Got an 87 GT Cobra 5L with a b303 cam, other then that the engine is stock, am i able to use these springs or will milling be required?

  • The Comp Cams Valve Springs - 16 will definitely be a good upgrade since you have an upgraded cam. Note that some milling of the heads is required for a proper installation.

  • We do not sell GT40 specific valve springs however these should work but will require some milling for the correct install.

Will these work on GT-40 P heads?

  • Thank you for your question about the Comp Cams Valve Springs - 16 (85-95 5.0L, 5.8L). The springs in this kit will work on GT-40P heads. Be aware, some milling of the heads is required for installation. We strongly recommend you have a shop do that.

  • Hi, These Comp Cams Valve Springs can be used with they are not necessary because the X303 cam can be used with factory springs.

Stock heads have to be milled

I didn't notice the advise to mill the stock heads so the inside spring had clearance which resulted in 16 bent pushrods, one broken rocker and a couple broken springs during the motor break in. My own fault but make sure to note the possible need for machine work.
