- How to Install an Airaid Cold Air Intake on your 2005-2009 V6 Mustang
Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

First step in doing some minor mods to my 2008 V6 convertible. Added in conjunction with the SR 70mm throttle body along with the Screamin Demon coil pack, Taylor Street Thunder plug wires and NGK plugs. The parts work very well in combination with one another and the Bama X4 custom tune. Throttle response is much quicker and the increased power and torque are quite noticeableHelpful (5)

Parts were packaged very well. Can not tell if horsepower has increased yet only been on for 6 hours.Helpful (6)

This product gave me slightly improved gas mileage and without a tune, I'm guessing an increase of about 10 HP. The CAI looks great, and I would give the Fit 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the breather hose doesn't fit flush or tightly into the main intake tube. You can pull the breather hose right out of the Air Raid intake tube. The breather hose hasn't worked itself out yet, but I wish there was some kind of band/clamp to hold it tight to the Air Raid intake tube included with the CAI.Helpful (5)

Great but DOES REQUIRE A TUNE
Got this for my V6 convertible, and I can notice a great difference, especially around 3000 rpm. HOWEVER, this intake does require tune to work properly!Helpful (5)

Cold air Intake Rocks.
This is so much easier to install then a KandN intake. I've had those on several different vehicles and almost bought another for this Mustang but I seen everyones photos and read the reviews and it seemed like this was the one. Installed in less then an hour even did the throttle body spacer and it fit perfect would recommend to everybody. Money well spent.Helpful (6)

Great Kit, Perfect Fit
Works well with Ford Racing Dual Exhaust to give the V6 alittle more power and sound. Kit has everything you need, good detailed instructions.Helpful (5)

This CAI is really good a little expensive but it's worth it. It did give a little difference in throttle response. And I can tell it did give a little more power. What I like most of all is the sound when it is sucking in the air. It makes my throttle body spacer sound a little louder. Even tho is a little high in price I would buy it all over again. And when your buying performance parts for your vehicle its most of the time going to be high in price.Helpful (6)

Had the air raid installed and love the louder sound !Helpful (6)
How much horsepower is gained from this intake without a tune?
The Airaid Cold Air Intake - SynthaMax Dry Filter can produce upward of 10hp, however, results will vary of multiple factors such as air temperature, humidity, elevation, fuel quality, etc. With the addition of other modifications to the intake and exhaust, the power gains will increase accordingly.
will this fit on a bbk 70mm throttle body on my 05
Does this come with a Venturi (reduction sleeve) installed? If so, is it removable?
Hi, whats the difference between the dry and oiled?
Dry filters typically allow more air flow, but can let in more particulates. Oiled filters do not allow as much air flow, but block more particulates.
I’m really considering on buying, but I was wondering if this does require a tune I was noticing other intakes say they don’t but they really do. Will the check engine light pop up when installed ?
This cold air intake does not require a tune and will not affect the engine light when this is properly installed.
Yes this cold air intake is compatible with the aftermarket throttle body that you have installed.
