    If you're the owner of a '94 to '04 Mustang and are looking for a serious dose of stopping power worthy of one of the most limited Mustangs of all time, then you should definitely check out the Ford Performance 2000 Cobra R Front Brake upgrade for your SN95. Now, this kit will include a set of the black four-piston Brembo calipers, cadmium plated 13-inch slotted rotors, pads, stainless lines, and more needed for the installation all for right around that $1200 price point. Installation here, well, listen, it's a brake job right, so figure all three out of three wrenches albeit a soft one and a few hours to get wrapped up from start to finish. Talk a little bit more about that later in the video. So, the 2000 Cobra R was and still is one of the baddest cars of its time. Right? Big power out of the naturally aspirated 5.4, wild road course worthy suspension, unique arrow, big brakes, and the craziest part is Ford only produced 300 of these Performance red monsters. Now, luckily for us, some of these parts continue to live on through the aftermarket such as the brake kit that we're talking about here today. Now, of course, this kit is brought to us by the combination of Ford Performance and Brembo brakes. And in my opinion, it's gonna pack equal parts function in form. But first up, let's talk hardware, guys, and the centerpiece is gonna be the combination of the gloss black four-piston Brembo calipers which are gonna ride on the massive 13-inch cadmium plated slotted rotors. Now, cadmium is a plating process similar to that of zinc but really isn't used too much anymore in the automotive world. But that being said, I will say it looks awesome here on the rotors and will ultimately help you guys prevent any corrosion long term on the non-friction surfaces of the rotors themselves. Now, all together, this package up front paired with the Cobra R sticky BFG tires pulled the car down from 60 to zero in 127 feet which for the year was very impressive. Now, besides the two sexy parts we just talked about, the Cobra R front brake setup also includes new pads which are serviced number M-2300-XP and the brand new braided stainless steel lines, along with all your hardware needed for the installation itself. Now, before we go any further here, guys, I do wanna mention a couple of small but very important things here in regards to your fitment. Again, this kit will technically fit all '94 to '04 Mustangs. However, '94 to '95 GT owners will need to upgrade to a '94 Cobra master cylinder for proper operation. Next up is wheel fitment. Now, the site is gonna claim the use of 17-inch wheels or larger are required here for this combination. And while that is true, some 17-inch wheels will simply not work, including the bullet wheels along with the 17-inch FR500 replicas. However, 17 by 9 and 18 by 9 Cobra R wheels and reps will work along with the 18-inch version of the FR500.Now, as far as your installation is concerned here, guys. Well, since this kit is so complete, there really shouldn't be any big surprises here. Remove the factory hardware up front including those factory rubber brake lines and replace it with everything included in the Ford Performance kit. Of course, you will need to grab some extra fluid to bleed the system once everything's been installed. But the job itself isn't terribly difficult so figure a very soft three out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and I'd say maybe a couple of hours to complete from start to finish.     This Ford Racing 2000 Cobra R Front Big Brake Kit is designed to fit all 1994 to 2004 Mustangs, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1 and SVT Cobra model's. 1994-1995 GT Mustangs will require the 1994 Cobra master cylinder for proper fitment. Product may differ from picture shown.

    Technical Note. This Ford Racing/Brembo kit requires the use of 17" (or larger) wheels with 50mm clearance to the back of the spokes.

    We have found that this cobra brake kit will not fit any of our Bullitt wheels and the 17" FR500 wheels. It will fit the 17x9 and 18x9 Cobra R wheels and the 18" FR500 wheels. All other wheels should be tested with the above method to ensure proper fitment.

        has anyone put theses on a fox body with sn95 spindles?

        • The Ford Performance 2000 Cobra R Front Big Brake Kit should install onto the SN95 spindles with no issues. As long as you have a wheel that fits over these and also fits the fox chassis, there should be no issues.

        2003 Cobra 17x9 Wheel Compatibility Is this brake kit compatible with the 2003 Cobra 17x9 wheels? The note says it is compatible with the 17x9 Cobra R wheels. Is this only the 1995 style, or does it include the 2003 Cobra style?

        • Per Brembo North America the caliper measures 48.4mm out from the rotor hat. You need a clearance of at least 48.5mm for the center wheel hub to the inside spoke face. As far as caliper height, the caliper measures 192.5mm from the center of the wheel hub. If you go online and perform a search, Brembo has a cross section chart available for printing that you can glue onto foam board, you can cut it out for wheel clearance checking . Just don't use a fax copy, it's scale size will be off. Just check your "copy" printed out version for scale size first, scale points for cross checking are on the Brembo's cross-section chart.

        I recently bought stainless DOT brake lines from Russell for my 1998 Mustang GT and they have the stock fittings on them. Would these be compatible with these calipers or would I need to use the ones that come with the kit? - Thanks

            Brembo Cobra R front calipers/rotors

            Quality precision brakes. Calipers lined up perfectly with rotors. On my 03 gt, the brake hose bracket needed the flat side of the D shaped hole deepened a little. As the hex shape of the braided hose fitting would not fit the holder. Extra minute for an otherwise simple install.

            Cobra R brake kit

            Bought the kit for my 2003 Cobra. After install I noticed that one rotor started to rust after being on the car less than a month. Called American Muscle and was told there was nothing they will do. I will gladly take my business elsewhere.

            Great product for a (relatively) affordable price!

            This setup isn't the biggest and best but it's a great compromise. you can't go wrong with the price. if you tried to piece together this set on your own it would end up being way more. Stopping power is definitely improved.

            Brembo 2000 Cobra R Front Big Brake Kit

            Great performance Brembo 2000 Cobra R Front Big Brake Kit on my 2001 Ford Cobra SVT. As a Ford Mechanic it took me 30 minutes to install and another 20 minutes to perform brake fluid flush and road test vehicle. It is very smooth and quick stop when applying brake pedal. So I highly recommend to any SVT owners.

            2000 Cobra R front big brake kit

            I track my car 6-9 days a year (road circuits). I tried different brake pads and rotor combos with the stock PBR Calipers, only to find the brakes to be barely adequate under hard track braking. After a lot of research, I decided to go with this brake kit. I was excited with the fit and finish of this product. It was a straight forward install. The increased braking surface on the rotor impressed me. The ease of changing the brake pads, wow! On track they performed flawlessly. Good pedal feel and consistent. The pads wore evenly and straight. This brake kit is the biggest bang for the buck out there. I would recommend this product to anyone! Nigel G

            Great brakes!

            We purchased these for a build on a customer's car and they look and work great, even the factory Cobra brakes leave something to be desired. Just an FYI - These will NOT clear the OE 1996 Cobra 17" wheels. There is not enough clearance to the caliper and back of the wheel spoke!! After we ordered new wheel/tires the disaster was averted.             Great Upgrade

            I use the car for road course track days. A huge upgrade over the stock PBRs. Running 18" FR500 replicas, I did need to put a small wheel spacer in to ensure clearance. It clears without them, just barely, when the calipers are cold. The small bit of expansion when they heat up is enough to cause a clearance issue. At the track they have held up very well. The pads they come with are better suited for the street, and dust quite a bit however. The white "Brembo" decals are now brown on my calipers from baking at the track, but mechanically they are sound. Replacement rotors are no more expensive than stock as the rotor size does not change with this kit. I would highly recommend these for anyone doing anything with their cars beyond cruising around on the street. The stock calipers are just not up to the task for performance use.

            Great for Racing

            I race in autcross, High Speed autocross, and PDX driving events. The original Bullitt/Cobra front brakes could not stand the heat, and would melt their seals. These hold up excellently, and have even greater stopping power. A must have, if you are going to track your car. Well worht the investment.

            Ford Racing 2000 Cobra R Front Big Brake Kit - Slotted Rotors (94-04)

            These brakes are actually quite nice, but the God forsaken steel lines that come with them totally suck, After the install I bolted everything together and the brake lines (where they attached to the vehicle line) leaked like a sieve, I thought that maybe I made a mistake so I looked them over real well, still leaked, I went to several parts stores to try and find some type of adapter and all they had were similar the same lines as were on the vehicle. Finally in desperation, I was able to bolt the original (the car had steel brake lines already) back on the new calipers and leaks. I swapped them out one more time to make sure I wasn't going crazy....brake fluid city. So someone, someplace either gave me the wrong lines, or mismachined the block where the lines mate.

            Perfect purchase

            These Brembo 4 piston caliper and 13" rotors are incredible. Also, the added bonus about this kit is that it is a Ford OEM part, as it came off of the 2000 Cobra "R". Do this with SVT cobra rear calipers and rotors like I did, and you have a serious set up. Definitely suggest this set if you want to do a big brake upgrade. Fit was perfect, and the stainless steel lines that it came with work great as well.

            2004 Terminator

            Awesome brakes. Only problem was AM stated they cleared the 18X9 Cobra R wheels but they don't. I have the deep dish 95' Style Cobra R wheels from AM on my 2004 Cobra and it needs the 5/16 spacer to clear the caliper. Easy fix and I am lucky it doesn't stick out that far but just a warning to buyers. When I called them and told them they said that they should fit and they were test fitted but they were cool and sent me the spacers free of charge and over nighted them. Still glad I got them though. Really look good and work awesome with Hawk HPS pads!

            Great stopping power, horrible brake dust!

            These brakes are simply awesome looking and they are a huge upgrade in braking power over the stock GT brakes. I do have two complaints, first is the brake dust, I have never seen so much brake dust in my life. I'm actually thinking about changing the pads that came with them to a ceramic pad or anything with less brake dust because I have white wheels and you see it like crazy. The second issue I had was with one of the stainless brake lines, it wasn't machined properly to fit in the factory holder and clip, I had to modify it by grinding it down to fit properly. I was going to call Brembo to complain but never got around to it. Other than that, I have satisfied with them.

            Super Brakes

            I've been waiting for these brakes and at a great price. Lucky to get thm before they ran out. Just don't let your installer mix up the left and right side. Brake lines are metric on one side and standard on the other, that's strange.

            Brembo 13" Slotted Rotors & 4 Piston Calipers

            This is a Awesome upgrade as far as performance! These are a great styling upgrade too, not to mention I get lots of compliments on it and really fills up the 18" rims nicely. Lots of brake dust but its worth it.
