, but if it's only 5 bucks or so difference then I'd recommend buying but $10 then I'd just go with an OEM one. Hope this was helpful. Thanks.

    Great for tuned engines

I have a number of bolt-on performance modifications, and run 93 Octane. My performance would dip as the engine would get to higher temperatures. After installing it, I don't get above 192f and have not experienced the performance dip with the stock thermostat. The box came with instructions on what the low speed fan and high speed fan temperatures needed to be set to. I was able to manually modify the settings on my Bama tune via the iTSX application. I'm really impressed with the sheet they included with the hardware for changing your tune.

    Runs a lot cooler!

Engine temp was running 204 with stock thermostat. This thermostat hasn't exceeded 186. I'm very satisfied. Just make sure you tune your fan to come on at around 179.
