This item is an awesome idea it fits perfectly and looks great however it does not! Have the standard durable plastic chrome finish. It has an extremely soft finish that Mars and scratches extremely easy! Not worth $400Helpful (4)

For the money
$400 is a LOT for a chromed plastic bumper. I would expect absolute perfection at that kind of price point, but the truth is, there are a few problems with this product, beginning with the fit. Foam double stick tape would have been a far better choice because the fit at the ends, of both the support brackets, and the chrome overlay, leave something to be desired. No matter how hard I pressed down on the ends, or how long, a clicking can be heard where there isn't contact. My other problem with this product, is that there are no directions included, there was no cleaning pad, nor was there any kind of an applicator for the minuscule amount of adhesion promoter provided. A paper low-stick adhesive template for locating and masking while applying the adhesion promoter would also have been a good idea. That said, it looks great, I just hope it stays on over the years.Helpful (5)

Nice retro look
Looks great, instructions on rear bumper not as clear as front. Measurements like was used for front could've made it easier. I bit pricey I think for what it is.Helpful (7)

LOOKS GREAT!!!!!! TILL IT FALLS OFF????????
Bought the honeycomb decklid, chrome tail light package, for all three lights, AND the chrome bumper, back in Oct., 2014. Today, after work, I came home, and noticed the BUMPER WAS MISSING!! I retraced my steps, found it on the road, about 7 miles away. Chrome skin, in the middle of a two lane. Scratched, a little dented, piece of $400 nice looking plastic. Until, 8 months and almost half a grand later, it's road kill. I figure the tape supplied didn't hold. It DID, for at least half a year, but, that tape is STRONG, HOW COULD IT just FALL OFF? Called AM, they said Retro doesn't make it anymore, but I'm gonna call them tomorrow, see about a warranty replacement. Advice: maybe spray that 'non 3M tape' with some SUPER GLUE. But it looked good, when it was on. Lot of compliments. I want it replaced!!!!! Do you HEAR ME RETRO USA??? jdmHelpful (10)

Like the retro look
Got both front and rear covers and the car now looks "complete". Very good directions for an easy one man install. Taking your time to remove old wax and get the facia clean and going step by step should take no more than a half hour for each end. Looks great, but you have to remember, these are still plastic bumper covers and should be treated as such. They look so correct, it took my wife more than a week to even notice, while other mustang owners notice right away and almost always ask where I got 'em. Though I feel the price could(should) be much lower, I still give these covers 2 thumbs up.Helpful (8)
I am wanting to paint over chrome film bumper. Want old school bumper shape but will paint with matte truck bed liner. I am thinking lightly sand chrome film then clean with soapy water and dawn liquid. 2 coats self etching primer then 4 coats bed liner paint. I did this to my rear bumper valance but it was raw white plastic ( I bought it from American muscle as well ). It turned out great. Wanting to know about painting over chrome film bumper? Thanks Joe
Chrome does not have great adhesion properties, however, with the correct preparation it can indeed be painted.
How well does the chrome finish hold up on the plastic bumper? I worry that the bumper will scratch, crack, chip, or generally degrade faster than the stock bumper on my Mustang. Should I decide that I do not like the look of the product, how difficult is it to remove? Will it damage the underlying paint?
This bumper will last you many many years. It should not damage your paint if you decide to remove it. The 3M tape is pretty sticky, so you may have to use some Gummout adhesive remover, but you should be OK.
