How to Install a BBK Mass Air Meter for Cold Air Intake and 24lb Injectors on your 1986-1993 Mustang

Installation

NOTE - ALL BBK MASS AIR METERS ARE DESIGNED TO BE A DIRECT BOLT ON WITH NO ADDITIONAL ADJUSTMENTS OR TUNING REQUIRED. BE SURE TO VERIFY THAT THE CALIBRA nON OF THE METER IS CORRECT FOR YOUR INJECTOR SIZE. USING A METER THAT IS CALIBRATED FOR A DIFFERENT INJECTOR SIZE THAN WHAT YOU ARE USING CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO YOUR ENGINE.

1. Unplug the mass air meter harness by squeezing the locking clip while pulling on the plastic connector.

2. Do not pull on the wires. Only pull by the plastic connector.

3. The plastic connector has the word PUSH printed on it for ease of reference.

4. Disconnect the mass air meter from the induction system by loosening the hose clamps that attach the hoses/couplers to both ends of the mass air meter.

5. Remove the (2) bolts that attach the mass air meter bracket to the strut tower.

6. Remove the original mass air meter and bracket from the vehicle as one piece.

7. Install the BBK mass air meter into the vehicle by tightening the original hoses/couplers for the induction system over it.

8. Re-establish the electrical connection by simply plugging the wiring harness into the meter, or wiring extension where applicable.

SSK recommends using these mass air meters in conjunction with SSK or other aftermarket cold air induction (CAl) systems to ensure proper fitment.

9. If you are working with the stock air box, you will need to disassemble the air box by releasing the clamp, then unbolting the mass air meter from the plastic base disc.

10. Unplug the mass air meter harness by squeezing the locking clip while pulling on the plastic connector.

11. Do not pull on the wires. Only pull by the plastic connector.

12. The plastic connector has the word PUSH printed on it for ease of reference.


13. Disconnect the mass air meter from the induction system by removing the (4) bolts that attach the mass air meter flange to the air box/CAl and loosening the hose clamps that attach the hoses/couplers to the ends of the mass air meter.

14. Attach the BBK mass air meter to the induction system using the original (4) bolts that attach the mass air meter flange to the air box/CAl and tightening the hose clamps that attach the hoses/couplers to the ends of the mass air meter.

15. Re-establish the electrical connection by simply plugging the wiring harness into the meter, or wiring extension where applicable.
